I have always been a person with a plan. I would write down my goals and denote my achievements. Before starting the application for Post University, Master Human Services program, I intended to wait two years before grad school. During my undergrad years, many of my professors advised me against this decision because most people lose the motivation and drive to return to school In undergrad. This did not concern me because I always follow through with my plans. During these two years I would work hard to learn the system of serving in the field of human services. I had recently started to look for employment in the field and after reviewing several sites; however, I did not find much interest in my work, so I requested updates about jobs …show more content…
I have been working on formatting my organization for over a month in conjunction with professionals I have met through networking. The organization will be called “Don’t Pay The Pryce”, in memory of my aunt, Judith Pryce, who died about five years ago from AIDS. Growing up with a single parent in public housing, I have witnessed the price society pays when a child is left uneducated, a mother’s belly unfed, and a family without shelter. My aunt did not have a very supporting community and she paid the price of not know how to protect herself. With a lack of a support system, she struggled to cope with the disease alone. Don't Pay The Pryce will provide communities with the support in many ways. My service-focused and program coordinating skills, demonstrates commitment to serving disadvantaged communities. I was well known for my serves in the surrounding community of my undergrad school in Westminster, Maryland. Since moving back home to Brooklyn, New York, I am starting all over again. The demographic are very different compare to Maryland. I plan to gain maximum experience in programming, planning, and community engagement, efforts will result in providing opportunities for those in need. My organization first act is it to participate in the New York AIDS walk in May next year. Post University, Master Human Services with a concentration in nonprofit management is a blessing in disguise and the opportunity could not come at a better time in my professional career. This Master program will provide me with a strong framework and understanding of the field human services. It will also provide a strong based for my organization to grow

Construct and Support an Argument

...Construct and Support an Argument My decision to continue my education and pursue an MBA is to gain the required skills needed to start a new career in my near future. Pursuing an MBA will make it possible to live a better economic life and to have a good job with security and top pay. I have chosen this route even with the current economic situation, knowing that new jobs may not be available by the time I finish with my MBA. An MBA would benefit me greatly in a variety of ways. Pursuing an MBA will aid in the development of the skills I need in the finance and accounting areas. Of course the increase in pay from possessing an MBA does not hurt either. When researching jobs online I am finding that by having a master’s degree, the pay is substantially higher than those with a bachelor’s degree. Other than career and financial reasons, I do have a personal goal to achieve more than my siblings. Out of four sisters only two of us have a bachelor’s degree. I would love nothing more than to become the other sibling to obtain a masters degree. Plain and simple, I want to do better than all of my sisters. In this economy, having a good paying job with security is vital. “In nearly every sector of the globe, the prospect of making more money and living a better economic life draws thousands of students to MBA programs” (Euders.com, 2009). I plan hopefully to open my own business someday in the very near future. With running my own business the part of running a business...

...being famous, but to me being successful means achieving the goals I set for myself, whether that be being financially stable, earning my bachelors’ degree and pursuing my educational goals and finally being able to start a family of my own when I am financially and professionally stable. Life goals academic goals, one thing for sure is that only persistence and hard work will get you to where you want to be. Setting goals is a great way to reach your dreams as well as your educational success. Proper time management and a step by step process is a good place to start when trying to kick start your path to becoming a success. My primary educational goal is to actually finish college successfully and gain my Bachelor’s degree. One reason why this is an important goal for me is because I would be the first person in my family to have a college degree, let alone be the first to graduate, I have few other family members who attended college but have failed, which is one of the reasons why I decided to go to school after being out of high school for so long. Seeing that so many have failed before me I was afraid I would fail as well but it is of great importance for me to succeed not only just gaining my degree but also finding a job in my field of study. With successfully completing college I hope to inspire my sister and younger cousins to head towards the path of pursuing a higher education. I plan on pursuing a career in dentistry or pharmaceuticals. I enjoy helping others and making...

Using the Association of Information Technology Professionals

...Using the Association of Information Technology Professionals to support my education and beyond November 29, 2010 Using the Association of Information Technology Professionals to support my education and beyond Pursuing an education with the goal of achieving more rewarding employment opportunities can seem daunting, especially when the avenues after achieving the degree can be vast without a map to help guide someone along the industry waters. Professional organizations routinely establish chapters for certain fields that guide individuals to greater opportunities. In the information technology field, the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) operates to assist students or employed professionals who want to continue, enhance and expand their knowledge. For my part, I plan to join and use the AITP to facilitate and maintain my success in the information technology (IT) industry. The AITP emerged in 1996 as a direct evolution from the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA). The DPMA had operated since 1962 and had focused primarily on the continued education of information processing techniques with the increase of computers in professions worldwide. The DPMA also continually strove to recognize the contributions of professionals in the IT industry. In 1996, the DPMA changed their name to The Association of Information Technology Professionals to align with the adopted terminology that was emerging from the field but also to expand evolve...

