Ave Maria

...Ave Maria Frank O’Hara’s “Ave Maria” can be a great voice for mothers depending on the way it is interpreted. The name of the poem itself literally holds a Latin meaning “Hail Mary.” Hail Mary is prayer to the Virgin Mary saluting her to the mother of God which conveys that this poem will reach out to mothers in a serious way. The first time I read this poem through I began to relate. I could relate to almost every part of the poem. Ave Maria can either be a good way of giving advice to a mother or it can be bad. Most will take the literal meaning but from my personal experience the literal meaning may not be the best way to go. O’Hara uses his thoughts, opinion and sarcasm to reach out to the mothers of America. speaks on parenting as a mother and their relationship with their child. Frank O’ Hara speaks on parenting as a mother and their relationship with their child. He began telling mothers to let their children out of the house. He quotes, “Mothers of America/ let your kids go to the movies (lines1&2)!” It’s good to let them get away from you so they won’t have to know what you, as a parent, are always doing. O’ Hara uses the movies as a way to get his point across because that is a common place where kids like to go alone. “When you grow old as grow old you must/ they won’t hate you (lines7&8).” That’s only because they won’t know how it is to be held in. As they’re out the child will feel to be in the best moments of their life. “They will know where candy bars came...

...school regulation will have a huge impact on their lives. To sufficiently influence policy makers, these parents need to be educated on the issues and involved in advocating for the new regulation. Their involvement will give ABC’s advocacy work the necessary visible support of young families. However, few young parents participate in ABC’s advocacy programs, preferring to join XYZ for their relevant information and support groups or LMN for their help in addressing problems in the school system. ABC recognizes that young parents have a limited amount of free time and wants to make it easy for them to participate in its advocacy efforts. In addition, ABC needs to be a good steward of its resources and not compete for clients with other organizations that are providing excellent complementary services. Purpose of the alliance The purpose of this alliance is to • Share information about the proposed school regulation • Recruit young parents into the project • Provide training to young parents so that they can assist in revising the proposed school regulation • Defray the costs of parent involvement in the project Outcomes An alliance of ABC, XYZ, and LMN (and perhaps other partners) will directly impact people with disabilities and their families and make a difference in their lives for years to come. The involvement of informed, concerned constituents will influence policy makers and help to make needed revisions in the proposed school regulation. The first steps Before...

Spanish Period

...The book, printed in Gothic letters and Tagalog1 characters on paper made from the paper mulberry, now browned and brittle with age, consists of thirty-eight leaves, comprising a title-page as above, under a woodcut2 of St. Dominic, with the verso originally blank, but in this copy bearing the contemporary manuscript inscription, Tassada en dos rreales, signed Juan de Cuellar; and seventy-four pages of text in Spanish, Tagalog transliterated into roman letters, and Tagalog in Tagalog characters. The size of the volume, which is unbound, is 9⅛ by 7 inches, [4]although individual leaves vary somewhat due to chipping. Some of the leaves have become separated from their complements, but enough remain in the original stitching to indicate that the book was originally made up in four gatherings, the first of twelve leaves, the second of ten, the third of ten, and the fourth of six. Although the book is of the size called quarto, the method of printing must have been page by page, so it is doubtful that each sheet was folded twice in the usual quarto manner, but more probable that it was printed four pages to a sheet of paper approximately 9⅛ by 14 inches, which was folded once. The volume is printed throughout by the xylographic method, that is to say, each page of text is printed from one wood-block which was carved by hand. Along the inner margins of some pages are vertical lines which were made by the inked edge of the block, and the grain of the wood has caused striations to appear...

Familial Death Rituals

...carried on from their family for years. Some religions greatly respect the dead, and honoring them is extremely important to their family death rituals. In this essay, I will reveal my family death rituals that have traditionally been practiced over the years, and state the current death rituals that are still practiced today. The Catholic religion beliefs was all I knew while growing up, and our family respected and always made time to attended a rosary and burial service for the person that has passed. Since Mexicans are incredibly family oriented, and to be involved of a loved one or close friend funeral is an important gesture to do in life. When someone in our family passes, we usually contact all family members and set up a proper burial service for them. The funeral process includes a rosary praying service the night before the burial, praying the rosary is a Mexican tradition and it includes the well-known prayers of the Apostles Creed, the Our Father (Lord's Prayer), the Hail Mary and the Glory Be (Williams). The rosary prayer is prayed with an open casket at a church, and then family members usually say some kind words of the person and the life he or she lived. Then, the following day everyone will meet at the cemetery for the burial service, and they are usually buried in the same area with other relatives that have passed. A short prayer is said then everyone gradually throw flowers and dirt on top of the casket to show their respects and it is their way in saying...

