SEO Definition- “designing a site and its content whereby search engines find the site without being paid to do so.”
SEO Main Points * Increase the chances of being seen by search engine users that will make a purchase * Main goal: Increase ranking, to bring site closer to the top of SERP (to be at least within the top 4 or 5 search results, to increase the chances that users will find site * Search engines index the web through the use of spiders, who crawl through the links and data that it is able to see. Crawling through content such as: keywords, html tags, text, and links. This data is then analyzed and ranked through an algorithm * Important to SEO program is to determine Target Market and what Search Terms will attract that target market, then incorporating search terms into design. (tools may be used for this: Google Trends and Adwords to determine level of search activity on words and phrases) * Log in feature can track users who log in and what their search terms are for behavioral targeting
HTML Coding - HyperText Markup Language * Title tag, Meta tags, and alt tags help the search engine crawl and categorize a website. * Title tag- The text on the top blue bar when a user is on a website, is the first thing that a search engine will rank, may also be used as the link for a website’s listing on many search engines. Guidelines we learned in class: placing keywords before the brand name and keeping title tags within 40-60 characters * Meta tags- Meta tag descriptions and keywords have decreased in level of importance to search engines; they still aid in the way the site is displayed on the search engine results. Meta tags are within the HTML header. The description is one of the meta tags and is a few sentences long: “”The keyword meta tag, gives the different keywords that the site aims to get ranked on. ...social media is the next big trend in the marketing world and several studies have shown that these media or channels are often more effective than the traditional ones. Since the turn of the century, social media has steadily emerged ahead of the mass media as the most used media. Both print circulation and TV viewership have been falling consistently over the years; for instance, TV viewership has gone down almost 50% since 2002. In contrast, social media has reported massive gains since the early days of MySpace, with social media usage among U.S. adults increasing by 800% over the past eight years (Edwards, 2013). For marketers, this is a huge advantage because the rapid transition from mass to social media presents the opportunity to create impactful, relevant marketing messages. This data-powered personalized marketing approach is not only much more effective, but also more costefficient and scalable. Recently, social media has become a term synonymous with business marketing. Although still in its early stage, there is still so much to social media that businesses have yet to discover. Social Media is fast evolving as one of the most reliable ways to connect and stay informed about the most recent developments in a particular industry. It offers a platform for discussions and information sharing about anything and everything, helping users build their online identity and reputation and so much more. This study...

...April 21, 2015 Professor Mya Poe Advanced Writing Professor Northeastern University Boston, MA 02115 Dear Professor Poe, This semester has been a great learning opportunity for me and my writing skills. Before this class I was already comfortable with some of the learning goals presented on the syllabus, however, a few of them were strengthened with the projects we worked on. For example, before this class I would never peer review or revise my own papers. With the amount of revisions that were undertaken in all four projects, I feel that I have become more comfortable in the act of revision. Also, I was never good at incorporating forms of evidence to support my claims, ideas and arguments. This class was very helpful in showing how to take research and incorporate it into a project. Overall, this class has allowed me to strengthen my skills as a reviser, helped me “formulate and articulate a stance through my writing”, and helped me to use more forms of evidence to support my claims, ideas and arguments. Project 1 was the simplest of the four projects. I decided to analyze a research article on Marketing and how companies have started to move their businesses into developing nations. At first I didn’t think I would be able to write a rhetorical analysis on this article because of its length but after multiple revisions and help from peers I wrote my final draft. This was the one project where the revisions really helped me grow as a writer. Without these revisions...

The Centre’s goal is twofold: to promote world-class research, and to get the policy-relevant results into the hands of key decision-makers. CEPR’s guiding principle is ‘Research excellence with policy relevance’. A registered charity since it was founded in 1983, CEPR is independent of all public and private interest groups. It takes no institutional stand on economic policy matters and its core funding comes from its Institutional Members and sales of publications.
