With crime there comes punishment and with punishment comes justice. All investigations should be led hand in hand with the pursuit of truth. Investigation must be closely regulated and administered so as to avoid variability and erroneousness. There are however cases in which the human makes mistakes. As members of the community with the ability to explore these potential mistakes, we can bring about proper consequence. Serial is an example of ethical reporting based on a key theory of consequence reporting: justice. The entire podcast is centered around seeking the truth of what exactly happened on January 13, 1999. She then acquires recordings of police interviews with suspects and witnesses. Upon reviewing these tapes and aligning the facts, she discovered just how weak the case against Adnan was. Ms. Koenig’s podcast is the perfect example of ethical consequence based reporting as it strives to cross-examine the claim against a potentially innocent human being. Social justice is based entirely on what is right and on what is fair. If this podcast in fact proves that the ruling against Adnan was false and that he is innocent then it will have achieved its remarkable feat. A young man in his 30s has spent half of his life in prison and may not have deserved this punishment. What could be a more clear example of social justice? If he is found not guilty then he will be freed from prison and could reenter into his community. If there is any kind of injustice circulating this case it deserves to be worked out for the sake of fairness. However, one ethical issue that has surfaced with the increase in popularity and coverage of this podcast is that, those who lost a dear family member or friend of theirs are being requestioned about something that happened 15 years
