Staying In Foster Care After the Age of 18 and then Going Back to School to Finish Degree

Many Children after the age of 18 decide to leave the system. I was one of the lucky children that got a change to go back to court every year and the judge let me stay in foster care until I was 21. Voluntary young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 who meet the requirements and are presently or were formerly under foster care might be eligible to receive the benefits from this program, including a stipend for expenses, health care, more time to complete school or pursue a higher degree and counseling from a caseworker. This let me save up some money and let me take my basic two years of college. I took classes at Jamestown Community College and never finished my degree back then. I was more worried about making the money back then I was getting a college education. I never thought that piece of paper would effect my future today. If I could go back in time today and teach all the kids what I learned back then what I know now. Stay home with your parents and get your college education when you are young. After I turned 21 I moved down to Pennsylvania and went to Pennsylvania Culinary Arts because I thought that was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After about two years of being there I finally decided that wasn’t for me I and went on to work for Dish Network for four years until they closed down. After they closed I moved back home and tried to find a job without a degree and came to the conclusion that that is very hard to do. That is one day I say a commercial on the TV for University Of Phoenix and decided that it was time to finish my degree. I went back to school about three years and now I have my Associates degree and now I am working on my Bachelors Degree. Sometimes things would be different if I did now see that commercial on

Although I graduated from high school, I have a real problem with self confidence. Keeping up with my classmates from high school on social media sites, I became discouraged and depressed from seeing how successful some of them had become. I often wondered why I haven’t become successful. Why was I made to be a failure? Then it dawned on me that I, myself was my own problem. At different points in my life I’ve often given up when I was faced with a challenge. I always took interest in the healthcare field, and I pursued and completed a certification in nursing. When certain circumstances caused for me to have to go back to school to recertify, instead of pressing on I choose defeat. My greatest obstacles now are my children, for I don’t have a strong support system and because of this I have allowed myself to be defeated by other obstacles in life. When I got into college, my biggest challenge was staying focused and motivated. I continued to stay out late, I would put off assignments until the last minute, I did cram study sessions, I was lazy all the time and couldn’t concentrate, and I missed classes and fell behind on home assignments. This caused a major problem for me like receiving failing grades. I blamed everything and...

...Workshop Six, Activity 6.3: Staying Current on Healthcare Policy Genaro H. Estores MBA 729 – HCM 552 Indiana Wesleyan University Workshop Six, Activity 6.3: Staying Current on Healthcare Policy Staying current with health care legislation is an overwhelming task. Rules and regulations vary from state to state and family to family, depending on individual circumstances. The push to overhaul health care in the United States has resulted in more confusion than ever. When it comes to laws that affect your health and wellbeing, leave no stone unturned. Never assume that what you’ve heard is all there is. If you have questions about health care policy or reform, check with multiple reliable sources. Keeping up with changes in health care is a daunting task. Some may say it is impossible to do so. It seems as though we are constantly bombarded with the “new” - new medical discoveries, new treatments, new technology, new rules and regulations, new equipment, new policies and procedures, new expectations, new forms, and a lot more. These can require some sort of change on our part. So how do we stay on top of it all? Let me offer an approach: 1. What Do You Really Need to Know? - While it might sound radical, I believe a nurse does not need to be on top of it all. Identify the areas of the health care sector that are relevant and of interest to you. You would want to be on top of changes in your particular specialty as well as policy, technology and regulatory issues. ...

Staying Focused

...Staying Focused According to Social Media Defined, “Social Media is the future of communication, a countless array of Internet based tools and platforms that increase and enhance the sharing of information.” In the late 1990’s when AOL Instant Messenger came out and Google Search Engine officially launched, did people ever think that this could be the start of a real world phenomenon? Twenty years ago does not sound like a long time when one looks at the progress technology has already made. Even though some people do not like the distraction of social media or the side effects that comes along with it, social media is here to stay. Technology is not always used in negative ways, it can be very beneficial to people as they go about there everyday life. In Tom Stafford’s article, “Does the Internet Rewire Your Brain?” he employs the rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos effectively. However, his use of unsupported logical appeals may cause his readers to doubt his claim that social media does not rewire your brain. In Brad Friedman’s article, “This Is Your Brain On Social Media” he effectively convinces his audience that people’s brains change while on social media through the use of statistics and logical arguments paired with the use of emotions shown through pictures. Brad Friedman lays out his article in a unique way. He starts off by addressing his audience on how they may not all agree with the use of social media. Staying True to the Faithful

