Brain studies show that when a child is neglected in young years, their brains are stunted as they grow. Ruckel was beaten if he didn’t listen in his orphanage, and by the time he got adopted he couldn’t understand why they were so nice to him. However, Tree-ear was fed and loved the moment he was born and still is. If a child doesn’t get enough attention, then that child won’t accept affection as an adult as well as a loved child would.
