Romeo And Juliet Unrequited Love Research Paper

Love is usually described by the public as a feeling of warm, personal attachment or deep affection, commonly related to a parent, child, or friend. Love can bring two people together in a scene where it is them against the world, but it has also torn people to such an extent where their emotions are left like shredded up confetti. This can leave one believing in ridiculous and painful thoughts such as ‘Was it all a lie,’ or even thinking about themselves as unlovable. These two kinds of love can be identified as romantic love and its undesired counterpart, unrequited love. I find it ironic how love can be as romantic as writing beautiful poems under the stars and then crying yourself to sleep because your admirer “just don’t love you that way.”These two feelings of deep affection contradict each other in terms of reciprocation, but both can and have lead to chaos in stories, such as in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. …show more content…
Many may describe it leaving an atrocious feeling in one's stomach that may cause some to become oblivious to the world that surrounds them. A great example of this comes from Romeo and Juliet. In Act One, Scene 1, Romeo is speaking to his cousin/best friend ,Benvolio, about the utter pain he feels because the person he loves at the time, young Rosaline, did not receive his affections and return them back to him. New Moon

...New Moon By Stephenie Meyer Summary When the Cullens, including her beloved Edward, leave Forks rather than risk revealing that they are vampires, it is almost too much for eighteen-year-old Bella to bear, but she finds solace in her friend Jacob until he is drawn into a cult and changes in terrible ways For my dad, Stephen Morgan— No one has ever been given more loving and unconditional support than I have been given by you. I love you, too. These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which, as they kiss, consume. Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene VI PREFACE I FELT LIKE I WAS TRAPPED IN ONE OF THOSE TERRIFYING nightmares, the one where you have to run, run till your lungs burst, but you can't make your body move fast enough. My legs seemed to move slower and slower as I fought my way through the callous crowd, but the hands on the huge clock tower didn't slow. With relentless, uncaring force, they turned inexorably toward the end—the end of everything. But this was no dream, and, unlike the nightmare, I wasn't running for my life; I was racing to save something infinitely more precious. My own life meant little to me today. Alice had said there was a good chance we would both die here. Perhaps the outcome would be different if she weren't trapped by the brilliant sunlight; only I was free to run across this bright, crowded square. And I couldn't run fast enough. So it didn't matter to me that we were surrounded...

Maggie and Victor, a couple in their mid-fifties who were contemplating divorce after twenty-nine years of marriage, told me this story: "We met in graduate school," Maggie recalled. "We were renting rooms in a big house with a shared kitchen. I was cooking breakfast when I looked up and saw this man-Victor- walk into the room. I had the strangest reaction. My legs wanted to carry me to him, but my head was telling me to stay away. The feelings were so strong that I felt faint and had to sit down." Once Maggie recovered from shock, she introduced herself to Victor, and the two of them spent half the morning talking. "That was it," said Victor.
