Vietnamization was a plan to reduce and ultimately end American involvement in the Vietnam War. The policy was one of Richard Nixon’s administration. The policy was referring to the ground combat troops in Vietnam not the combat of the US Air Force. It called for the expansion on training of South Vietnam forces, along with expanding and equipping South Vietnam armed forces. This policy came about following the Tet Offensive of 1968. The policy fit into Nixon’s boarder policy of relaxing of US involvement in containing Communism, and the US becoming a cooperative world order.
