On the 21 of May 2013 bob went to a restaurant and sat down and was waiting for the waiter to come serve him any hour went by and still no one had came up to him and asked him what would you like, about a hour and half later the manger comes up to bob and says `hey my name is David and I’m the store manager and I would like u to leave as u won’t be able to afford our food in this restraint’. So bob decide to leave without getting any food, bob felt really powerless with having any money.
The next day bob was sitting at the park and trying to get some money so he can eat, as he was looking around he sees David the manager from the restraint yesterday sitting at the tree reading the newspaper and drinking his coffee and then bob thought to himself that he wishes he had a life like that being able to have a job and having money that he could buy food and a nice place to live instead of a cardboard box.
Now bob is trying to be successful and get a job but he doesn’t know how to get one, he has started talking to people about giving him a job but they just rejected him because he has no nice cloths and he is very dirty. He has started to try really hard to find some nice clothes so he can find himself a job, so he can get some money and do something with his life.
Couple of weeks after bob counted his money that he had got off people to get some new cloths but he only had $10 and that wasn’t enough to get him cloths so he spent that money on food and started thinking of a new way to get enough money to buy cloths. He had started to think of a way to do a robber on one on the shops and get some money from there to get his stuff that he needs to get a job.

On the 25th of may bob had decide to rob the corner shop so he could get the money, he had a knife that he had found earlier on he was going to use that to hold up the casher while he got the money from him. It was time for bob to go and rob the shop it was 12.00 pm midnight no one was around and all the streets was really quiet and bob was walking up to the shop he had wrapped his face with a shirts so no one would know who it is, bob is in front of the shop about to go in take 3 deep breaths and walks in no one else is in the shop expect bob and the casher, bob walks straight up to the casher and pulls the knife out and starts screaming ``PUT ALL THE MONEY IN THE CASH REGSTER IN THE BAG NOW!!!’ the casher follows his order as bob has the knife to the cashers throat .
Bobs robbery was successful he got $1000 which was enough to buy himself new clothes, he went to the shops and got himself a new suit and cleaned up then went to get a job he went to couple of place and he got a job at MacDonald he was happy at least he had a job and was get money and now he felt like he is doing something with his life as he is not on the streets got himself a apartment to live in.
Bob became successful and never got caught for the robbery he done, he is leaving happily now like he had wish to, he has friends and feels like he has power now .

Classical Argument: Earthquakes

...Adrian Howley Classical Argument Reporting earthquakes are very critical to studying the behavior of tectonic plates. The very first recorded earthquake occurred in the year 1831 B.C. and is currently known today as the 526 Antioch Earthquake. The area affected was Antioch, China (located between the Syria and Turkey regions). Not much is known about how the report was formed. However, this historic report did include information about how the aftershocks lasted for twelve months. Other details from this report indicate that the death toll is around 250,000 to 300,000 casualties. Scientists today can only prove that the earthquake occurred between May 20 and May 29 (date translated from B.C. to Calendar Year). The first instrument to measure the seismic waves of earthquakes was invented by Charles F. Richter at the California Institute of Technology. (Bellis, 2013) He introduced his new instrument called the Richter scale, to the world of science. His invention allows scientists today to study the mechanics behind earthquakes and locate the epicenter to which the natural disaster originated. The largest earthquake recorded by the Richter scale was measured on May 22, 1960 at a magnitude of 9.5. The quake resulted in 1,886 deaths, 2,000,000 homeless, and $1,175,000,000 total in damages. (“The Largest Earthquake”, [PDF file]) If we want to see these large numbers slide down to zero, the impossible will need to be challenged by science. Skyscrapers are buildings consisting...

Throughout history, progression and advancement in technology has fundamentally separated us from our evolutionary antecedents, enabling a life of greater comfort, extravagance and an increased ability to procreate and sustain ourselves. This improvement is especially apparent in the world of architecture and civil engineering, where there has been an unremitting ambition to surpass the existing boundaries, particularly with regards to height. The most renowned early example of a structure where height was key are the Pyramids of Giza where elevation was crucial in order to radiate power and divine authority. The tallest pyramid, standing at 146.5m, was built more than 4500 years ago, and remained the tallest manmade structure for the next 3800 years, until the 1300s when Lincoln Cathedral was built topping it by only 13.5m [1][2]...

What Are the Key Aspects in the Construction and Design of the Burj Dubai Tower?

...structure. The Burj Dubai, situated in Dubai, will soon be the tallest building in the world, bypassing the previous record holder, the Taipei 101 by almost 290 metres giving it an astonishing 800 metre height. With over 2700 feet, designing and constructing such a vast building has given significant challenges to engineers and designers alike. Since the building can hold up to 35,000 people at once, it is essential that it is strong, comfortable and able to move people up and down it at a steady rate. This essay will explore how the designers and engineers went about solving these issues. One of the key problems the engineers had to overcome was effect of the wind load and how it would affect the building motions due to the extraordinary height of the tower. Wind load is something that must be taken into account for all buildings, but obviously the wind velocity increases the higher you go and since the structure is over 800 metres tall, there is guaranteed to be a large wind force acting on the building. Three different engineering firms: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill who were all working on the project, hired the RWDI (Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc.) a wind and environmental engineering firm to conduct wind studies on the Burj Dubai’s design. The RWDI had worked on a number of previous projects such as the Petronas Towers and the Taipei 101 and its facilities included four boundary wind tunnels. Their job was to minimize the effects of the wind load and building motion of the...

