Roman Byuck, from The Right Fight, by Chris Lynch, joined the war just like my uncle did. Roman joined the U.S. army to protect his country and everything that he loves. Roman enlisted to the Army, and there he learned how to operate a tank. He was placed in a tank with his good pals Logan, Wyatt, Pacifico, and his commander. With his group he traveled into the unknown territory of north Africa. Roman Byuck is the average height of about 5 foot 10 inches. He has short brown hair that matches his dark brown eyes. He has a small, black tattoo of a baseball player on his upper arm. You can see his Indian heritage in his tanned face. Always saying something like, “We can’t lose this war.” He is very positive in the sense that he has a lot of confidence in himself and his crew. Roman is loving to his fiance and friends, but during the war he is mainly caring for Pacifico as he goes partially deaf later in the book. During one of the many battles that Roman partook in, his buddy/co-pilot/machine gunner, Pacifico, went partially deaf. There was a plane that had a built in siren, and it was making an awful and loud noise. Pacifico had matched the noise in volume and in pitch. After that battle Roman knew something was awry when Pacifico didn't answer. Soon after, Pacifico confessed to Roman that he couldn’t hear too well. In later battles Roman had to yell, scream, or smack Pacifico to tell him something. At the end of the book, Roman and Pacifico went to a medical bay to send Pacifico home, they were hooping and hollering all the way there. Roman Byuck was just like my great-grandpa. Harold Dale, mt great-grandpa, was the commander of a tank in WW2. Unlike Roman, he was killed. Harold died on Armistice Day, The last day of the war. He was celebrating and got out of the tank.
