...Foreign Direct Investment in the Indian Telecommunications Sector By Keith Green Abstract This paper will examine the current status of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Indian telecommunications sector and the issues facing foreign companies seeking to invest in the Indian telecommunications sector. The paper concludes with a brief econometric examination of the factors influencing the level of FDI in the Indian telecommunications sector. Introduction In the early 1990s India began to open up an economy that was previously closed to foreign direct investment (FDI). The liberalization in India included the gradual granting of authority for foreign direct investment in specific sectors of the economy. India has received significant inflows of foreign direct investment after liberalizing its economy in 1991 (see Figure 1 in the appendix). FDI inflows to India have exceeded many other ASEAN countries over time. However, China, not depicted in Figure 1, continues to be the leading destination for FDI in the Asia-Pacific region. India has achieved substantive improvements in telecommunications access since opening its telecommunications sector in the early 1990s. However, India has realized fewer benefits than were possible during the period of market reform. The slow implementation pace of liberalization, disparity between urban and rural areas and unclear regulations have impeded the flow of investment to the telecommunications sector in comparison to other emerging market...

...head: MARKETING RESEARCH PAPER Marketing Research Paper Name University Marketing Research Paper – Kudler Fine Foods Gathering reliable information is a crucial activity before the deployment of a rewarding marketing plan. Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty grocery store located in the San Diego Metropolitan area that focuses on high-end food products. The company hopes to expand its scope of operations and boost the loyalty of its customer base. In order to achieve these goals, the company will conduct marketing research to identify opportunities and threats that exist in the external environment (Staff 2012). Marketing research can be defined as the process of collecting custom data and competitive intelligence that will enable managers to make value-adding decisions. The following paper will analyze the importance of marketing research as it relates to the business plan of Kudler Fine Foods. Areas that Require Additional Marketing Research Kudler Fine Foods has enjoyed a high rate of success in the regional grocery store industry, but there are areas of weakness in the business model that must be explored. Currently, the company is only taking advantage of newspaper advertisements in the local area to run sales. The importance of newspaper as a marketing medium is rapidly diminishing for many businesses. Younger generations of consumers do use printed newspapers to obtain information in their daily lives – rather they opt to use social media, mobile technology, and...

Erp Security Management

...Anthony Wataka Accounting Information Systems Information Security Management within ERP Systems Research Paper Introduction This paper will discuss research on Information Security Management (ISM) within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems since information security continues to be a hot topic in the business world. The major focus of the paper will be threefold: an analysis of the ERP systems in the present day, a relation of these systems to the accounting and auditing world, and finally, the future of the technology, given its vast impact in the business world. Notable ERP Systems Research Key research pertinent to this paper includes the works of Grabski et al. (2011) who discuss various issues relating to the security environment, as regards the ERP systems. They talk about the risk associated with ERP systems implementation and define it as a “problem that has not occurred but has the potential to cause loss” (Grabski et al. 2011, p. 55). They mention that there is a need for ERP audit techniques, such as embedded audit modules, to control security risks (2011, p.55). This paper will utilize their research work to analyze auditing in an ERP environment by examining security risks and internal controls after ERP implementation. Additionally, Hunton et al. (2004) try to address the issue of risk associated with ERP systems, in the context of auditing (p.1-23). Hunton et al. (2004) analyze how financial auditors compare ERP systems related risks to...

Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Parallels to this concept can be drawn with the electricity grid, where end-users consume power without needing to understand the component devices or infrastructure required to provide the service. Cloud computing describes a new supplement, consumption, and delivery model for IT services based on Internet protocols, and it typically involves provisioning of dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources It is a byproduct and consequence of the ease-of-access to remote computing sites provided by the Internet. This frequently takes the form of web-based tools or applications that users can access and use...

...you receive on a regular basis, the more likely you are to recognize opportunities as they emerge. You can build your ability to recognize opportunities by holding jobs that put you on ‘‘the cutting edge’’ (e.g., jobs in research and development or marketing), by building a large social network, and by having rich and diverse job—and life—experiences. Steps you can take to increase your access to knowledge: (Hint: Can you increase the breadth of your social network? Read a wider range of magazines, including ones related to your field? Describe these and other steps here.) n Organize your knowledge. Knowledge that is organized is much more useful than knowledge that is not. As you acquire new information, you should actively seek to relate it to what you know so that connections between existing and new information come clearly into focus. Information that is connected and organized in this manner is easier to remember—and to use—than information that it is not. Steps you can take to organize the knowledge that you have more systematically and logically: (Hint: When you learn something new, do you try to relate it to information and knowledge you already have? Marketing Myopia

...Section: Published: 6th Sense of Business Wednesday, May 16 - 2007 at 12:59 (GMT+4) Marketing Myopia – The Converging World You may be familiar with Theodore Levitt's classic paper - 'Marketing Myopia'. It called on marketers to redefine their competition and alerted them not to have a narrow short term view of their market. It spoke about how firms lost hold of markets because they were product-focused rather than customer-focused. The paper can be found at the Harvard Business Online site if readers want to download the original article. To quote: 'The railroads did not stop growing because the need for passenger and freight transportation declined. That grew. The railroads are in trouble today not so much because that need was filled by others (cars, trucks, airplanes, and even telephones), but because it was not filled by the railroads themselves. They let others take customers away from them because they assumed themselves to be in the railroad business rather than in the transportation business. The reason they defined their industry incorrectly was that they were railroad oriented instead of transportation oriented; they were product oriented instead of customer oriented.' Levitt's paper and the same principles still hold great relevance for present day businesses. From a client and market research consultancy perspective these are still amongst the key questions we are asking today. In market research if we define the competitive framework too narrowly our clients...
