Research Proposal
WRI 102
Statement of the problem “A problem might be defined as the issue that exists in the literature, theory, or practice that leads to a need for the study” (Creswell, 1994, p. 50)
A problem statement should be presented within a context, and that context should be provided and briefly explained, including a discussion of the conceptual or theoretical framework in which it is embedded. Clearly and succinctly identify and explain the problem within the framework of the theory or line of inquiry that undergirds the study. This is of major importance in nearly all proposals and requires careful attention. * The Ebola epidemic is the largest in the history, affecting multiple countries in West Africa. Poverty, lack of adequate medical facilities, inadequate education, cultural/social barriers and political inertia are but a few factors that facilitate the spread of this disease which undermining the hard-won economic and social gains that many African countries were able to make. The impact of Ebola is pervasive and far-reaching, affecting individuals and communities not only psychologically but also economically and socially. Families lose their most productive members to this disease, leaving children and elderly people with no support. The high cost of the disease wreaks havoc within communities where the already fragile structures are not capable of absorbing further strain.
Purpose of the study
“The purpose statement should provide a specific and accurate synopsis of the overall purpose of the study” (Locke, Spirduso, & Silverman, 1987, p. 5). If the purpose is not clear to the writer, it cannot be clear to the reader. * The purpose of the Ebola virus study was to investigate on how this virus started in West Africa and how it affected the community psychologically and economically. Moreover, to show what are the national efforts that are done for fighting back against the disease and how to solve the obstacles rose by the virus. In addition, the research provides some information and general awareness on how to avoid the disease as much as possible through doing simple habits.

Research Questions 1- What is Ebola virus and what is its history? 2- Does the world seem indifferent? Why did it hit Africa specially? 3- What national efforts are done to stop the virus from spreading?
Significance of the Study * The research study could provide information on the issues of Ebola virus particularly on how is it affecting the economy and the psychology of people. Further, the study also will give a general background about the virus and how was it was originated in West Africa. It will be beneficial to raise awareness for this virus in this research to show people how dangerous and deadly this virus can be. Finally, some advices will be provided on how to avoid the virus as much as possible.
Challenges Expected 1- Finding strong credible resources that will support my thesis. 2- Organizing ideas with the aspect to importance of each idea. 3- Lack of credible statistics. 4- Starting the introduction.
