St. Philip Neri is an interesting person. Saint Philip Neri was born in Florence Italy on July 21, 1515. He journeyed into heaven on May 26, 1595. His feast day is on May 26 which is celebrated in the Church. He does have symbols which are a rosary, lily, and an angel holding a book. The rosary resembles his holiness side. The lily resembles his purity of being a Virgin Saint. The angel holding a book resembles his study of theology and philosophy. St. Philip Neri was canonized on March 12, 1622.

Saint Philip Neri formed a religious group with special members of the church in 1548. In the group, they helped hungry and homeless pilgrims. The pilgrims came to Rome without anything. Without the work of St. Philip, many pilgrims could have died. The spiritual director of the church was pleased with St. Philips work. In fact, he was so pleased with his work that he asked him to become a priest. He wasn’t sure about coming a priest until the spiritual director told him that he could do better deeds as a priest. The thing he loved about becoming a priest was hearing confessions. He inspired young men to grow spiritually while doing his work. Saint Philip and priest Buonsignore Cacciaguerra formed a new growing group for young men. Other priests weren’t happy about the group. The priests were so upset about the group that they attacked St. Philip and priest Buonsignore Cacciaguerra. St. Philip was told to stop his meetings by the Pope’s Vicar in 1555.
