Early History PepsiCo traces its origins to 1898 when Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist in New Bern, North Carolina, created a curative drink for dyspepsia called Pepsi-Cola. Pepsi-Cola, later referred to simply as Pepsi, was a mixture of carbonated water, cane-sugar syrup, and an extract from tropical kola nuts. To sell his product, Bradham formed the Pepsi-Cola Company in 1903. In addition to selling the drink at drugstore counters, Bradham bottled Pepsi for sale on store shelves. At this time, bottling was a new innovation in food packaging. However, due to major increases in the price of sugar, Bradham began to lose money on Pepsi, and in 1923 he filed for bankruptcy. ...awareness about its flavours so as to increase its sales. Initially I started by visiting retailer’s outlets with Pre-sales Representatives (PSRs) to know the basic routine work of merchandising & taking sales order. There I came to know about the importance of merchandising in FMCG sector as it deals with display of all products in such a way that it stimulates interest and entices customers to make a purchase. So I worked on rectifying execution in A and core outlets in terms of cooler charging, warm display & FMO (Focused Month Objective) execution. I had also to maintain cooler purity which means that Pepsi cooler has to be filled only with Pepsi products according to Plan-O-gram, which defines the particular manner of displaying Pepsi products in cooler. Next step was to observe and keep a track of all other competitive brands which were affecting the sales of Pepsi products. Side by side I was studying fruit juice market in Trivandrum which is developing steadily as consumer preferences are changing due to greater disposable income & increase in health consciousness. To know about the retailer’s awareness about Tropicana fruit juices I performed a retailer’s survey through which I came to know about how much aware are retailer’s about Tropicana’s brand & its flavours. I also provided retailers about the details of Tropicana & its flavours if they were unaware about it. PEPSICO IN INDIA INTRODUCTION PepsiCo gained entry to India in 1988 by...

...method and the direct method. “The indirect method also known as reconciliation method starts with net income and converts it to net cash flow from operating activities.” (Explanation, 2011) The indirect method records net income for transactions that relates to net income but not cash. To calculate net cash flow from operating activity charges that are non-cash in the income statement are added back to net income and non –cash credits are deducted from net income. (Weil, 2014) The greatest advantage of the indirect method is it concentrates on the difference between net income and net cash flow from operating activities which ties together the statement of cash and the income statement. There’s a Syringe in My Pepsi Can!”

...In case 9-1, PepsiCo, the makers of Pepsi-Cola and Diet Pepsi, was a target of a scam that created a crisis for the company. PepsiCo was blamed, in multiple claims, for selling cans of Diet Pepsi with foreign objects inside. The issue first arose as only a local problem but soon escalated into a widespread, national news story and became a crisis in the “point of no return” stage for Pepsi. The first case of a foreign object found in an unopened can of Diet Pepsi was reported on June 9, 1993 in Tacoma, Washington. Washington residents reported finding a used syringe in a half-empty Diet Pepsi can (325). Only one local television station reported on this story. The following day, another claim was made in Washington, and in the course of one week, more than 50 incidents of foreign objects, including sewing needles, screws and a bullet, being found in Diet Pepsi cans were reported in 24 states. The issue was now on the national level, and news media all over the country were reporting on the widespread claims. Adding to this obstacle was the pattern of claims, some of which were fatal, regarding product tampering. Pepsi could not see any rational reason for the reported incidents and decided against recalling the product. By insisting that its high-tech production lines produce cans of soda too fast to allow for the entrance of a foreign object, that the objects being described were not those commonly found in a factory, and that the canning factories of the reportedly...