Career Development Plan

...Career Development Plan

I’ve often heard people say, “if you don’t know where you’re going, how will you get there?” (McGuire, 2008). This statement rings exceedingly true in our growing workforce. As larger corporations grow, and opportunities are merged into fewer positions, establishing a plan and pursuing a specific career course is becoming increasingly important. By determining career goals and objectives, one is capable of assessing what current skills and abilities he possesses that will be useful in attaining that position, and what training and education may be required before advancement is possible. My five-year career development plan, however, is different from the path of an employee in a corporate environment. My goal, however, is to promote the growth of the company I own, Heather's Crew.

Before setting a reasonable career course, many find it important to take an inventory of their current capabilities. During my personal skill assessment, I determined that I have the ability to manage employees, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business, and to implement a plan of action to correct problem areas. I also have knowledge of accounting processes, as well as exceptional sales and customer service skills. Still, the most vital strength I bring to Heather's Hammers is marketing. I am talented in website design, search engine marketing, and search engine optimization. As I determine the best opportunities for my future career development, I have to understand...

Goal Statements Library

...Statement of Goals – Library and Information Science I have submitted my application for admission into the Kent State School of Library and Information Science as an avenue for professional growth within my current career. As a former Spanish teacher and currently a computer technology teacher, it is important to pursue the MLIS as current librarians seek retirement and technology continues to infiltrate libraries across our nation. I am currently interested in pursuing the MLIS plus the K-12 licensure in order to serve in an urban school library setting. My current teaching assignment of computer technology lends itself to a smooth transition from the classroom to a librarian position as our school district places more emphasis on digital media. I remain fully committed to providing instruction to students; however, with teachers and school librarians retiring in droves, I fear that our schools will be left with overworked teachers and no librarians in our schools. By completing the MLIS degree, I will be accomplishing an additional career objective. I remain committed to my career goals that were previously established many years ago. My first goal was accomplished by completing my undergraduate course of study at the University of Cincinnati. My second career goal was to obtain my M. Ed. In School Administration and I accomplished that particular goal in the year 2000. My third goal, albeit somewhat personal, was to earn my private pilot’s license, and I...

Pursue a Master in Business Administration

...To pursue a master's in business administration Gary M. Newsome MGT/521 August 17, 2010 Stephanie Jackson To pursue a master's in business administration Many people set goals in life with a mindset of accomplishing these goals, and there is no more important goal than achieving a higher degree in education. It always has been my ultimate goal to achieve a master’s in business administration (MBA), but because of the time constraints and long deployments of military service, attending an institution of higher education for an MBA was out of the question. After 30 years of military service and beyond the age of 50, there is no better time to conquer my dreams and achieve my personal goal in obtaining my MBA. This accomplishment will open new a new path toward venturing into another outstanding career. The value of higher education is an important factor for advancement. The opportunity to excel would be the primary reason to achieve this goal while gaining the skills, and knowledge, of management. A position of increased responsibility requires much knowledge to be successful and a company, or business, may fail without these credentials. Mintzberg stated that “managers are important people who are supposed to sit above others, removed and disconnected from the work of making products and selling services. The higher they go, the more important they are, so that on reaching the top, becoming Chief Executive Officer; they are the corporation even if they arrived yesterday...

Personal Statement

...nice. I sat in the lobby and waited for the receptionist to announce my arrival to the admissions counselor, Mrs. Bakutis. Shortly thereafter, a young lady emerged from a long hallway, smiling with an extended arm to greet me with a handshake as she introduced herself to me as Paneora Bakutis. As with most conversations, we began our interview with small talk. I complimented her on how nicely decorated the office was, as she went to prepare what looked like materials for our interview. We began our interview and I listened intently while Ms. Bakutis told me of all the wonderful opportunities Morris Graduate College has to offer. We discussed which program may work best for me, location, and financial aid. As we were closing out the interview Ms Bakutis opened a black folder shaped like an elegant envelope and pulled out papers that needed to be returned as soon as possible. She then alerted me that classes would begin on December 2nd, 2013, so it would be beneficial to me to get started as soon as possible. The final thing Ms. Bakutis told me as we wrapped up our meeting is that I would need to submit a personal statement along with two letters of recommendation. Whoa!!!!! At that moment everything stopped. I need to write a personal statement? Wow!!! I’ve never written a personal statement. Am I really ready for this? These were just some of the thoughts running through my mind. I went into panic mode as my mind started racing. Aaaww man, I have to write a paper to get into...

After twelve years in social work, I pursued and successfully completed an accelerated 15-month bachelor’s degree in Nursing at New York University in May 2011. An experience with a family member who had cancer, brought me frequently to the hospital and clinical setting, and this solidified my decision to become a nurse. In the past couple of years as a bedside nurse, I have developed strong interpersonal and psychosocial skills especially in taking care of cancer patients and their families.
