When you think of Star Wars who comes to mind? Luke Skywalker? Han Solo? Darth Vader? Well, the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story aired during the Olympics this week. Set between Episodes III and IV, the story centers around Rogue One Squadron, the group of people who steal the plans to the Death Star. Their presence is alluded to in Episode IV before the final climatic battle. Since the movie’s announcement fans everywhere have been dying to see trailers for the film, and they were not disappointed.

Capitalizing on the Rio Olympics, the second trailer was released during primetime. Sticking to the first trailer’s grim tone, fans caught a glimpse of the universe in the grip of the rising Empire. According to Forbes, this universe is a “grounded and ‘dirt and blood in the fingernails’ Star Wars 'war' story.” Fans are already speculating about Felicity Jones’ character, Jyn Erso, and how she might tie in with the rest of the characters at-large. To fans delight, a brief glimpse of Darth Vader was shown in the end while other shots of Jones’ character facing an Imperial ship will likely get more fans talking. …show more content…
According to Wired, K-2SO is a “Villainous robot who’s been programmed to help the Rebellion.” Calling his character a “new quirky droid” by USA Today, the droid reminds fans of C-3PO’s knack for stating the odds in every dangerous situation while telling Erso that he would not kill her.

Mendelsohn’s character is sure to be the main villain in the movie, but not much has been released about him. Chirrut Imwe, portrayed by Donnie Yen, declares that “he fears nothing” as he takes down a group of dangerous

Star Wars Persuassive Essay

...Star Wars, a legacy that has been around since 1977. Star Wars truly stood the test of time in many ways: a wide fan base, well written story, and a lot of content. The fan base for Star Wars is rampant with the amount of people that adore Star Wars. The fan base starts with the older generation which is the group that saw the first three movies (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) which are called the sequels. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, knew how to draw people in by the story. The most noticeable things about Star Wars is the opening crawl text, the film scores, and Darth Vader’s voice/ breathing. Then to the second generation of Star Wars fans which were around during the prequels (The Phantom Menace, The Clone Wars, and Revenge of the Sith). The Phantom Menace came out in 1999. These movies had a lot of CGI (Computer Generated Images). It advanced technology because they did what some people couldn’t in film making. The older generation was still around when these came out and were still hyped about more Star Wars and the origin of some of the characters stories. Now we have new movies with Disney buying LucasFilm. These will affect the third generation. The only movie we know of continuing from Return of the Jedi is The Force Awakens which comes out in less than a month. Just from the trailers it shows a very well written story. People bought movies theaters out in less than a day when they were able to be purchased. It’s rare for that...

...set the stage. 200 years ago there was a nuclear war. Russia was in chaos, with all citizens panicking or dead. Most of the fallout is still there, except for one spot in the mountains. The government thinks this is a perfect opportunity to “fix” society, just like in the Soviet Union. In Ayn Rand’s story Anthem, there is a society ruled by a council where you have no sense of self. The main character, Equality 7-2521, suspected the Council of not being what they seem. He realizes later in the story that they are holding back advancements in their civilization on purpose. Many people think that something like this is much to horrific to ever happen. The problem with that argument is that history repeats itself. Anthem is a...

Heroes

...Heroes After more than 10 years of combat, the media has given many soldiers the title of hero. Jessica Lynch was one Soldier who was given the title hero. Was she truly a hero? What actions merited such a label? Pat Tillman also received the coveted title of hero, despite much controversy. Pat Tillman’s label of heroism occurred because of his strong social status. However, the word hero in Tillman’s case was misused to disguise actual events or cover up the misfortunes of war. Shoshona Johnson would be called a hero as well. Shoshana Johnson and Lynch were captured the same day but because of race, one hero would receive more accolades than the other. These soldiers wanted to share the truth, but media’s opportunity to transform them into hero took precedence. All of these heroes received differential treatment based on their gender, race or social status. Jessica Lynch seemed to be the perfect candidate to depict as an American Hero. Lynch is 5’6, 130 lbs. with blonde hair and blue eyes (Fluharty). With Barbie doll like qualities, Jessica not only served as an American Soldier, but possessed the beauty necessary to attract attention of viewers and develop a great story. The War on Terrorism has allowed news anchors to televise and participate in more combat related events than ever before, yet truth is often skewed to give a better news line story. The events that led to her capture in Iraq in 2003 were exaggerated from the very beginning. Reports stated that...

Plot

...Plot summary Gone with the Wind takes place in the southern United States in the state of Georgia during the American Civil War (1861–1865) and the Reconstruction Era (1865–1877) that followed the war. The novel unfolds against the backdrop of rebellion wherein seven southern states, Georgia among them, have declared their secession from the United States (the "Union") and formed the Confederate States of America (the "Confederacy"), after Abraham Lincoln was elected president with no ballots from ten Southern states where slavery was legal. A dispute over states' rights has arisen[10] involving enslaved African people who were the source of manual labor on cotton plantations throughout the South. The story opens in April 1861 at the "Tara" plantation, which is owned by a wealthy Irish immigrant family, the O'Haras. The reader is told Scarlett O'Hara, the sixteen-year-old daughter of Gerald and Ellen O'Hara, "was not beautiful, but"[11] had an effect on men, especially when she took notice of them. It is the day before the men are called to war, Fort Sumter having been fired on two days earlier. There are brief but vivid descriptions of the South as it began and grew, with backgrounds of the main characters: the stylish and highbrow French, the gentlemanly English, the forced-to-flee and looked-down-upon Irish. Miss Scarlett learns that one of her many beaux, Ashley Wilkes, is soon to be engaged to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. She is stricken at heart. The following day at...

Stealth

...Executive Producer was Arnold Messer. The movie starts out with wording and music, similar to Star Wars, giving the prologue of the movie. I feel that the Director’s vision is that he is trying to warn us about what the future is capable of happening, if we put “brains” in computers. In this thesis I will be telling you about the movie so you will be able to understand what is happening. I will also be telling you who is in the movie and what their roles are, the style and directing of the movie. I will also Critique the film regarding the flaws that was done, the editing to the style and the acting. The Original music was done by BT. Music plays throughout the movie; the colors are neutral at the beginning of the movie with certain key items showing full color, in one scene a United States flag is flying on a building. Dean Semler does the Cinematography’s work. His work includes Secretariat (2010) and Mad Max: Fury Road (pre-production) (2012). Stephen Rivhin did the film editing. His most recent work was Avatar (2009), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006). Making a movie is a genuinely collaborative effort. Large films employ literally hundreds of people who work together to create the finished product. Yet as with any endeavor that enlists the labor of so many people, there must be one person with the power and the overall vision to make sure that all the pieces come together as...

End of World

...there, the science behind the end of the world quickly unravels when pinned down to the 2012 timeline. Below, NASA Scientists answer several questions that we're frequently asked regarding 2012. Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012. Answer (A): Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012. Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012? A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012. Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012? A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on...
