Brazil was colonized by the Portuguese and they discovered that Brazil is the land enriched with fertile soil (good to grow crops) and natural resources. Brazil was one of the center of triangular trade where the slaves from Africa were brought to work on plantations such as coffee, sugar and tobacco. African slaves were also brought to work when the gold mines were discovered.
