These key points include, but are not limited to, early intervention, opportunities through law and eligibility for early intervention within early childhood special education. To start off the information that was given to help me with my thesis statement proved to be very beneficial on so many levels. I know that I must not be opinionated in my thesis over have it very cluttered. I’ve also learned how to successfully create an outline for an expository paper. Something that I have never tackled before. I now know that writing in third person is accurate in these types of papers. I’ve also found that creating a draft makes writing much easier. As I have stated before in discussion questions, I never stared with a draft in my papers and that proved to show in my grades from previous institutes. Correctly using the right sources to make my paper a collegiate paper was also something that I will cherish from this class. I found that correctly citing data retrieved from reliable sources made my essay flow and sound much better. It helped me get my point across because I had information to help me back up my claims. Also discussed in this class was the importance and benefits of using proper communication. I learned that effective communication can help us not only in school, but also in our career paths. In terms of emotional labor, psychologists often use the term “surface level emotional labor” to illustrate that a large part of dealing with people at work is basically “faking it” or displaying emotions we don't actually feel, like feigning interest, sympathy, or understanding (Brotheridge & Grandey, 2002). I disagree with this statement. So for example, a nurse who feels sympathetic at the sight of an injured child has no need to act' (Chu, 2002). As a matter of fact, she will be able help the child, be sympathetic and be herself. As a result, that nurse is probably more likely to enjoy her work, a positive impact from the performance of emotional labor. Chu would call this emotional labor the provision of an altruistic service. The sense of gratification is a psychological benefit to the Front Line Service Workers and can act as a reason for being a Front Line Service Workers, or as an alleviator of pain suffered during the course of work or otherwise. An 11-year-old, male patient with history of vasculitic autonomic neuropathy diagnosed at University of Michigan Hospital by nerve biopsy, presented to the ED with pain in his hands and feet for the last 2 days and flare up of "Chilblain" symptoms. No signs of swelling or change in color, no rash, no erythema, No lesion, no fever, and no change in his walking. He was admitted to the floor for IV steroid and pain management. When we received the sign-out from the ED doctor on this case; I was wondering what “chilblains” means and how I can manage it. The term chilblains is a descriptive word usually referring to an idiopathic medical condition, often cold-induced vasculopathy characterised by dusky red-purple nodules over skin of the hands and feet (Collins, Arnold, & Kissel, 2013). Chilblain is a clinical diagnosis; therefore, it is important to obtain a detailed history and do a comprehensive physical examination to exclude associated conditions, such as systematic disease or connective tissue disorder.