My Journal Entry 1

...Entry 1 (24th September 2012) It's exactly 12:01 am now, and seeing that this is my first entry, I should update a little of myself. I'm currently at Taiwan for a short vacation with my high school friends of about 10years. And they are Lee Sue Ee, Soh Pei Ling, and Chong Yee Wun. We arrived here on Saturday, 22nd September 2012, and so far it has been an hectic journey seeing that we are here on our own for the first time and we did not go through any travel agency. Enough of updating, I just finish my STA assessment and e-mailed it to my group mates to submit later in the morning. I just hope that I did good enough despite my heavy schedule and with little initiative. Oh yes, I am now in my room while the girls are sleeping and the view is just amazingly breath-taking. How fortunate i am that I could do my assignment while looking at this sea view. The sound of the rushing waves eases my mind to relaxation and light music as my background to suit my emotion. The only thing that lack, is a partner to share this spectacular moment. Anyway, I should sleep now. Gotta be up early later for another tour around the north-east Taiwan before heading to the capital city Taipei later in the evening. I will update my entry again later whilst exploring every possibility here. Good Night ! Good afternoon, it was quite a day after waking up restlessly. Breakfast here was amazing, I mean, what more can we ask with such nature phenomenal as our spectacular view. After finishing our...

Seven Wonders of 21st Century Architecture

...Seven Wonders of 21st Century Architecture You may not be able to name them all, but most people have at least heard of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Here’s a list with links: Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria . Of the seven, only the Pyramid remains, the rest we know of only through historic documents.[1] There have been other “7 Wonders” lists and in 2007, the Swiss government sponsored a project to create a new list, with selections made by popular vote. Over 100 million votes were cast, and the new 7 Wonders were announced as follows: Chichen Itza (the Yucatan, Mexico pyramid), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil’s enormous statue of Jesus), Colosseum (Rome’s arena of Gladiators),Great Wall of China (you can see it from space!),Machu Picchu (ancient city built on an unbelievably high mountain top in Peru),Petra (Jordan’s city cut directly into the side of a stone mountain ),and the Taj Mahal (India’s majestic temple/mausoleum).[2] But my final Cyber Journey of the semester started not as a stroll through history, but as a trip into the future of arts and Architecture with a look at another “7 Wonders” list – The 7 New Wonders of the 21st Century [3], as selected by Architecture, an online review published by the website Quazen. With no further ado, here are the 7: * Millau Viaduct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millau_Viaduct ...

Dating and Sex Among College Students

...Sociology 101 Assignment 1 Dating and Sex among College Students Dating and Sex should be seen as an intertwined idea in society, but in today’s world and in the college world specifically these two ideas have different meanings and are practiced at different times. In order to prove my point I will have to conduct an experiment in which I discover two variables, alcohol and co-ed dorms, and through these variables I hope to achieve a conclusion that sex and dating are two different concepts when it comes to college students. In the beginning of my experiment I would first select a group of individuals to study, who would be male and female college students ranging from the ages of freshman to sophomore. With this I would introduce my first variable, that seems to have a big effect on college students, and that would be the use of alcohol. When people become intoxicated there decision-making becomes impaired and they might wake up in the morning with regrets. Most people are warned about rape and need to be around people to look after them when they are drunk. This usually doesn’t happen with people who have a partner and are dating. In order to discover if this idea correlates with the topic I would conduct a survey of college students both male and female, freshman to seniors, and see what their experiences tell us. To conduct a survey, I would have people answer the questions of: Have you ever had sex with someone random while sober? Have you ever had sex with a random...

American Dream

...Breonna Imus 11-09-2015 EN 101 F Thesis: In America the land of the free and home of the “American Dream”, were everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed in life, males are treated with more equality than women. In 2012 only four percent of CEO’s for the fortune 1000 companies were women. That means out of one thousand people only fifty-one of them were female and nine hundred and forty-nine of them were male. From a sociological stand point it is believed that this occurs because of the glass ceiling theory. The glass ceiling is the unseen, yet unbreakable barrier that keeps women from rising to the upper rings of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements, because those jobs are thought of as male oriented. However if you look at the opposite effect in the glass escalator and look at males taking jobs in predominantly female oriented positions rise higher and faster in their profession than their female counter parts in male dominated carriers.(Bellenger) What about qualifications however? Is it not possible that those men have more skill and education for those carriers? Actually no. Women have been found to go to college more than men do. (Forbes) In America the pay gap between men and women is atrocious as women make only seventy-seven cents to the dollar. “In 2012, the median earnings of American women working full time year-round were $37,791. American men earned a median income of $49,398.”(Bassett) In predominantly female work trades...

Media Research

...Role Research Paper October 13, 2014 Rosamar Mallari Professor: Deanna Shelby SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology Moraine Valley Community College – Blue Island Learning Center Media Role Research Paper The inequality between men and women is not limited to past civilizations or to certain cultures; however, is constantly present in modern society. Moreover, the biological components with which individuals are born will not only work as their master status within society, but it will also dictated the socially acceptable behavior for the individuals within that civilization (Helsin, 2009, p. 294). Additionally, in modern society the media can also reinforce the gender stratification barrier or break it. Therefore, to have a better understanding of the media effect in gender stratification an episode of the television sitcom “Last Man Standing” will be analyze in the following paragraphs. Episode Background “Last Man Standing” is a comedy show in which the father of three girls offers his perspective regarding day-to-day situations that families are dealing with, in today’s society. In the episode “Here’s the Kicker” the family has to deal with the decision of the youngest female member of joining the men varsity football team (Shipley & Pasquin, 2014). Gender Stratification in Today’s Media According to Helsin (2009), “It is not the work that provides prestige, but the sex with which the work is associated” (p. 303); therefore, as Linton and Rosaldo noted (as...
