In the article “Where Are All the Dentists?” by Kristen Lewis, the author states there are not enough dentists in rural areas, but it can be fixed. People who live in rural areas do not have direct access to dentists, so they have to travel long ways to go to the dentists. Another reason some of these people can't go is because the cost is too high, and they can't afford it. Areas like these without direct and easy access to a dentists are called “Dental Deserts”. In these dental deserts, lots of people have very poor hygiene for these reasons. But there was a solution. Many dentists started using things called “Mobile Clinics”, which is basically a portable dentist. They drive to rural areas where people don't have direct access to a dentist,

...Toothpaste • The Algerian Consumers 3) SIKA as a brand 4) Product Description 5) Executive summary 6) Situation analysis 7) Product mix 8) Target markets 9) Marketing strategies 10) Distribution Introduction The world's oldest-known formula for toothpaste, used more than 1,500 years before Colgate began marketing the first commercial brand in 1873, has been discovered on a piece of dusty papyrus in the basement of a Viennese museum. In faded black ink made of soot and gum Arabic mixed with water, an ancient Egyptian scribe has carefully described what he calls a "powder for white and perfect teeth". When mixed with saliva in the mouth, it forms a "clean tooth paste". According to the document, written in the fourth century AD, the ingredients needed for the perfect smile are one drachma of rock salt - a measure equal to one hundredth of an ounce - two drachmas of mint, one drachma of dried iris flower and 20 grains of pepper, all of them crushed and mixed together.  The result is a pungent paste which one Austrian dentist who tried it said made his gums bleed but was a "big improvement" on some toothpaste formulae used as recently as a century ago. The discovery of the formula caused a sensation among Austria's normally sedate dentists when it was disclosed at a dental congress in Vienna. Dr Heinz Neuman, who attended the meeting where the recipe was unveiled, said: "Nobody in the dental profession had any idea that such an advanced...

Letter Writing

...While today is the Age of the Customer, and you may have to kowtow to clients a bit more than in years past, this does not mean you need to put up with abusive, rude, inconsiderate, or unprofessional behavior. Most clients are reasonable people, but some are not. Do not allow a difficult or unreasonable client to bully you. Should you be respectful? Of course. Should you follow orders? Yes. Should you let other people treat you badly or make you feel bad about yourself? Definitely not! Consultant Howard Shenson said that for a client/service provider relationship to be effective, the relationship must be one of equals, of peers. While that sounds good, I’m not sure it’s accurate and viable anymore. In today’s marketplace, the clients are in the driver’s seat, and clearly, they know it. No matter how good you are, no matter how big your reputation, the client controls the dollars and therefore controls you. You exist to serve the client. Therefore the client/service provider relationship is more boss/employee than peer/peer. Vendors who think otherwise are, for the most part, fooling themselves. Letters are typically spaced one, two, or four weeks apart. The intensity and aggressiveness of the collection letter increases as the series progresses. The last letter typically states that unless payment is made promptly, the invoice will be turned over to a collection agency or attorney. Another effective tactic is to suggest that the customer’s credit rating may...

Improve Quality by Improving Access to Oral Health for Elderly Population in Ltcf

...oral health care for elderly population in Massachusetts who are residents in Long Term Care facilities. (Clemencia M. Vargas, 2001) The elderly are identified in the U.S. Surgeon General’s report on oral health as one of the most vulnerable populations with regard to poor dental care. In Massachusetts 13.3% of the state’s population are considered seniors, defined as being 65 years of age or older. There are more than 143,000 residents age 85 and older and that number is expected to grow 52% by the 2030. About 45,000 Massachusetts residents live in long term care facilities and there is no one-size-fits-all model of oral health care for this growing population. Many seniors are keeping their natural teeth, which increases the likelihood of dental and periodontal disease. Elderly without teeth still require regular examinations of soft tissue and adjustments of prostheses. All of this increases the need for restorative care which puts a greater burden on the care system. Older adults are more likely to have at least one...

...over 82 million prosthetic placements by 2016.” (idata research.net, 2012) “Dental implants have earned the reputation of being the best aesthetic option for single-tooth replacement," said Dr. Kamran Zamanian, CEO of iData. "By 2016, over 20% of general practitioners are expected to place dental implants and their adoption of computer-guided-surgery will further the growth of this market." (idata research.net, 2012) In the past the treatment options were limited to extractions with no replacement teeth, dentures, or fixed bridges. All of these options were stop gap measures to maintain oral stability. The cost of progressively treating the loss of a tooth in one or more areas often involved multiple procedures and time, which made it very expensive. With implants replacing a tooth root, and giving the bone the support it needs in often one procedure, patients are seeing the permanent value implants give at a fixed cost. The consumer or dentist in our case is always looking to increase their margins, and lower their fixed operating costs. One of the most expensive costs is labor. With implants, the cost is fixed and a surgeon...
