A dead man and a suspicious woman - was it an accident or a murder? After a fight with her husband Arthur, Queenie Volupides left her house to go to the club with her friends. She arrived home a few hours later to find Arthur lying dead at the bottom of the stairs. Queenie claims he was coming down for another drink when he slipped and fell. Looking at the crime scene, it is easy to tell that Mrs. Volupides was lying. The fact that she lied makes her even more guilty and gives us reason to further investigate. The position of Arthur’s body, the hors d’oeuvres cooking in the background, and the opportunity and motive she had make her the prime suspect in this investigation. It was confirmed that Queenie and Arthur had been fighting right before Queenie left for the club alone. Queenie then invited friends over even though the relationship between her and her husband was tense . She wanted people over as part of her plan in covering up the murder. This makes her look innocent because by inviting people over it makes the scene look even more like an accident. But why didn’t she call the police after witnessing Arthur die? She didn’t call the police because this would’ve scared her friends away and they wouldn’t have been able to corroborate her story. Queenie had ten minutes between the time she got back and the time people came over. This was plenty of time to kill Mr. Volupides, clean up around the house and cover up the murder. Arthur’s murder was planned while Queenie was at the club and in ten minutes, she would have time to commit the murder, cook the hors d’oeuvres and rid the pan of Arthur’s DNA, and place the glass in his hand. The faults in her plan are what lead us to the conclusion that she is responsible for his death. She had motive and opportunity, and the fact that she lied about the events makes anything she says
