Stressful Days

What do you do when you’re stressed? If I’m starting to feel overwhelmed or as if I can’t handle all of the pressure that I’ve been dealt with, then I tend to either vent to my friends or family, listen to music, or I avoid or alter out unnecessary stress. Everyone has different ways that they cope with stress and these ways I find help myself the most. I cope with being stressed by venting to my friends and family due to the fact that they can add their input and help guide me in the right direction to my happiness again. If it’s self-inflicted stress, then they can help me get out of that with constructive words of criticism which if I’m stressed, is typically needed. I find that my family and friends almost always know what to says. Also, I like venting to my friends because they have a way of comforting me that sometimes my family cannot. They know what makes me calm down, and what also makes me smile and happy again. If my friends and family are knowing that I’m stressed they know very well how to not make me feel alone, because sometimes that’s all you want is someone to be there for you. It’s also not healthy to keep things bottled up inside for too long, and the people closest to us are what help us get by when we are in times of need. Another way that I find helpful when I’m stressed is to just find a place to seclude myself, such as my car, or my room, and just surround myself with music. I like listening to music when I’m stressed due to the fact that more times that not, the music can often relate to your situation. I enjoy listening to music while I’m exercising to motivate me, and I also enjoy listening to music when I’m just laying in bed about to drift asleep. I also truly enjoy listening to music because it’s something I love- I honestly don’t know if I could go a day without listening to music. I find that listening to music is a not a luxury either, its a necessity to help with my stress. There are so many different genres out there as well, depending on what you prefer listening to, or what is relating to your particular situation. Also it was scientifically proven in the PubMed Central experiment indicating that listening to music impacted the psychobiological stress system, meaning that music actually does have an impact on the human body, and a positive one at that. Lastly, I found that the most useful way for me to cope with my stress is to avoid unnecessary stress or alter the situation. If I find that I’m getting overly worked up about a situation then I look to see if it’s a specific person, and if so, then I remove them from the situation and for the time being. If they’re persistent with stressing me out, then I will completely remove them from my life; I truly believe no one deserves negative people in their life. If I can’t avoid a stressful situation, I’ll try to alter it, such as trying to manage my time better. That’ll require me to be able to my assignments, maintain a social life, keep on work, and also try to squeeze in enough hours of sleep. It’s better to plan ahead and don’t do anything you know you don’t have time for, that’ll add more stress. Don’t take a backseat on your own life, deal with your problems as they occur and don’t bottle up your emotions.

Home Daycare vs Commerical Based

...Home Daycare vs. Commercial Based Programs Ronnetta Morris English 121 Instructor August 14, 2011 Looking for a daycare center for your child is an important decision that many parents are forced to make. It can be a very stressful process for new parents to find a daycare center for their child when it is time to return to work or school. Unwanted stress can be avoided by parents when comparing daycares if there is an outline of what type of questions to ask. When choosing a daycare it should be based on your family’s needs and moral beliefs. Taking the time to research every daycare center of interest will give a clear vision of daily operations and expectations on what the daycare will be able to offer. This experience can be very challenging but knowing these answers to the questions will give parents self-awareness of what type of child care setting is best for their family unit. Parents can return to work, leaving their child with a right fit childcare provider and with a peace of mind after several observations of the daycare programs. There are three basic childcare centers that exist: in-home, religious based and commercial centers. Parents have the option of an in-home daycare, religious program or a commercial based program. No matter what program you choose, children are taken care of in a loving and nurturing manner. Some of the difference between all three types of programs may be alarming but it’s helpful information. In-home daycares...

The Effects of Nonparental Child Care

...The decision on whether to choose a child-care center, family day-care home, or in your own home with a nanny can be a stressful decision. Nonparental care has been a topic of debate that has been around for years. The debate can come from how the child is effected, socially, cognitively, psychological and emotionally, will there be a positive impact or will there be a negative impact on the child's life. There are three different types of childcare. Child-Care center, Family Day-Care Homes, and In-Home care takers which is more commonly known as a nanny. The home may be the child's own home, a relative's (grandparent, aunt, etc.)home, or the home of an unrelated person such as a babysitter or nanny. Home care can include the simultaneous care of many children from many families. Home care is referred to as family date care even though the family may not be the child's own family. A home child care center features one care provider who is always with your child. She might have an assistant, but for the most part the provider is the same day after day. This builds a routine for your child, making the day care process easier on everyone. In a center, the providers in a particular room change frequently, which can lead to inconsistency in the routine. A home child care environment is more consistent because one person handles the situations every day (Grey, 2010). In 1998, the National Association for Family Day Care began a program for voluntary accreditation of family child-care...

