Onto the topics of Texas, the United States secretly attempted to annex it for its vast resources, although they had claimed to honor Spain, now Mexico’s longtime ownership of it – another addition to their countless broken promises. As Americans started to settle in Stephen F. Austin’s Texan colony, they continued to shamelessly disrespect their culture, with complaints that ranged from the official documents composed in a language of which they expressed refusal to learn, and having to reside under regulations enforced by Mexican Federals.
