Widget Wonders is a worldwide leader in widgets and are currently building a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture and distribute the next generation of widgets. This new facility will be the main manufacturing and distribution center in the United States and will contain the following five departments: sales, manufacturing, inventory control, research and development, and Management Information Systems (MIS). SNHUConsulting, a leader in information technology, has been retained to implement information technology on the expansion and to connect the network in the new facility to the main network that is located at their headquarters. I have been asked to make recommendations on the computer hardware components for the expansion.
Widget Wonders has provided SNHUConsulting with the pertinent information about each of the departments in order to implement the best hardware. The following is the information provided by Widget Wonders and the recommendations of SNHUConsulting.
The sales department consists of 50 employees which require mobility to access company resources while visiting customers and presenting at sales meetings and conferences. My recommendation for this department is notebooks, smartphones, and tablets as they would work best for mobility when visiting with customers as they are small and lightweight computers that can easily be carried around, along with docking stations to charge the devices. For those times when the sales team is presenting to larger groups I would recommend a digital projector that can be plugged into the notebook or tablet, portable speakers, and laser pointers.
