Adolf Hitler had a horrible plan which caused at least 6 million people who were killed during the era. Anne’s family and herself spent roughly 2 years and a month in hiding to avoid the Nazis. In the drama written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett , there were up to eight people in a secret annex. They were under pressure and scared to be taken by the Nazis. They started out in the hiding for a few months and then that turned into years. As the time passed the historical events that occured changed the moods of the characters and changed the characters themselves. Soon as the Jewish rights began changing slowly for Anne and her family they knew the Nazis were looking for the Jewish. They used to live like normal people until they found out and went into hiding. According to Mrs.Frank, “The invasion has come!” “We’re going to be liberated!” (Hackett ,180) What's happening is Mr.Frank and them are scared that they are going to be taken which makes them all apologize for everything while they can. “We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of.” (Hackett , 181) This shows the characters change because Mr.Frank and everyone else start to apologize. Mr.Frank lives in Amsterdam but he doesn't want to stay there much longer because of all the memories there are back there. “I can’t stay in Amsterdam, Miep it has to many memories for me.” (Hackett , 103) What's happening here is Mr. Frank wanted to leave due to so many memories. Even though he would end up being taken either way. He gets really emotional. “...I’m not the person you used to know...” (Hackett , 103) This shows that Mr.Franks mood changes because he wants to leave since there are way too many memories in Amsterdam.
