Writing Reflection

...Writing research papers have always been a struggle for me. I procrastinate. I read and then I stress about writing. Then under complete stress I sit down and write. Law School is going to be different. I will address my strengths and weakness as they relate to writing a research paper and create a plan of action that will be a different approach then before. This is turn will make my time in law school enjoyable and less stressful. Speed is my weakness. I take my time while writing and constantly edit. What I mean by that is I sit down and as I am typing I think about each sentence as I write. Many times I edit several previous sentences. Instead of sitting down and just typing down ideas I have, I think about each sentence I write and how...

How to Write an Mba Research Paper

...How to Write an MBA Research Paper If you got an assignment to write a research paper and you want to deliver a great one, you have to first understand what a research paper actually is – it is an argument or discussion that is founded on a certain thesis; and it includes collected evidence and quotations from authoritative sources. When you get your first research paper, it may seem like an overwhelming task, but it’s actually not that complicated if you understand the process and follow it as you should. First of all, make sure you supply yourself with some index cards, highlighters and a lot of note paper. Step 1: Organize! The first thing you need to do before starting to write the research paper is organize your time and schedule. Here is a list of your tasks: 1. Choose an interesting, captivating topic that will be useful for the reader. 2. Search for authoritative sources associated with your topic. 3. Collect your initial thoughts by taking notes (using index cards can be useful during the process). 4. Organize those notes and arrange them by topics. 5. Prepare your basic outline for the research paper. 6. Start writing the initial draft version. 7. Edit and correct the draft version. 8. Proofread the paper! The process of researching Although you may think that the Internet has made the process of library research kind of silly, you mustn’t avoid it. In fact, the library can provide you with the most authoritative resources, which...

Reflective Essay About White Feminism

...like to think of myself as a creative person. I had my doubts about taking a class that required so much writing in a little amount of time but I took on the challenge head first, just like I do with the rest of my problems. In my first essay I wrote my argument paper about how “white feminism” isn't as inclusive as it claims to be and discriminates against numerous minority groups. I chose this topic because it’s something I’m extremely passionate about. I’ve been officers of several social justice orhinatiocs and I’m always up for rallying for human rights. The arguments that I made in this essay were showcasing a couple of ways that “white feminism” left minority groups feeling left out and not worthy of a voice within social justice platforms. Such as Patricia Arquette giving a speech about how minority groups did not help out feminism, even though many people in minority also identify as women....

Example Of A Critical Reflection

...When entering a graduate class such as evidence-based practice, I didn’t think I would have challenges that I would face when researching a topic to write a paper, since during school we had to do several research writings. As I progressed in this class, there were a few challenges I faced when conducting a partial literature review for a topic that interested me. It was important for me to find a topic that I could understand and relate to that demonstrates quality work. I wanted to focus my research on a topic that I experience a lot when many of patients receive chemotherapy. The challenging part of writing a literature review was being able to find a topic that I will identify and locate an appropriate number of research articles that...

Reflection Summary

...decisions based on the four lenses, where each had a different perspective in the decision-making process. In this summary, Team D will compare and contrast the usefulness of doing assignments based on simulations as opposed to writing paper s that answer questions. Team D will also make a decision regarding which we prefer as a team and provide the reasons. When comparing the usefulness of doing assignments based on simulations as opposed to writing papers that mostly answer questions, Team D finds there are differences between the two. Doing assignments based on simulations is a structured approach, which gives the opportunity for a more hands learning experience. Writing papers that mostly answer questions is a different approach that externalizes our learning. One needs to find information to answer the questions asked when writing a paper. This may require some research and a different thought process than simulation learning. Therefore, we can say that simulations are an internalized approach to learning and writing papers that mostly answer questions is an approach that externalizes the information. When contrasting the usefulness of doing assignments based on simulations as opposed to writing papers that mostly answer questions, Team D...

Personal Narrative: Art Censorship

...Throughout my 8th grade writing career, I have changed a lot. I used to despise writing assignments, and I always procrastinate when I have to work at home. Now I find myself enjoying some of the writing tasks. I still think some papers are pointless, but I have started to enjoy prompts such as narrative writing. In fact, I have even started to write my own story for fun. As a writer, I’d say I use pretty good language. I can describe things well, I’m good at organization, but I can improve on all of these. I also need to work on concentrating so that I don’t have to work late. A writer always has room to grow. While one may be excellent in some parts of writing, they’re not the best at everything. For me, I’d say I’m good at descriptions,...

