Background of the Study Successful students come to class, keep up with the reading load, avoid procrastination, manage their time, treat deadlines seriously, and try to enjoy learning; in short successful students have good study habit. However, students face many changes as their learning become bolder and deeper, and by this students should be flexible in order to adjust easily their study habit. An example situation of this is, entering college after high school. High school is very different from college. Being in college needs more focus, consumes lots of your time and energy. Unlike, in high school, though it also needs effort but it is less stressful and of course its subjects are not as hard as your subjects in college. This is the reason why the effects of study habit to the academic performance are the focus of this study. The group also chose this study to know how effective the study habit of accountancy students, specifically the BHB students, S.Y. 2010-2011, in maintaining good grades. Why did the group choose BHB accoutancy students? One of the reasons is because of the high standard the grading system they have. In UE-Manila, accountancy students must maintain a grade stated in the policy, because the said students have a retention policy. Retention policy is a policy concerning to the grade of the students, particularly the accountancy students. They must not get a grade lower than the great in the retention policy given to their year level.
In the case of BHB accountancy students, since they are in the first year level they must maintian a grade of 2.5 in their major subject and Grade Weighted Average (GWA). Moreover, they have eight (8) subjects carrying 26 units. And six (6) units of this is their major subject and the remaining 18 units are for their minor subjects.
