Introduction
The Slade Company was a small but prosperous manufacturer of metal products designed for industrial application. It was located in central Michigan with 500 employees. The plating department of Slade had formed certain informal team in which some employees had dishonest behaviours.
The case describes a conflict between the values and norms of a segment of an internal social system and those of management and the wider culture. The dishonest behaviour that the employees of the plating department are engaged in has no negative effects on the desired output of the department. As a result, the Slade management should not be consumed with addressing this issue and consider it a low priority. However, Ralph Porter must consider why employees are forced to fulfil their basic needs outside procedure and address the flaws of a department policy that rewards attendance and discourages productivity.
In this assignment, we will discuss Slade’s external environment, central problem, alternatives, analysis, and finally give some recommendation.