Self Reflection Papers

...Being at Allegheny for this semester has taught me a lot about my writing habits. In almost all of my papers, I stray way off track just to make a point that needed one sentence of explanation. During the time I sent on my final portfolio, I really tried to focus on getting the point across in much shorter detail and making sure I am staying on topic. The thing that has helped me the most is the feedback I am receiving from you and my classmates. I decided to begin with my original research paper, which is my text of choice, and follow with my final draft of my research paper. My main reasoning behind that was to show how I interpreted the feedback from the in-class peer review. In my first draft, I only mentioned Willard Cutter in the first two paragraphs and the closer. During the research process, I had a very hard time finding information on Willard himself and not the Civil War in general, and that really shows in my paper. So during my revisions, I went back to special collections and incorporated information during those specific events and some of what Willard wrote to his family. With this, I made sure my paper has much more to do with Willard Cutter than just the main events of the Civil War, helping me stay more on topic...

Discourse Community Reflection

...I believe that my discourse community helped with picking a topic before writing and researching for this annotated bibliography. My previous education never prepared me for writing an annotated bibliography. However, I feel my professor made this process very difficult and unrealistic in developing writing skills for this assignment. I thought some assignments were a bit pointless, they required a lot on my part to stay focus with the course lessons or withdrawal from the class. After applying the rules of a discourse community help me to identify my topic’s discourse community for my research, I felt stronger towards my opinion because the topic was interesting and related to my career field. However, I learned the importance strategies for...

Computers in Education

...Education has been changing so much in the last few years with the introduction to the computers both in the classroom and at home with the students. Students are no longer expected to write papers but type them up; Papers are no longer expected to be just writing but integrated with pictures and graphs; Projects have also changed from who can learn the most to who can make it look good. Computers have revolutionized education, but not without a cost. The cost is the quality of education some students receive. Computers take time students would normally use reading and researching so that they can make their project or paper more attractive. Time is taken away because teachers have not looked upon quality lately, and teachers don’t grade harshly if it looks good. Papers have such a high expectation of visibility and a low expectation of quality these days. This theory has been tested by both students and experts and has been found to be true. The same paper in a different form with more pictures and charts will get a significantly better grade then one of just writing. They have also found that the same paper when written, as opposed to typed, will receive a significantly lower grade then the one done on the computer. This shows the paradigm shift that has taken place over the years from quality to computerization. If a medium could be reached where students put as much time and effort into the contents of their work as they did into the look of their work it could easily be said...

The One

...downs. I've been able to write papers but I've always needed a little bit of help to complete them. My mom has always been there when I am having problems writing papers. There have been times where I am amazing at them and knock them out like nothing. These are papers are usually short stories or something I can relate to. Then theres times where nothing comes to me and it seems like it takes forever to write them. When writing the papers one of the difficulties came from what I was writing about. In high school papers stressed me out because I knew I was going to have trouble with them. When I had to write my paper for chemistry, I worried about the length, how many citation, and how to cite it. I ask myself how does confidence impact my ability to write? On the one hand the papers I have the most confidence writing and I favor the most are ones where we have to tell a made up story or about a life event. I can write these very easily because I can remember the event very vividly or can make up a story with lots of detail. With event stories I usually just remember then write and occasionally go back to reread and fill some parts with more detail. In high school one of the first papers I had to write in my English class about a life event that changed your life. I thought to myself this is really easy to write about. I had an idea and there was no length on the paper so I didn't have to worry about how long it was. I was ready for this paper. I had confidence and I knew inside...

Lying Topic Analysis

While thinking of the perfect topic, I had to reject a few ideas such as doctors lying to their patients just so they could get more money. I believe that my topic evolved because I was not able to think of things that bother me but now I am able to get down to the little things and hopefully allow the readers to understand where I am coming from. The writing process is different because with this essay, I have to incorporate secondary sources while the other essays did not require them. During this process, so far, I had to narrow down my topic. My starting topic of...

Reflective Essay: My Growth As A Writer

...The final position paper helped me grow as a writer even more than the previous two essays we have done. The reason I feel this way is because as I was beginning to write the paper I caught myself analysing what I was writing from the beginning, and not just waiting to look back at the end. My writing style matured also while writing this paper. I realized what words to avoid and found acceptable words to replace the ones I could not use. These are reasons I believe I grew as a writer from this one paper. Even though I did grow as a writer through this paper it does not mean it was a smooth writing process. Researching was not hard because I already had most of my sources and new exactly what I was looking for in the new articles I had to find. Once I had all of the sources I needed to write this paper is when the challenges appeared. I had troubles finding a good introduction to start my paper, and my thesis was not turning out how I wanted it to. After I finally got an introduction that was decent I focused on writing my body paragraphs. Organization was something I had struggled with in the past, so I spent time deciding what order I should write ideas in each paragraph. This was frustrating at times because it seemed like no matter how I organized the details it did not...
