...| A Drink of Water | Christopher J. Barrett | | SCI-275 | 3/24/2013 | | Sanitation and drinking-water are universally accepted as being essential for human life, dignity and human development (World Health Organization, 2012). Water is required for life to exist; it is the most basic of sustaining building blocks. Global access to clean (sanitary) and sustainable water supplies continues to be a challenge in an age of ever-increasing population and development. Despite the ongoing challenge, the scarcity of global water resources has only begun to be addressed by the United Nations and other not-for-profit charitable organizations. One of the most important recent milestones has been the recognition in July 2010 by the United Nations General Assembly of the human right to water and sanitation. The Assembly recognized the right of every human being to have access to sufficient water for personal and domestic uses (between 50 and 100 liters of water per person per day), which must be safe, acceptable and affordable (water costs should not exceed 3 per cent of household income), and physically accessible (the water source has to be within 1,000 meters of the home and collection time should not exceed 30 minutes) (United Nations, 2013). UN system activities specially focus on the sustainable development of fragile and finite freshwater resources, which are under increasing stress from population growth, pollution and the demands of...

Waltrip. After years of rapid growth and global expansion, SCI now faces the potential of slow growth and capital structure risk. The company also falls in a dilemma to maintain its 20% growth in EPS and to limit the use of debt. In the article, we will analyze how SCI achieved the high growth rate and how sustainable is it. In addition, we will analyze the stock price of SCI and give an investment suggestion. Death Care Industry The death care industry in United States is a mature and low growth one whose performance heavily depends on the death number per year. We use the Five Force Analysis to measure the performance of the industry. Entry Barrier (Green) The entry barrier to the death care industry is high. Since the keys to succeed in the industry are personal relationships and reputation, which need quite a long period to build. These result in a low entry and failure rates for funeral homes. ...Sci241 Final In: Science Sci241 Final SCI/241 FINAL Project Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan January 13, 2012 Ruby Warner In my family we have a lot of major health problems. The one health problem that most of my family members suffer from is High Blood Pressure. “Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Many factors affect blood pressure, causing it to change from day to day and throughout the day. We are unable to control some of the factors that increase the risk of developing high blood pressure like being African American, over the age of 35, family history of high blood pressure, or having diabetes, gout or kidney disease, but the good news is that there are some that we can change”!(mckinley.illinois.edu/handouts/blood_pressure_factors.html). In order to maintain a good blood pressure I should have an exercise plan that involves my cardiovascular, I need to exercise at least 2.5 hours a week. These exercises include cycling, walking, and swimming. Also I may want to talk with my doctor to make sure my body is healthy before I start my exercise program. Nutrition is very important in helping to control my blood pressure and helping with not getting this because I have a family history. The way I need to do this is eating well balanced meals. Here is a way to do this. “The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) eating plan is recommended if your blood pressure is high...

...Final Examination Paper SCI/256 Timothy Woodland 22 November 2015 The climate of Georgia is typical of a humid subtropical climate with most of the state having mild winters and hot summers. The Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Georgia and the hill country in the north impact the state's climate. Also, the Chattahoochee River divides Georgia into separate climatic regions with the mountain region to the northwest being colder than the rest of the state, the average temperatures for that region in January and July being 39 °F and 78 °F respectively. Winter in Georgia is characterized by mild temperatures and little snowfall around the state, with colder, snowier, and icier weather more likely across northern and central Georgia. Summer daytime temperatures in Georgia often exceed 90 °. The state experiences widespread precipitation. Tornadoes and tropical cyclones are common. Since moving to Georgia in 2007, there were a few issues that concerned me. The swamps that were in our training areas were full of life and yet we continued to build on them moving the wild life out. Then there was the issue that every year during Spring Break, thousands of college students would make their way to Tybee Island so that they may party for two weeks on the beach. Each year for those two weeks, the beaches were littered with trash and crews would have to clean up after them. Trash would be taken out into the ocean by the...