Parents in College Have to Juggle Responsibilities

...COLLEGE | | 1/12/2014 | `COMP101 | Written by: Garang Wol: Parenting and going to college at the same time is not an easy thing to do. It’s a full-time job especially for single parents. Being a parent and attending school at the same time is very challenging, according to CPCC Family Resource Center coordinator Linda Jones. The most important things parents in college have to deal with right now are money, time management, and finding good-quality childcare. Nedine Muwne is a mother of three children and is in the dental program at CPCC. Muwne, 29, and her husband both work and attend classes at CPCC. “My husband and I needed more than day care for our children especially when the 11- years-old gets home from the school and if the day care center is closed for the other two children,” she said. “For working parents, balancing jobs, children and school can be tough, but we are parents and we have no choice. The only way is to understand a situation we are in,” she Muwne. The only assistance the parents in school get is childcare money and financial aid. “They get money to pay for their school fees and books,” said Sara Graham, program director for TRIO- Student Support Services. It’s not easy for the parents to make it on their own, to be in school and take care of children. “The most important thing is childcare,” she said. Parents in college have encountered problems with time. “Studying and taking care...

Research Proposal

...Overview of Organization The organization that I am proposing for the basis of my research paper is Brownstone Day School. Brownstone is a for profit organization that has been in business and family owned in Lakewood, Ohio since 1989. We are a full time daycare center that accepts age range of infant, toddler, preschool and school age. Brownstone participates in two different programs that include the subsidized child care program which is sponsored through Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Child & Adult Food Care Program. When the director changed in 2010 after replacing the original director of 20 years management took a different turn. Employees that remained on with new director organization and morale decreased. Brownstone no longer felt like a “family” run business even though it was the 2nd generation of the Rafferty family that had taken over. With the change of directors many teachers began to resign and the turn over rate of new teachers reached record numbers. Brownstone is always looking for teachers with any form of a degree to be in compliance with the state. They don't offer a benefits package, 401k plan, sick time and aren't willing to offer a negotiable salary. Brownstone was a top daycare in it's prime but currently struggles to keep in stride with newer and more up to date facilities. I am an infant/toddler teacher and administrative assistant. I started at Tots R Us in October of 2010. I joined Tots R Usat the same time the new director...

Tension In Thirteen Days

...“You’ll never believe how close we came.” Director Roger Donaldson puts this phrase front and center in Thirteen Days, a dramatized, yet fairly accurate view of a period where the U.S. was on the brink of disaster. Thirteen Days is a political thriller that revolves around the Cuban Missile Crisis and how President Kennedy and his administration narrowly prevented World War III. The entire ordeal wasn’t as smooth as history textbooks make it seem, however, with many twists, turns, blunders, and narrow victories. The film doesn’t focus on any one particular person, but chooses to focus on the tension experienced by the entire Kennedy administration behind closed doors. However, the film presents Kenny O’Donnell, one of JFK’s close advisors,...

The first way is offer onsite day care facilities. The study suggests that on-site daycare is not only affordable; it is in many cases profitable. Further, the study found that a majority of workers would be willing to contribute to the cost of employer-sponsored daycare whether or not they used the benefit. "There are several kinds of employers who typically have on-site childcare, such as high-tech and healthcare industries, and others who need 24-hour workers, such as airline reservation companies," notes Connelly. "The few studies that have been done on on-site childcare focused on those companies with highly educated workforces. We were particularly interested in another group of companies - those who weren't offering daycare as part of a whole package of family-friendly benefits or because of a corporate philosophy, but rather because they had done an economic analysis of their particular set of workers and had decided that on-site childcare would be economically beneficial to their company." The second way is pet-friendly offices. Not all companies are created equal when it comes to the acceptance of dogs in the workplace. Some readily welcome your best friend while others...

...Vaughan Cohen Musical Copyright Infringement October 23, 2012 Prof. Hichborn Dillinger Four's "Doublewhiskeycokenoice” vs. Green Day’s “American Idiot” On September 21st, 2004, Green Day released their album “American Idiot,” a work that many believed to the catalyst for their comeback in the early 2000s. The album, released by Reprise Records and produced by their longtime partner Rob Cavallo, achieved huge success worldwide, charting in 27 countries and topping at number one in 19 of them, including the United States and the United Kingdom. American Idiot has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, over 6 million copies of which were in the United States alone, including 267,000 in its opening week (Gunderson, 2008). The album went on to be such a huge success, that in 2010 a Broadway musical was created based on the album, creatively entitled, “American Idiot; The Musical.” Five of the singles on this smash-hit album reached Platinum certification by the RIAA, possibly the most popular being the song entitled “American Idiot.” Among an array of other accolades, “American Idiot” was nominated for four Grammy Awards and was a number one on the charts for an impressive thirteen weeks, and in turn, no doubt brought a huge amount of financial success to the writers and composers of the composition. According to The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), there are three original writers of this composition, being Billy Joe Armstrong (singer), Mike...
