Throughout the class, a few theories that stood out to me the most were the conflict theory, the structional functionalist theory, the feminist theory and Deviance. Although in my book Sexism in America there are many theories that are presented, however these four theories stood out the most to me and also were relevant to my life. According to our textbook, Our Social World, Conflict theorist believes that conflict is inevitable in any group or society. Inequality and injustice are the source of the conflicts that permeate society. Because resources and power are distributed unequally in society, some members have more money, goods and prestige than others. The rich protects their positions by using the power they have accumulated to keep those less fortunate in their places. Throughout the semester we referred to this theory as the “Haves and the have not.” Theory. This theory is prevalent in each and everyone one of our lives, each one of us has had to struggle at some point of our life and had some type of challenge to overcome in order for us to seat in the seat we having been seating in every Tuesday night of this semester, most of us are in this class, this school, because we are the have not and are trying to better our future by getting a degree in a field that we love and feel will increase our social net-worth and change our social group and even move from being lower class to middle class. This same conflict that we face now days in trying to feel equal to the people in our lives that are the haves or seem to control our life, is similar to the conflict that the women in my book had to face. My book is more like a history book so it is not the story of one group of women but it is the stories of many women of various groups, everything that will be written are from chapters, and passages I found to have been interesting and needed to be shared. The
