From the research, we found that the TUC Stakeholders Pension Scheme has been selected the Prudential to be their commercial partner following an extensive 6-stage selection procedure. TUC found that the Prudential is the one that able to offer the high quality of admin system to support the TUC Stakeholders Pension Scheme and their marketing strategies was developing highly as it can suit the needs of the small unions and small employers.Besides that, Prudential has the experience of providing group pensions and of working with affinity groups. The most important is the Prudential is the one UK’s largest institutional investors and the largest pensions and unit trust provider. This is why that the Prudential had scored highly against the TUC’s assessment criteria during the selection process. The TUC has set their goal which is ensure that TUC Stakeholder Pension Scheme is the best of the market- the one against which other stakeholders pension scheme will be judged. It said by the TUC General Secretary John Monks. Or it can been said that they are teaming up with a top pension provider (Prudential, 27 Jul 2000).
By running the TUC Stakeholders Pension Scheme, it will provide a cost efficient way of people to save for a pension of the first time. Moreover, the provision of a TUC wide- stakeholders pension scheme, they enable the TUC to get the better financial deal than would be possible from unions working individually. After interpreting the information that what we get, we found that the Prudential’s stakeholder pension will bring together the two strongest attributes of Prudential’s bunisness and it can proven that they have a long experience in delivering quality financial product as one of the Britain’s most innovative providers of the financial services by using the new opportunities which are presented by the advancemnt of the technology and the media revolution. Certainly, we can get the information about their product through online, they also enable customers to buy and manage their own stakeholders pension products. ( Prudential, 27 Jul 2000).
Furthermore, the Prudential invested heavily to bring in the new technology so that it help us can administer the scheme online and the employee can access their pension details online either is from home or at work immediately. The Prudential’s e-commerce stakeholder solution which is supported by a service centre, which is the way that enables us and the employees to have a call for help and acquire for more details and information of it. They had been stated that we can gain from the lower cost, easier and faster adminstration and a better quality service. Meanwhile, the Prudential is offering the some services for us such as reduce using the paper, provide more accurate and efficient data processing, allows immediate online access to information, to improve the communication between the employees, perform the simple calculation, and view or download all the product literature ( Prudential’s E-Commerce Stakeholders Solution). It also helps to advances in data warehousing and customer relationship management enables instituition to better target individual customers with tailored services and products. In terms of increasing turnover, they are existing the customers whom are lower than the new customers as the marginal cost of cross-selling products and services. It was believed that it will brings along benefits to the institutions ( Prudential Issues in Electronic Commerce, 2001).
After restructuring and re-engineering the traditional operations, Prudential had occured some changes on their business’s results likes, their new business achieved profits up 46% at $603 million UK dollars, record in-flow of new funds of over $ 18 billion UK dollars, related the profit before admortisation of goodwill up 6% to $996 million, and plans for IPO of a minority stake in. It had shown that, this strategy is using to maintain the leadership postion in rapidly changing financial services sectors. Besides that, the technology is be used to maximise the development and efficiencies across all the areas of the business instead of giving the customers a better access to their business as high levels of customer services and drives down unit costs. Not only for these benefits, they also bought M&G and integrate it successfully with PPM in UK, which allow them to pay more attention on those areas of fund management whre they have unique strengths and competitive advantages likes unit trusts, fixed income, pooled life and pension funds (Prudential plc 1999 Unaudited Results, 23 February 2000).
As we know, the e-commerce also occurs the potential risks to institutions, expecially through online. For instance, operational risks issues, which is more relying upon the system’s relaibility and intergrity and as a results is highly vulnerable to operational risks.Simplify that, system mulfuntional or failure due to internal or external causes, technical incompatibility of systems, system obsolencences and breaches in security which will increase the operational risks. The major part that always curious and concern by all the companies is the security. In terms of respectful of dealing over the internet, it will be considered less secure than other distribution channels likes closed networks, ATMs and EFTPOS. Unless they had control and procedures strongly which helps to protect the information and not easily hacked by other users. Certainly, it may need high level encryption techiniques, firewalls and other security tools.
Last but not least, the reputational risks will be affected by the electronic commerce. For example, electronic commerce customers expected they can access to financial services, accessible from almost anywhere within 24 hours. Wide accesesbility was introduced and promoted to financial products and services, instituitions runs the risks of the customer dissatisfactions should services such unvailable due to system faults, mulfuntions and it is under maintenance. Mostly the problems are caused by breakdowns in system faults or breaches in security which are may lead to reputational risks. By giving another examples, likes related to business to business when the customers are transfering any transactions or placing any order through the bank sites. Just because of the bank’s involvement in this process, there are certainly will be occurs some risks on it. Likes, customers will be consider the bank implicitly guranteeing the creditworthiness of the other part to the transaction and this could have reputational consequenses for the bank in the event of non-payment.

