The Seven Habits Profile exercise brought light to my goals and beliefs and how they align with my environment. I analyzed my understanding, obligations, and integrity towards others, accounted for the factors of stability in my life, assessed the default mechanisms I use to reach personal and professional goals, and examined my subjective views on social wellness and physical potency. I found leading with consideration towards diverse beliefs, skill sets, and practices is a priority of mines. It is also important for me to listen, process, and levy significance to the viewpoints of others (Vien, 2016), while directing attention to achieving the task at hand (Martin et al., 2013). I find organization critical to tackling responsibilities timely and seamlessly, and often attempt to surpass target deadlines imposed by management and supervisors with my own personal goals. I realize however, although I ultimately meet managerial deadlines, I struggle to maintain …show more content…
Accessing the results of the Seven Habits Profile, I find that I hold others accountable as I do myself and I should put some focus setting attainable goals within the workplace.
3 Leadership Strengths and Weaknesses
I will apply the Authentic Leadership theory to examine my three strengths and three weakness, and propose three modifications I can apply to boost my possibilities to successfully oversee organizations and direct persons in the future.
3.1 Strength No. 1
I attribute some of my success to being self-aware. Self-awareness allows me to consider opportunities for enhanced personal growth. After a few weeks as a part-time front desk attendant at an employee benefits insurance brokerage firm, I asked to take on a few additional tasks at the agency. Upon first viewing the results of the seven habits profile, the lowest scores caught my attention first. I saw that section 5, putting things first, was the lowest score at 10 points. I agree with the the seven habits profile, this is my biggest weakness when evaluated on the seven habits criteria. I can admit that sometimes I get lost in my work and forget about the things that really matter and the bigger picture. Leadership Analysis

...I used the Seven Habits Profile for my personal leadership analysis. The Seven Habits Profile helped me to identify the strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement of my leadership qualities. The completed Seven Habits Profile shows that I scored very well on Emotional Bank Account which is one of the foundational habits. Interestingly I got the lowest score on Life Balance which is also one of the foundational habits. I scored well on the Be Proactive, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw and Think Win-Win categories. I scored lowest on Life Balance and Put First Things First. I am a workaholic who often forgets about the importance of family time and works long hours on weekdays and holidays. This has caused a lot of issues in my personal life and infused some negativity into my career. When I analyzed my Seven Habits profile I noticed that I scored less on Put First Things First as well. From my point of view both of these are related to my style of doing work. If I prioritize the tasks and work consistently with those priorities, there should have been a remarkable positive effect on my life. Instead, I often surf the web and chitchat with my colleagues during office hours wasting valuable time and causing me to spend extra time completing the tasks. For achieving life balance, I should prioritize the tasks and manage my time efficiently. My highest scores were on being proactive and think win-win. I feel that I am in control of my life and won’t allow it to be shaped by other...

Simply put, transactional leaders work within the culture that exists and exert energy on the things within their power to control (Biscontini, 2015). My scores in each of the seven habits can directly relate to characteristics of a transactional leader. First, Category 3 of the profile, is a clear example. I have a high internal locus of control and know I have the ability to change my environment when necessary to achieve my own desired outcomes. Transactional leaders are very results-driven (Bass, 1990). In order to achieve such outcomes, I begin with the end in mind by not putting off tasks, adhering to a schedule, and also by setting up my next week on the Friday before. In relation to work tasks, I find that I am disciplined and do not let the truly important things get lost in the shuffle. However, in relation to my personal life, I struggle with balancing the importance of living a long and healthy life with the importance of living an enjoyable and...

Swot Analysis

...SWOT Personal SWOT Analysis Christine A. Hawkins Western Governors University Reflection on Seven Habits Profile The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is based on principles that provide insight in to one’s own personal and professional challenges. The 7 Habits profile is a self-assessment tool to gauge ones dependence to independence and provide opportunity for movement towards interdependence. I was intrigued when I saw the result of my personal Seven Habits profile to see the following strengths, which are listed as Covey’s first tier towards independence among highly effective people. * Proactive – I often see the end in mind when situations arise and take initiative to identify methods for resolution or implement initiatives to the situation. If one approach does not work, a different approach will be utilized. My personal belief is that I set my own path and am responsible for the success or non-success of that path. When challenges or problem arise both personally and professionally, I have found that being reactive does not resolve the challenge. When these situations arise, I proactively identify what I can do better. * Begin with the end in mind – I am very strong at beginning with the end in mind in almost all situations. I will visually identify the path from beginning to end and recognize consequences or obstacles that may arise along the way. Having this strength has enabled me to prepare and be proactive when handling challenging circumstances...

