Religion and Ethnic Diversity

The religion I chose is Buddhism; I chose this religion because it interests me. The language that was used in Theravada Buddhism is Pali. Buddhism was formed in 100 BCE (Before the Common Era). Theravada means “Doctrine of the Elders”.
Buddhism differs from other religious groups because in Buddhism there is no god while in other religions there is. “A Buddha is not an incarnation of a god/God (as claimed by some Hindu followers). The relationship between a Buddha and his disciples and followers is that of a teacher and a student”. (G.R. Lewis, 2006) Buddhism also has “perpetual cycles of rebirth”, (G.R. Lewis, 2006) this is not found in other religions.
Buddhism has contributed to American culture because “Buddhist ideas appear in New Age religions, psychology, medicine, and sports and business.” (R&E, 2001) Zen is a part of Buddhist beliefs and is used in many different places in American culture. Many Americans also believe in karma which is the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences. This means if you do something bad or good it decides your fate, so most believers want to do good so their fate is good.
Discrimination against Buddhism would be against Buddhist women. Women, even nuns have been discriminated against because women are considered inferior to men. There is a great deal of gender inequality. They believe this happens because of the Asian culture, where women are inferior to men. The sources of these discriminations came from the Buddhist men.
I understand Buddhism way better now that I have learned more. I always thought that Buddha was a God and have learned that Buddha is not a God. I also learned that Buddhist men get treated differently than the women do.

The racial/ethnic group that I chose is
