So, according to this definition, there are four stages: (1) Collection of data (2) Presentation of data (3) Analysis of data and (4) Interpretation of data. Example of Statistics: Examples include the average starting salary of college graduates, the number of deaths due to road accidents last year, and 20% students of BBA are female. In these examples statistics are a value or a percentage. Other examples include: 95% students of BBA come to the class in time. 25% students of IBA come to the campus by car. ...displays, etc. My memory works to its fullest potential with being able to refer to a physical idea and remember what was seen. Rather than reading alone, my preference for learning from graphs, videos or statistics is great. For example learning for me is enhanced if objects are used during a demonstration. According to VARK my preferred learning styles is multimodal and mild kinesthetic, a score of 6 for visual, 1 for aural, 2 for reading/writing and an 8 for kinesthetic. Multimodal means learning from multiples sources in various forms to solidify understanding. Since kinesthetic is my strongest learning preference. Recommended strategies include using all senses (sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing, hands on trips/tours/exhibits/samples, use of real life examples, photographs, trial and error, collection of objects and referring to previous papers/exams and prior solutions to problems. Additional strategies include case studies, utilizing other “k” people, recalling, even going back to a physical place or the use of “real” things that have occurred. With the learning kinesthetic strategies states “lecture notes may be poor because the topics were not ‘concrete’ or relevant”. (VARK Limited Learn, 2016). Good examples to utilize information according to the kinesthetic recommendations could be to write practice answers and paragraphs, even role-play a test scenario in my own room. Visual, aural, read/wrist, kinesthetic (VARK) is a learning assessment to understand how...

Leadership

...The 19th century Great Man theory believes that people inherit certain qualities and traits that make them better suited to leadership, claiming there are specific inborn characteristics which predispose people to be and become leaders. There is a significant difference between ‘learning a skill’ and ‘mastering one’, in the same way that some are born with outstanding musical or athletic talents. They will excel naturally in these areas but in others they would be like a fish out of water. This theory is supported by a 2013 research from UCL (University College London). The study is the first to identify a specific DNA sequence associated with the tendency for individuals to occupy a leadership position. Using a large twin sample, the international research team, which included academics from Harvard, New York University, and the University of California, estimate that a quarter of the observed variation in leadership behaviour between individuals can be explained by genes passed down from their parents. Although challenging the conventional wisdom that ‘leadership is a  skill’, the study also admits that wisdom remains largely true, but “we show it is also, in part, a genetic trait”.  If leaders were solely born, what is the point of the rest of us studying leadership...

...INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES TOWARDS KNOWLEDGE CREATION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING: FIRST EMPIRICAL RESULTS FROM KNOWLEDGE-INTENSIVE COMPANIES Author: Tatiana Andreeva Graduate School of Management, St.Petersburg State University, St.Petersburg, Russia Abstract: Both knowledge-creation and knowledge-sharing are viewed as very significant for competitiveness of an organization in modern knowledge economy. Contemporary literature usually treats these two processes as either independent or positively related. However, analyzing various organizational conditions for efficient course of these processes, we proposed that in some cases they may contradict each other. Thus on micro-level of analysis we hypothesized that there were two distinct non-overlapping groups of individuals – those more disposed towards knowledge creation, and those more disposed towards knowledge sharing. This hypothesis was examined with empirical data from employees of 5 knowledge-intensive companies.
