One of the few accounts of the past that one gets to read without any biased opinions, is when Jordan Baker retells the story of the night before Daisy Fay becomes Daisy Buchanan. Daisy becomes extremely intoxicated and starts crying whilst holding a crumpled up letter in her hand: “She wouldn’t let go of the letter. She took it into the tub with her and squeezed it up into a wet ball, and only let me leave it in the soap-dish when she saw that it was coming to pieces like snow” (76).