...Kirin USA, Inc.: Ichiban Shibori BADM 7100 – Marketing Dr. Jianan Wu April 8, 2011 Kirin Brewery Limited founded over 100 years ago in Yokohama, Japan is the largest beer in Japan today. It is also the fourth largest beer firm in the world; however, almost half of its’ market share in 1990 was in Japan. Competitor Asahi entered the market with a super dry beer in 1987 unsettling the field. This new concept of a sharper, less sweet beer with a higher alcohol content appealed to heavy beer drinkers and was very successful in the Japanese market. Asahi overcame Sapporo rising to the title of number three brewer in Japan. Kirin’s answer to Asahi’s super dry beer was a new full bodied beer with no aftertaste called Ichiban Shibori. Sales response was very impressive and fueled Kirin’s interest in the U.S. market. First, the U.S. had a high proportion of import beers in their market, and second, Kirin was in second place behind Sapporo in the U.S. market. U.S. operations began in 1983, and Kirin USA, Inc. was born. At that time only 3% of the 184 million barrels of beer consumed in the U.S. was imported. In 1987, a 2% increase in imports coincided with a 3 million barrel consumption increase. This prompted agreements with Molson USA and Martlet to diversify their marketing campaign. Print media and radio spots were targeted in Los Angeles and New York City where the majority of Kirin’s U.S. customer base lived. Before and after recall tests confirmed what...

Study Habits Research in Rmtu

...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction Learning can be immensely gratifying, but studying usually involves hard work. The primary step towards effective study habits is to face up to this reality. One need not feel guilty if one doesn’t look forward to studying. Once an individual accepts the premise that studying doesn’t come naturally, it should be apparent that one needs to set up an organized program to promote adequate study. Learning how to study is really a long-term process. As one goes on studying, one finds more techniques and methods that offer new information leading one on an interesting and successful direction. So, learning how to study or to develop good study habits is a lifelong process, and one should be ready to modify one’s method of study according to the need of the time. The development of good study habits is the highway to the goals of an individual, whatever they are. A simple, small change in study habits makes a big difference in goal setting and organization of one’s life. The success of an individual depends upon his study habits. Education is the manifestation of perfection already existing in man. The tool enabling this manifestation is study habits. In order to improve the quality of education we must develop certain innovative strategies, which will enhance the educational standards. In addition to that from the student’s side there must be some important steps, which form the basis for their academic achievement. Students’ needs...

Comprehensive Self Assessment of Leadership

...A Comprehensive Self Analysis of Leadership Style Stephen R. Covey once said “We immediately become more effective when we decide to change ourselves rather than asking things to change for us.” A manager should assess themselves regularly, just as they do with their employees. My name is Jane Doe, and I currently manage a team of highly intelligent computer programmers at a rural telecommunications company. I assess myself and my team in the interest of providing the best service to my company and team. One assessment I used recently was the “Seven Habit’s Profile.” This profile measures the following areas: Emotional Bank Account, Life Balance, Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw. The scoring landed me squarely in the “very good” range, but a couple areas that stood out to me were Seek First to Understand and Think Win-Win. These are areas that are indicative of my leadership style. The style I most closely represent is Transformational Leadership. The ability to understand others, supports the transformational leadership style by making a leader aware of others’ needs, something which is needed when inspiring change. “Thinking win-win”, also supports this style by finding areas where both parties benefit; making change easier and more productive. Taking the Seven Habits Profile highlighted some of my strengths and weaknesses in relation to the Transformational Leadership...

Financial Stability and Health in Determining Relationship Commitment

...Financial Stability and Health in Determining Relationship Commitment Ariel Luna Western Washington University Abstract This study is interesting in determining which characteristics in a male potential partner a female values more when looking at financial stability and health when considering that partner as a contender in a committed romantic relationship. With a sample of 56 single heterosexual females and 4 single bisexual females all with a mean age of 20, a 2x2 factorial design study was conducted on relationship commitment with financial stability and health in mind. The study found that females looked at health more in the consideration of a male as a life-long partner and that financial stability was not a factor when considering a committed romantic relationship. Financial Stability and Health in Determining Relationship Commitment The years of Late Adolescence, what Arnett (2000) terms Emerging Adulthood, can be characterized as people between the ages of 18-24 who are past high school, possibly in college, but not quite into adulthood. This time in a person’s life is typically when young adults start looking towards their future and everything that may be involved in it. This may include future careers, traveling endeavors, or selecting future mates. For those who may be currently thinking about who their future mate is going to be and for those who are assessing what characteristics they would like their...