Education in Chinese Philosophy

...Erik Thomas Chinese Civilization 10/24/12 Jingyu XUE Compare the attitude towards education in Confucian, Taoist, and Legalist thought There were several salient schools of philosophy that arose during early years of the development of Chinese civilization. The era was subject to not only political fragmentation and excessive warfare, but also the birth of unique intellectual foundations as well. Confucius rallied together a school of thought that underscored the utmost importance of humanism and virtue. Han Fei and the legalist movement advocated for a centralized, domineering government that subordinated all citizens to absolute obedience. Taoism insisted on a spontaneous, free-spirited, and laissez-faire approach to life. These three prominent philosophies of the time were very different. For instance, they all placed radically different values on education. In particular, Confucianism promoted intellectual pursuit for both the individual and the populace, whereas Legalism and Taoism had a diverging attitude that was strongly against education. The Confucian ideology is the only one of the aforementioned schools to place a heavy emphasis on intellectual cultivation for both personal purposes and for the sake of a virtuous government. The philosophy looks down on those with faith in intuition and natural understanding, which is a notion that is present in Taoism. They believe that genuine understanding derives primarily from studying a subject; it does not necessarily...

Stars

...how bright the appear to us in the sky. The scale is somewhat arbitrary, as explained above, but a magnitude difference of 5 has been set to exactly a factor of 100 in intensity. Absolute magnitudes are how bright a star would appear from some standard distance, arbitrarily set as 10 parsecs or about 32.6 light years. Stars can be as bright as absolute magnitude -8 and as faint as absolute magnitude +16 or fainter. There are thus (a very few) stars more than 100 times brighter than Sirius, while hardly any are known fainter than Wolf 356. Place You Know Well

...looked up and I was able to see the stars that lit up the sky above me. As I walk down to the lake, I was able to hear the crickets’ chirping and the owls hooting as they hear the crackling of the snow that I’m stepping upon. As I look through the horizon of the snow, I saw the never ending slope falling towards the lake that apparently was frozen. As I sat on one of the unfrozen steps, I looked up once again, and I see the beautiful full moon sitting on a cloud. The stars shined even brighter when the moon glistened its light down to Earth. The lake looked really calm and I only saw a couple of ripples being caused by a female duck and her ducklings swimming in the middle of the lake. In the morning when I looked outside the window, the sun shined beautifully through the icicles that dangled down the side of the house. When I drove down to the city, you can see the cities that are at sea level. As I continued looking down, I see the clouds climbing up the mountains. And as I reach out of the car’s window, I can feel the refreshing mist that touches my fingertips.   The scenery of the cities down below can’t no longer be seen because of the clouds the cover the scene like a...

...astrological blue Moon. A blue Moon usually only occurs if it is the second one in a single month. This blue Moon is an astrological one because the Moon has been stuck in Leo and Aquarius since the last full Moon on July 22nd. It is what is called a seasonal blue Moon It will present the third of four full moons to fall in the same season. A season is defined as the period of time in between a solstice and an equinox – or vice versa. This full moon is the third of four full moons to take place in between the June 2013 solstice and the September 2013 equinox. That makes the August 2013 full Moon a Blue Moon! This Moon is also called the Sturgeon Moon or the Corn Moon. This Aquarius full Moon has an extra bit of creative magic with the Sun in Leo. Science and Religion

...Richard Bernal July 5, 2013 World Religions Professor McCormack Can Science and Religion Co-Exist We hear from different scholars and people that science and religion can co-exist and some says it cannot. I say that it can to a certain extent. I believe that science is what God wants us to know and he has helped us throughout the ages discover new things. We discovered that the Sun is the center of the Milky Way and that the planets revolve around it. We discovered that the Earth is round and that people will not fall off. New planets are being discovered and old planets becoming something else (poor Pluto). I will also explain why I believe that science and religion can co-exist to a certain point later on in the paper. According to Professor Ayala, “Science and religious beliefs need not be in contradiction if they properly understood. They cannot be in contradiction” (NPR, 2010 ). I have always asked myself, how did God created the Earth? I still ponder that. We know from the first book in the bible that God created the world on day one (whatever that means in God years). So what if science has a few theories on how it happened. What if science may be on the right track into figuring it all out? In this case I do believe what Professor Ayala said that religion and science does not need to be in contradiction for as long as they are understood. Now here is my issue, the origin of life. Professor Ayala explains that religion tells us how to get to heaven but science...

