...King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table Chapter 1: Arthur and Merlin Read by Nathalie Drasse This very old story begins with Uther, a great king. He was a good man and he was king in the south of Britain. Other places were very dangerous at that time, but people did not fight in Uther's country. Uther loved a beautiful woman, Igraine, and he wanted to marry her. But she did not love him and he was very sad about that. Merlin was a very clever man and he knew a lot of magic. He could change into an animal or bird. Sometimes, when he used magic, nobody could see him. He also helped people with his magic, and one day he came to King Uther. 'You can marry Igraine,' he said. 'I will help you. But when you have a child, you will have to give the boy to me.', I will give him to you,' said the King. He married Igraine and later they had a baby son. They called him Arthur. When Arthur was three days old, a very old man arrived at the door of the King's house. It was Merlin. King Uther took the child in his arms and gave him to Merlin. Merlin took the child away. He gave the boy, Arthur, to a good knight. His name was Sir Ector. So Arthur lived with Sir Ector and his son, Kay, and the two boys were brothers. A short time after this happened, King Uther was very ill. He did not get better. He called for Merlin because he wanted to talk about the future of his country. Merlin came and listened to the King. 'I know that I am going to die,' King Uther said. 'Who will be king after me...

HORATIO: It looks so much like the old king. It’s terrifying. Look at its armor. The king was wearing exactly this armor when he fought the king of Norway. And it frowns just like the king did when he attacked the poles, travelling on an ice-sled. HORATIO(speaking to the GHOST): What are you, that you walk out so late at night, looking like the dead king of Denmark when he dressed for battle? By God, I order you to speak. GHOST disappears. However, if I take matters into my own hands rather than just letting events play out as they will), and that disrupts fate's system. it was fated that I would kill Duncan and that's what the witches were predicting when they said I’ll become king. Who on earth dislikes power, pelf and fame. Seeds of these aspirations enters into our physic and grow bigger and bigger. When it the ripe time, we all act for fruit. There, inside of me existed the seeds of aspirations embedded in my heart. As soon as the witches predicted (my long-life-desires) those grew up and finally longed intensely for fruit. I couldn’t but work it out my way. If I had left it to natural circumstances I am a man accused of being an ambitious man, one who plotted to murder his own cousin, so that he could lay claim to the title of the crown. I didn’t deny I murdered the deceased. This fact is not disputed. I wasn’t of sound mind when I committed this act. In fact, I was the victim in this...

Examples Of Power Hungry In Macbeth

...Power Hungry In “The Tragedy of Macbeth” By William Shakespeare, the theme displayed through characters is power hungry. Macbeth at the beginning of the story is speaking highly as if he wants to be in charge and be crowned King. Macbeth states “When those that gave the Thane of Cawdor to me promised me no less to them? (Shakespeare 309). The words spoken from Macbeth show Shakespeare’s theme of being power hungry. It shows that Macbeth wants to be a noble king and will do what it takes to get there. Additionally, in Act 1, Lady Macbeth joins Macbeth on trying to kill King Duncan. Lion King vs. Hamlet

...ludicrous at first, is in reality, more sensible than one might think. Since 1994, The Lion King has been a must-see film for children all around the world. Its 8.5 rating on IMDB lists it alongside of some of the greatest movies ever made. Children’s movies that were released around this time were all shallow and simplistic. The reason why The Lion King was so successful is because it was an unexpected and pleasant anomaly. The Lion King is a story of responsibility and revenge, masked by a setting that is known to be appealing to children. However, this is not the first time something with this same story line has been told. In fact, William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, one of the most popular pieces of literature of all time, parallels The Lion King in many more ways than one. The Lion King and Hamlet are best compared through the actions of the secondary characters, the exploration of the theme of death, and the striking similarities present in each works’ protagonist. Obviously, all plot events are not exactly the same, however the differences are insignificant to the point that the majority of the storyline and major characters still remain the same. The reflections of Hamlet in The Lion King are so strong that there are 3 sets of secondary characters that bear a striking resemblance to one another: Mufasa and King Hamlet, Claudius and Scar, as well as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and the hyenas. King Hamlet ruled his country virtuously and successfully. This is made clear by Horatio...