...My Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Dietrich Collins University of Phoenix Dr. Nicole Nearor July 14, 2013 My Health/Nutrition Target My nutritional health has been a very important part of my life since 2001 when I discovered I have Crohn’s disease. The food I consume affects my life in serious and immediate ways. Throughout this course I have learned various ways to help improve my dieting and better my overall health with different foods, ways of cooking foods, and supplements to help provide nutrients my body needs. Having Crohn’s disease can often make eating fruits and vegetable very painful. Although I have a chronic illness, I plan to find a pain free way to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and exercise to provide my body with the total nutrients it needs. Changes/No Changes From My Original Healthy Eating Plan My previous eating habits consist of a lot of pasta, meats, and bread because they do well with my digestive system. I have currently added more dairy and leafy vegetables to supplement my areas of deficiency. After completing the Food Tracker a second time I was still very deficient in my amount of fruit intake. Even with my adjustments I am still under my recommended calorie intake. In fact my total average calorie intake went down from 2906 to 2738 for a three day period. My results were still over the limit in saturated fat, and under the limit in magnesium, potassium, and several vitamins. These results are the essential...

...Personalized Nutrition 1 Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Personalized Nutrition 2 Introduction Obesity has been a health problem in my family for generations. My great grandparents died before I ever had a chance to personally meet them but the pictures I have seen indicate that they both were obese. According to the WebMD body mass index for adults, my mother, her two brothers (my uncles), and her sister (my aunt), are all extremely overweight and considered obese in regards to their age, height and weight. My father left my mother when I was very young so I am unaware of any health or nutrition problems that concern me in regards to my father’s family history. My grandmother died of Coronary heart disease, which is an obesity related medical condition that develops when a combination of fatty material, calcium, and plaque builds up in the arteries that supply the heart with blood. My mother and my aunt both have constant lower back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. They both have had wrist and back surgery in order to relieve the pain/ fix the problem, but the doctor told them that their weight was the main issue. My uncles complain that their knees and back bother them all the time, and even though I am not a doctor, I know it is because they both weigh around 300 pounds. ...I used to play soccer for a club, just for recreational purposes,in fact i was one of the cofounders of the team. The team we assembled was a mixture of young and old, and for this reason we were the laughing stock of the league, because all other teams were made up solely of young players, who were exceptionally talented. The team ended up on the wrong side of the score for the first few games we played, and got nicknamed the “whopping boys”. Eventually we grew tired of the nickname and of our performances on the field, and we decided to try and improve things, first thing we did was to elect a leader for the club. Even though i didnʼt want the job, i was voted into the position, and as the president it was my duty to represent my team when the league called for club meetings. At the time we were all students, so it was decided that we would all contribute towards any and all expenses, but unfortunately when you dealing with a blend of young and old, things donʼt always go according to plan, people constantly made up excuses for not showing up for practice, or for not contributing towards our equipment. Even though it wasnʼt my duty, i took it upon myself to ensure that every single player showed up for practice, i used to drive up to the houses of all those who didnʼt have any transportation. It was a tiring job, but i realized that if i wanted the team to be successful, i had to make certain sacrifices, some of which included taking money out of my own pocket...

Two Students Accounting Case

...the students are Bill and John. Bill believes that the completed -contract method is most like recognizing revenue at point of delivery because in the end the final product is delivered and has fulfilled any requirements to recognize revenue. John believes that percentage-of-completion is most like point of delivery and this allows a company to recognize revenue over time. I support Bill’s opinion that the completed-contract method is closest to recognizing revenue at point of delivery. The reason I support this is because while there is still construction taking place, as in the percentage-of-completion method, there still is no actual product being delivered. Along with no product being delivered, it is possible that the final product may never actually be made. If there’s a chance the end product not being made then there is no way to recognize revenue for that product. Using the completed contract method we hold off on recognizing any revenue until the final product is finished and delivered to the client. In my opinion completed contract fulfills the requirements of revenue recognition which are (1) the amount has to be realized / realizable and (2) the revenue must be earned. In completed contract at point of delivery the item can be considered earned now that it is completed and ownership has passed to the final customer. Percentage-of-completion does help serve large contracts that take years to complete so that a company can recognize some revenue every year. The problem...
