Evaluation of Red Lobster

Is Red Lobster as nice as everyone thinks it is? When I got offered a job at Red Lobster to be a hostess the first thing the manager told me is that Chris Rock and Nicki Minaj had worked there before they had become famous, and that right there sold me. The day I started working at Red Lobster off of I-240 in Oklahoma City, I thought I was working at the nicest place anyone could ever go. Every year on my birthday my parents would ask me where I would want to go for my birthday dinner and my answer would always be Red Lobster. A large building with Red Walls along the outside, of course it was welcoming. Nice dim lighting inside to set the mood of romance, also had three sections of the restaurant, which were called The Galley, the front of the restaurant by the bar, The Main floor, which is just the tables in the middle, Back Main was where there were booths along the back with some tables sectioning them from other booths. Then there was the pier where people could have big parties in a private back room. The restaurant it self is in a very good location and there are always different kinds of people coming in and out of Red Lobster. It was absolutely not the expectation I thought I was going to get from this place when I started working there, I mean I love the place, but only because of the people there. Entrepreneurs Bill Darden & Charley Woodsby founded Red Lobster in 1968. Originally billed as a "Harbor for Seafood Lovers", the original restaurant in Lakeland, Florida was followed by several others throughout the Southeast. (ImFreakyy), making Red Lobster 42 years of age.
Some surprising facts that I have come across when working at Red Lobster is that you would think the food there is fresh, because it’s a sea food place of course its suppose to be fresh right? Well not exactly. Red Lobster’s kitchen is filled with fryers, microwaves, and freezers. Mostly everything you eat there is pre-prepared, and its just getting thrown either in the fryer or in the microwave then getting thrown on a fancy plate so it looks nice. If people enjoy seafood then Red Lobster is a convenient and satisfying place to go. Some people find it appalling to eat at Red Lobster just because of the service of the employees. The reviews I found online were quit surprising. This one was written by (James J) and he says, “Terrible service! Things started out okay and went bad quick. The waitress was absolutely awful. We decided to go and have the all you can eat shrimp before it expired on a Saturday night at 6:30. The first round came out in a reasonable time but after that the waitress wouldn't even look at us! Finally we got the managers attention and explained how bad things were going. She was incredible! She proceeded to bring out more shrimp than we could eat! The only reason I gave the rating I did is because she made things better. The night was still a disaster but it would have been worse if it weren't for the manager. Overall grade "C-".” I read this and only to agree with some of it, because when I worked at Red Lobster the people that have worked there previously before me were not very welcoming. Then I read more reviews on the website I was on and I saw this by (Markeen C) saying, “Excellent service & delicious food. Everything about our visit was perfect. Our waiter "Elvis" was top notch. We were celebrating our Mother's 85th birthday. I must say that Elvis can sing. A party of 10 sometimes can be a challenge. Everything went smooth. We will definitely be back.” There is a server there named Elvis Peacock and he is probably the only one keeping going.
My argument to the quality of this restaurant is that I believe people give too much credit for what it actually is. If people knew how Red Lobster made their food, then most likely less people would continue eating there.