Explain Plato’s Analogy of the Cave. (25 Marks)

...Explain Plato’s analogy of the cave. (25 marks) The analogy of the cave is written in Plato’s famous book known as Republic. It is one of the three similes he uses to illustrate his theory of Forms. Plato uses analogy to help describe philosophical difference between physical world and the difference of the world of forms. In short the analogy explains to others about the physical world as nothing but full of illusion. He describes the true reality is to be found in the eternal unchanging world of forms. The analogy begins in the cave. The cave represents the visible world or the world of sense experience, where the shadows seem more real than truth itself. It indirectly represents the human body, which imprisons the soul preventing it from seeking the true knowledge. People are chained up in the cave such a way that all prisoners are facing the wall. They are chained up in a way that they can only look ahead of them at the wall of the cave. The only light in the cave comes from the fire. There is a wall behind the prisoners and fire is located behind the wall. Behind the wall other people are walking up and down carrying statues on their heads. The prisoners observe the shadows that flicker before them. The prisoners believe the shadows are reality as that is all they are able to see. If they hear the people behind the wall they associate the sounds made by individuals with the shadows. They think of the shadows as the true reality. Plato represents our condition as human...

Critically Evaluate the Factors Influencing the Global Heat Budget

...which are more important than others. In this essay I am going to describe and explain each factor involved. Insolation is the incoming energy from the sun in shortwave ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The distribution of insolation over the Earth’s surface is complicated; however there are patterns to be seen. Insolation has numerous aspects to it that each affects it in turn, which are divided into three categories of long term, short term and local. Quite possibly the most important aspect is latitude, a long term factor. The effect of latitude on the heat budget can be seen all over the globe, but the most striking examples are that the annual amount of insolation in the Arctic region, located 66° north of the equator, is 75 W/m2 however it is 275 W/m2 in Egypt, located 26° north of the equator. Latitude holds such a large effect on insolation because a variation in latitude means variations in the altitude of the sun. Altitude of the sun affects insolation because as the angle of the sun in the sky decreases and becomes more oblique, the land area to be heated up by the rays and the depth of atmosphere they must travel through increase. Therefore the amount of insolation lost through absorption, scattering and reflection increases. Areas in lower latitudes have higher temperatures than those in higher latitudes, because the sun is at a higher angle of incidence. One might expect the highest amount of insolation to be found on land directly below the equator, due to the sun’s highest...

Unit 5 Assignment 2

...An issue in today’s world is the environment. There is dispute over what we should do about it. One issue in the environment is global warming. Global warming has become a problem around the world; it is caused by CO2 emissions and other gases in the atmosphere that cause the sun’s thermal energy to be absorbed, otherwise known as the greenhouse effect. Studies have shown that at least 20% of ice on Earth has melted since 1979. Although it may not sound so bad, every year we deplete the natural ice on Earth by using CO2-emitting machines such as vehicles, factories, and other heavy machinery. The depleting may accelerate until all naturally-made ice caps and glaciers are gone. Ocean levels will rise sky-high from the melted ice. Global warming is also causing change in both wind and ocean currents. The ocean currents have changed so dramatically scientists believe anymore change may cause catastrophic waves, not to mention the change in the flow of things. The wind’s change in direction may cause high-speed winds, and horrendous tornadoes. A mixture of the two would cause weather worse than Hurricane Katrina. Despite disagreements on this subject, studies have shown that this could possibly happen if we keep going the way we are. Of course, in 1972, scientists were afraid another ice age would happen because the temperature was going down half a degree between 1945 and 1968. Then, the temperature started rising. This shows that it may or may not happen. But from...

Research Methodology

...Newspaper readership is the people who read or are thought to read a particular newspaper. Decline in newspaper circulation and readership does not mean newspaper readership is aging. In fact, declining newspaper circulation and readership is happening at the same time with aging newspaper readership. Looking at the macro vision of aging newspaper readership, general social factors suggest that aging population and new way of newspaper reading by young people (i.e. reading online newspaper articles, reading free newspapers). In micro term, cohort effect, new reading style of non print news articles and cost of newspaper are three of the reasons why newspaper readership is aging. Aging of newspaper readership has impacts on societies and which aging readership has relationship to voter participation.