...Rienz Tolentino ELX101 Blessed Jacinta and Francisco Marto Shepherds of Fatima Jacinta, a six year old girl, and his brother Francisco, who is almost two years older than her, the son and daughter of Peter and Olympia Marto. Lucia dos Santos is their cousin who is nine-years-old. The three were always together. They carried their lunches with them in a pasture land. The three shepherds always pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Angel of God. After lunch they would recite the rosary together. Jacinta invented that instead of saying the complete prayers, one of the three would call, “Hail Mary!” and the other would answer, “Holy Mary!” They would simply end each decade with the two words “Our Father” One Evening, as they were leading the flocks home, Jacinta dropped behind Lucia and Francisco. “What are you doing?” Lucia asked in surprise as she noticed Jacinta walking in the middle of the sheep. “I want to be like Jesus in that holy picture they gave me”, Jacinta explained, “The picture has Jesus right in the middle of all the sheep. And he`s carrying one of them in his arms”. “No lamp is as beautiful as the Lord`s!” Francisco would declare to Lucia and Jacinta. “I like our Lady`s lamp better,” Jacinta would answer, (This was her name for the moon). “It`s not hot like our Lord`s. It doesn`t burn us,” One day after the three had eaten their lunch, a strong gust of wind rattled the trees and above the olive orchard at the foot of the hill, they saw a white figure...

Candle Making

...the candles. The Holland House Candles Inc. is the company making these elaborate candles. Each candle has to be done in 15 minutes or the wax will be come to cool to carve. Once started, the artist will quickly and efficiently make a beautiful decorative candle. At the beginning of the process the candle maker starts by dipping the wax base into the hot wax. Each time the candle maker dips the base into the wax they have to then dip it in water to seal the color of wax and ensure that the candle is staying the temperature needed to finish and sculpt the candle. Once the candle is finished with the wax, the candle maker then cuts off the base and sculpts a mushroom candle out of it, so there is no waste. The candle maker then starts sculpting the candle. Once this process starts the candle maker only has 15 minutes before the candle becomes to cool to sculpt. She uses the cookie cutter like tool to dig out some of the middle to ensure the candle burns down the middle and not over the edges ruining the design. Then, the candle maker uses a hot pan to melt the bottom of the candle to make an even bottom to apply the company sticker. Once this step is completed the candle maker then dips the candle into an acrylic glaze to seal everything and to give it a shiny look while burning. It is then set up to finish drying before being ready to sell. Waste created from the base of the candle is sculpted into a mushroom shaped smaller candle. The direct materials used in this process are...

Team Morale

...1. What is the major problem or opportunity facing Dave? The major problem that Dave is facing is the low morale of his team. From that issue, other issues have grown over time. The team does not work well together like it used to, the team has stopped caring for their trucks, and each member of the team has been vying for the new truck. Dave is also afraid of losing one of his team members because they would be hard to replace. 2. What are the courses of action available to the decision maker? Describe the possible impact of each action on the team members, the company, and Dave. Dave, the decision maker, can make an effort to increase the morale of his team through bonding programs or something similar. He also needs to select a better way to decide who gets the new truck. The first new truck went to a junior employee whose truck was not very old. This was the cause of the decrease in morale, which is likely because the senior employees whose trucks are older did not feel appreciated. Dave could give the second new truck to the member with the most seniority and the oldest truck, which would be George, but that may cause some issues still; other team members may feel like they are worth less than the others. Dave could randomly select who gets the truck by doing a drawing of some sort, but that may leave a feeling of unfairness amongst the team members. Dave could also make it a competition of some sort, but that will likely increase the tension between the team members...

Self-Interest in the Marketplace

...the individuals are at the very basic level are motivated to participate in a monetary transaction or other trades for the sake of making a living. Making a living or a good living is basically a motive to acquire and maintain the basic needs in life such as shelter, food, clothes among other luxuries along the way such as comfortable couch, or a cozy blanket and etc. To acquire a living at first, an individual is motivated to conduct himself in a marketplace and offer a product or service in return for a monetary value or factor that will help him/her attain a good living. Not necessarily does the maker or seller of the product creates and sells the product out of a good heart – he may, he may not – but to gain something else in return for him. The buyer may not necessarily buy the product just because it is just a good product, but also that it solves their need or want and the maker is trying to earn a living like everybody else. There is a chain to it – just like a food chain – it is a chain. John buys the raw material from Doyle to finish making a beverage that in return will be bought by customers, by more Doyles. Those customers are a provider (seller) of another product or service to another buyer who are their customers. ...Q1: What role do market makers play in the trading system? How do they profit from this role? How do the market makers compete with one another? A1: a. What role do market makers play in the trading system? The market makers play an important role in the trading system as catalysts, particularly for enhancing stock liquidity and, therefore, for promoting long-term growth in the market. In detail, they played two roles as below: 1) They act as brokers handling the limit order book, where limit and stop order are maintained. 2) They act as dealers by buying and selling stocks for their own accounts to maintain an orderly market and provide liquidity to the market if there is an inadequate order flow. b. How do they make profit from this role? A market maker makes money by buying stock at a lower price than the price at which they sell it, or selling the stock at a higher price than they buy it back. Ordinarily they can make money in either rising or falling markets, by taking advantage of the difference between "bid" and "offer" prices. c. How do the market makers compete with one another? 1) Each market maker competes for customer order flow by displaying buy and sell quotations for a guaranteed number of shares. Once an order is received, the market maker immediately sells from his own inventory or seeks an offsetting order. 2) Market makers also compete against each other to post the best prices, and the prices they offer which are available, in...
