Supply chain management and strategies will be discussed to new hires in Hangzhou, China. Riordan Manufacturing can use the supply chain management theory to help each function in the supply chain connect and become more efficient. Riordan Manufacturing plans to use a competitive strategy and “go green.” Riordan’s customer fulfillment mission is to “strive to be a solution provider for our customers and not be a part of our customer’s challenges” (University of Phoenix, 2013, p. 1). ...Servicing and Production Manufacturing Justin Dome OPS/571 February 16th 2015 Manuel Gonzalez Servicing and Production Manufacturing The purpose of this summary is to inform the reader of the different types of process designs available for service products and manufacturing products. In this summary, transportation and fish processing will be used as examples for service process design. Products that utilize the service sector have three approaches. They are process design, self-service, and production line approach. The process design approach builds on creating good rapports with the customer, and in some cases, the customer’s customer. The approach must be able to balance customer’s needs to the realistic capabilities of the company. Self-service approach focuses on getting the customer involved in parts of the “transaction” or process. While services like banking have strived off of automated teller machines, certain industries do not have the capabilities or offer services that could benefit from the self-service approach. The production line approach gives the company control of a process at each outlet to ensure it meets theirs and the customer’s standards. Production line approach; while found more commonly in manufacturing, is seen in the food service industry. Relating this to the transportation industry, the process design approach is a crucial part of building and maintaining a business. The continued relationship built between the customer and the customer’s...

Executive Summary

...Executive Summary Greg Hunter OPS/571 05/05/2014 Dr. Raymond House Jr. Executive Summary I’ve selected food services and cars for a suitable process and product design approaches. In order to manage services and deliver on-site services, there are three types of contrasting approaches which include product line approach, self-service approach, and the personal attention approach. Cars are a way of life these days without them our way of life cannot exist. The main focal point in this industry is the result. A car company must produce a quality product that fits the end-user's taste. The three main line item approaches I will discuss will be the job process, batch production, and assembly line. All are a part of the manufacturing of cars. Process Design Matrix Self-service Approach The self-service approach is more consumers driven. The efficiency of this service process can be enhanced E-tickets, Automatic teller machines, company websites which these are just some of the approaches that shift the burden to the consumer (Larson & Gray, 2006). This design approach will also be supportive of the food company, in terms of offering good quality of products to the customers as well as reducing time of service delivery (Chase, 2006). For the reason, due to self-service approach the company will be able to focus on the delivery of effective and efficient services in a less period. ...Overcoming Process Bottlenecks Jauwanna Pitts OPS/571 September 24, 2012 Michelle O'Hagan Overcoming Process Bottlenecks Bottleneck is defined as as any resource whose capacity is less than the demand placed upon it. A bottleneck is a constraint within the system that limits throughput (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano, 2006). In week one a flow chart was designed to measure and improve the process of International sales orders. The goal of the process flowchart was to create ways to make the order entry process less time consuming and more efficient. Action items were put in place to create a better process. A definition and application of Goldratt’s theory of constraints to identify and overcome process bottlenecks will be included as well. The Process The main bottleneck in the international process is the fact that entering orders is such a manual process. There are twelve steps involved to enter one purchase order: 1. Receive orders by email 2. Flag orders according to importance 3. Print emails 4. Move orders to the individual countries folders in Microsoft Outlook 5. Correlate the orders 6. Staple the orders 7. Separate the orders by country for order entry 8. Pull up electronic copy of the international address book 9. Order Entry 10.
