Visualize a time where your opinions are heard. Visualize a time where you aren’t scared to go outside because your community is safe. Visualize a time with a government that isn’t corrupt and wants to see innovation throughout the entirety of your country. President Donald Trump’s inaugural address displayed many rhetorical devices such as diction, and pathos to reveal the intended audience and the main purpose of uniting America through the work of the people. As soon as Trump starts his speech, Trump uses a repetitious diction, and a lighthearted tone to thank previous presidents, a court martial, the people of America, and all people around the entire world. Contrasting with the lighthearted tone, Trump’s diction changes the tone of the speech multiple times throughout his speech. Also, Trump uses couple anaphoras such as, “We will face challenges. Throughout the entire inaugural speech, Trump tries to uncover excerpts of reality such as relating to the struggling families across the United States and the forgotten men that will be unveiled during his presidency. Once again, Trump tries to relate to the American families by stating that families want good schools, safe neighborhoods for their family, and good jobs to support their loved ones. Trump’s tone began to switch midway through exemplifying ways that he will change America to benefit the people. Trump began to start talking with a sinister tone and then started to attack controversial topics such as poverty, crime, and drugs that have taken the lives of many Americans. These details of the hidden aspects of American lives, give the people room to be able to relate to the examples Trump is trying to broadcast to the citizens to change the minds of those that are distraught about the ambiguous situation that America is currently
