Statistics
Breakfast is the most frequently skipped meal throughout the day (Dieticians of Canada). In the developed world, “between 20–30% of children and adolescents skip breakfast” everyday (Deshmukh-Taskar, 2010). In Canada, specifically, about “44 % of teens in 2008 skipped breakfast at least once a week“ (Diane McCann-Hiltz, 2009). One of the reasons skipping breakfast is common in Canada is because “12% of youth come from food insecure househoulds” (Alberta Health Services). Nearly “85% of the meals prepared for breakfast are prepared in 5 minutes of less” (Diane McCann-Hiltz, 2009). Many factors including economic, financial, and limited time are linked to youth skipping breakfast or not having the correct foods for breakfast (Fertig, 2003).

Especially, foods that are protein, fiber, carbohydrate, and calcium rich should be included in a breakfast meal. Fibre helps prevent constipation by adding bulk and absorbing water, thus softening the stool. High fibre diets may also help prevent and treat a variety of diseases and conditions, such as heart disease, colon cancer and diabetes. Typically, youth require between 21-30 grams of fibre each day (Dieticians of Canada, 2014). One must exercise to burn off the calories from food as well. Good exercise contributes to healthy eating and will help maintain normal bowel movements. By eating regular meals, says Chen, ‘ “stimulates metabolism” and signals the body to start using fuel, instead of hoarding fuel” (Canadian Living, 2014). To prevent from snacking on junk food later on in the day and risking the probability of being overweight, 2-3 oz of protein during breakfast time will induce weight loss, along with increase satiety and fullness (Canadian Living, 2014). We summarized diet quality using the Diet Quality Index International, and used multilevel regression methods to evaluate potential child, parental and school risk factors for poor diet quality. Results: In Nova Scotia, 42.3% of children did not meet recommendations for milk products nor did they meet recommendations for the food groups ‘Vegetables and fruit’ (49.9%), ‘Grain products’ (54.4%) and ‘Meat and alternatives’ (73.7%). Children adequately met nutrient requirements with the exception of calcium and fibre, of which intakes were low, and dietary fat and sodium, of which intakes were high. Skipping meals and purchasing meals at school or fast-food restaurants were statistically significant determinants of poor diet. Parents’ assessment of their own eating habits was positively associated with the quality of their children’s diets. Interpretation: Dietary intake among children in Nova Scotia is relatively poor. Social Analysis of Children Obesity

...Social Analysis Report Children Obesity Mengtong Huang Holly Lachapelle Jung Ohyeon Professor Fidaa Shehada Global Citizenship (GNED500204) Due date: December 3, 2015 Introduction of children abesity and connected with GNED 500(by Holly Lachapelle) The topic of our social analysis is child obesity. As far as we know, childhood obesity is becoming a growing epidemic in the modern world. According to Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, “The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to nearly 21% over the same period.” (Ogden,2012) These numbers are concerning because childhood obesity leads to long term health risks including diabetes, heart disease and many cancers. As our society becomes increasingly technologically driven, our youth are becoming less and less physically active. Today’s children are more likely to send a friend a text rather than run over to their house and “call on them”. Modern conveniences and entertainment such as videogames, television, the internet, facebook and kid-friendly fast food joints play a major role in the growing rate of childhood obesity. Currently there are many efforts being made to slow down or reverse the negative effects of living in modern day society for our children. Some of these attempts include increased awareness about nutrition and...

...61 Easy Ways To Lose Weight A few years ago, one of my friends at Men's Health stepped on the scale and was horrified by the result. He'd somehow managed to pack 20 pounds of flab onto his previously skinny frame. When he looked into the mirror, he saw a fat guy staring back. He decided to make a change, quick.

That day, he gave up his beloved soda. He was only drinking two or three bottles a day, but over the course of six months, he dropped those 20 pounds. It was a small change to his lifestyle -- no big deal, really. And yet, it had a massive impact on his health and his body. (No surprise: Drinking calories is one of the 20 Habits That Make You Fat.)

My point: Making small decisions each day can result in big-time fat loss.

Below are dozens of simple ways to lose weight. Start with one -- today! -- and watch the weight begin to melt away. Trust me, this is going to be easier than you think.

 1. Have a clear goal. It should be one that anyone in the world can measure and understand. 2. Drink tea. Research suggests that those who drink tea -- black, green, or white, as long as it’s from real tea versus herbal tea -- have lower BMIs and less body fat than those who don’t consume tea. 3. Eat cayenne pepper. A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition showed that when compared to placebo, capsaicin -- the active ingredient in cayenne -- increased fat burning. 4. Decrease/eliminate processed carbs. They do nothing for you outside of creating a favorable...

Comparsion Between Britannia & Parle

... INTRODUCTION [pic] Biscuit is a kind of crisp, dry bread product that, if leavened, is usually made with a chemical leavener. The exact meaning varies markedly in different parts of the world. The origin of the word "biscuit" is from Latin via Middle French and means "cooked twice," hence biscotti in Medieval Italian (similar to the German Zwieback, and still present in Dutch "beschuit"). In modern Italian usage the term biscotti is used to refer to any type of cookie or cracker. Some of the original biscuits were British naval hard tack; such hard tack was made in the United States through the 19th century. Throughout most of the world, the term biscuit still means a hard, crisp, brittle bread, except in the USA and Canada, where it now denotes a softer bread product baked only once. Biscuits derive its name from a French word meaning twice backed bread; Biscuits in general have a good shelf life, which is higher than all other snack items available in the market. A biscuit is a hard baked sweet or savory product like a small, flat cake, which in North America may be called a "cookie" or "cracker". The term biscuit also applies to sandwich-type biscuits, where a layer of 'cream' or icing is sandwiched between two biscuits. In the UK, "cookie" is usually only used in specific terms such as "chocolate chip cookie" or to refer to larger, softer American style cookies. Referring to the Sesame Street character the Cookie Monster, British author Chris Roberts...