...STAYING TRUE TO THE FAITHFUL 1 Lauren Jay Staying True to the Faithful Ashford University STAYING TRUE TO THE FAITHFUL 2 Abstract The luxurious automobile company, Porsche, attracts a very rare breed of consumer who seeks not only a car but also a companion. Porsche possesses the unique ability to cultivate a bond between car and driver that surpasses nearly every other auto company today. However, in 1970, Porsche unintentionally damaged its relationship with its highly exclusive loyalists through foul judgment, and until very recently, has been fighting to salvage its tarnished image. The company’s misfortune illustrates the complexity of brand building and consumer decision making as well as the importance of understanding consumer behavior. Staying on Her Toes

...Career in Focus: Staying on Her Toes Illustration by: Shutterstock. Dr. Kathleen Bower combines a love of movement with a passion for PT. By Christine Van Dusen October 2015 It was the season of “The Nutcracker” and the teenaged ballerina was dancing in pointe shoes for almost as many hours as she was awake. Every day she’d squeeze her battered feet into a pair of pale pink slippers, tie their silky ribbons around her slim ankles, then rise up on her toes and spin through a graceful series of pirouettes. After the curtain came down on the final show, she couldn’t point her feet or raise up en pointe; her ankles wouldn’t allow it. Her foot felt like it was on backward. This is when Dr. Kathleen Bower ’11 was first introduced to the world of physical therapy— and was set on the path to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduate who would combine her love of movement with a passion for injury prevention. Dance injuries have been on the rise for more than a decade, with a 37% increase reported from 1991 to 2007 in a study by the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Feet are crunched, strained, sprained. Ankles are twisted, elbows are bumped and bruised, and arms are broken during falls. Dancers risk losing mobility with every jeté. When dancing en pointe, the average pressure on the shoe’s toe box is about 220 pounds per square inch. Some of the associated injuries can be career-ending. Bower was fortunate, though...

Staying Ahead of the Game

...Staying ahead of the game by Marketing ON 20 February 2013 As the digital economy comes of age and the marketing disciplines struggle to adapt, we ask four senior practitioners about their professional evolution, how they stay up to date with the changes in their respective professions and what they look for in potential hires. David Redhill Partner and chief marketing officer Deloitte When you started your marketing career what was the digital component of your discipline and role like? I started my marketing career in a computer company, ICL, in 1981 – before desktop computers or even word processors were available to a junior PR and marketing officer. So that meant, ironically, that I was publicising and marketing a digital product in an analogue way. I would type up my press releases on an old IBM golf ball typewriter and hand draw my presentations on marketing strategy on plastic slides for overhead projection – so my marketing career really started in the pre-digital age. Dang, am I really that old?! What comprised your original education? I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in communications at the NSW Institute (now University) of Technology. It gave me a superb grounding in all aspects of media and communication – production, script writing, print, radio and television journalism, mass communication theory, and psychology, music and mass culture, professional writing, radio drama, etc etc. To this day I use just about all of those skills in my marketing career. ...

In the case of the article published in People Weekly, in which a Missouri teenager, with a history of depression, committed suicide after receiving online bullying from the mother of a schoolmate. Financial management is a major part of the health care facility running smoothly. There are numerous financial decisions made on a daily basis regarding business transactions and even some accounts (patient accounts, accounts concerning revenue). There are some ethics that those that are managing and reporting financial information should keep in mind. They are often referred to as the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Each organization may have a different way of doing things but they do have to follow the organizations rules as well as the state and federal regulations. We will touch on that shortly. There are four aspects that take place in financial planning/management. I will be breaking down the elements and explaining each step and I will follow suit with the accounting code of ethics. Undoubtedly, poor planning and short-term investment horizons may have played roles in creating troubles for both companies. To explain why these companies failed, I will explore their mistakes hopefully establishing clear grounds for conclusions and strategic business recommendations. Mistakes Were Made Developing Products with No Market The Humulin-brand was technically successful. However, because of its premium price, the product had no takers.
