Recycling Plastic Each and every day, animals struggle to survive due to large amounts of plastic located in the Atlantic Ocean. When people throw their trash away on the beach, it is likely going to be blown away in the wind, resulting in pollution. People living near the Atlantic Ocean should recycle plastic in order to prevent sea creatures from getting stuck in it, ingesting it, and to benefit for themselves with a reward. We humans are hopefully smart enough to tell what is trash, apart from our other surroundings. Although most sea creatures are incredibly intelligent, they are not familiar with plastic. This is not a material they will come across every day of their lives. The Atlantic Ocean is full of hazardous piles of plastic, even some sharp pieces located on the sandy ground. When a creature is swimming in their home, they should not have to worry about getting stuck in one of these piles. This is a danger to their health, and if they get stuck they will most likely end up dying. A good food source is necessary to survive. We all need food to live! Plenty of documentaries show sea creatures that have died because they ingested plastic. When they would cut open the corpse for a dissection, the stomach would be full of the material. This is not something that is easily digested, and it could take a long time before they would finally throw it up. A final benefit of recycling plastic, is that you can get money from it! Not only are you doing something good for your environment, but you are getting a reward for yourself! It is easy to find places that will give you money in return for your plastic, and they will take it ant melt it down to make new things. It is a satisfying feeling knowing you are keeping trash out of the ocean, and you also have a little bit of pocket change! These
