“TAKING CARE OF AN EGG”

“Effort is the best way of showing how much you love, care, and value someone even without commitment”.

For the past few weeks taking care of this “special thing” has been one of my priorities. Maybe it’s not the best among the rest, but I know that I give my 100% effort in taking care of my EGG. During the day when our Prof. told us that we have to bring an egg for the next meeting, the first thing that popped in my mind is that we are going to cook some egg recipe. I know it sounds funny to think that cooking is not even our subject curriculum. The following day she ask us if we bought the eggs that she told us to, and when we told her yes she then signed each egg. After that, Mrs. Danila announced that we’re going to take care of the egg for the whole midterm thus 50% of our grade depends on how good we handle those egg. Going home with the egg in my bag makes me feel so anxious, I was like a paranoid girl in love whose afraid, to break and lost her most precious guy. Well I guess the reason why I’m afraid to break my egg is that I don’t want to fail, coz’ failing for me is like losing a big chance. That day, when I got home the first thing I did was look for something cute where I can place my egg that I can consider safe and comfy. I ended up buying a cute dark blue box at the National Bookstore, but I find its color a bit boring so I decided to buy a violet colored paper to wrap it up. And to add more color to my work I put a white cotton inside the box surrounding the egg, and a printed tissue on top of the white cotton. After designing my Egg’s home I put it inside my cabinet for it to be more safe and secured. I never allowed my nephews to touch my precious box(ahaha),I don’t want anyone touching my egg except me. I’m mean, I knew it, but I just told them to understand me this time because this is really important to me. Every Tuesday and Thursday I bring my Egg with me in going to school, because our Prof. told us to do so. She said “No Egg means Absent”, so what it’s gonna be, I have to bring my Egg with me every profeth class, for the whole midterm season.

The next day, going to school with my egg that was placed in a comfortable box, anxiousness doesn’t bother me that much because I know that whatever or wherever I go it won’t break that easily. But I know I still have to be careful especially that I am in a public vehicle and everything might happen unexpectedly. I know I am not the only who feels like this, I wonder what my classmates did for this task. Do they freak out just like me sometimes? Or did they also exert effort for this whole “making your Egg safety” thing? Does they take this task seriously, like me? These are just some of many questions that keeps on coming my mind every time I see and think of my egg. And when I got to school the first thing that they would ask is that if I brought my egg, well yeah I always bring my egg, how can I forgot.(). These scene has just keep on happening every Tuesday and Thursday. Well I get to know that I am not the only one who gave an effort to this project, even my classmates gave their best to make their work presentable and worth to be recognize. Everyone had their own style. Some eggs were designed as a smiley, others just paint their eggs with different colors. They really give time and some effort just like me, but then unlike my egg I just make it simple and instead focus in giving it a comfy place. I want my project to reflect my personality, me as a simple person who do not want to have so much accessories in my life, I always like to stay plain yet still presentable and wholesome. Yet everything is not perfect, there will always be a failure. Unfortunately two of my classmates cracked their eggs, one of them spread the unpleasant smell of the cracked egg inside her bag that became smelly inside her bag. I feel so sorry for them for what happened. I’m so thankful that it didn’t happen to me, because if in case, I think I’m gonna freaked out. I’m just so lucky to not experience such defeat like they do. It is because I check my egg every day and I make sure that every part of it is okay, and don’t have cracks. Having this kind of project is a lot of new experiences and new learnings. I got the opportunity to develop my skills in taking good care of something that’s breakable and doing extra effort for the improvement of what you think is already the best. Actually this is the first time that I take care of an egg for a school project and it is quite interesting and entertaining. Interesting in a way that you don’t know what will happen to your egg at the end of the day, if it will be broken and entertaining as well because it can be a little funny knowing that you are taking care of an egg that’s really ready to be cooked. At first I doubted myself that I can take care of my Egg until the submission, coz’ I’m a bit careless sometimes. That’s why I thought that I might broke it before the final checking, I’m afraid our teacher won’t like my design. But all these doubts has been replaced with happiness when my egg survive till the end, plus some of my classmates and our Prof. found my simple artwork cute and presentable. I think this is one of the best things I’ve done in my life as a student and I know that I deserve all the good feedbacks coz’ I give everything that I can to make this all worth it. Now that everything is done I miss my Egg!! It’s been almost one month of giving attention to the oval-shaped thing that makes me feel anxious and paranoid, just to get a good grade. (WEW)…XOXOXO

The most important lesson that I learn during this entire time I am taking care of this I consider a “special thing”, are “Giving attention and effort to the things that are valuable to you is not just for one day but, for every single day that you have time, so that you won’t regret anything in the end” and if you want to achieve something you have to work hard, give effort and time, in return everything will happen just as what you wanted to be. Taking care of an egg reflects on how you take care of yourself, and on how you value, care, and love someone in your life even without commitment.

Pros And Cons Of Birth Control

...another form of birth control which is the most common form. This form is the pill or an oral contraceptive. With the pill you have to take it everyday at the same time to get the best results. This pill costs about $0-$50 each month. This form is nothing like the shot this form you have to get it every month or you can become pregnant. With the pill it keeps the eggs from leaving your ovaries. It also helps by making your cervical mucus thicker which keeps the sperm from getting to the eggs. (" Birth Control Pill") With the pill you also still need your parent consent because this is in a form of pill and with this form you need to take it every day at the same time. Also your parents will have to pay for the pill because it cost $50 dollars every month how can a teenager who does not have a job afford to pay for that every month. With the pill it takes a lot of responsibility to remember to take the pill everyday at the same time. If the teenager was to not be careful and not take it the same time every day then it could result into a major problem. That is why the teenager needs to have a parent knowing that they are taking pills to help keep them from getting pregnant. The next use of birth control is the vaginal ring or the NuvaRing. This ring is a small ring that is out into your vaginal area one a once for three weeks to help prevent pregnancy. It is a very safe, effective, and convenient way of birth control. It is very easy to get with a prescription through your doctor office...

Critical Analysis to Support Theme of Slavery in “Bloodchild”

...themes present. However, the most controversial discussions are about wether “Bloodchild” is a love story, or a story of slavery. While Octavia Butler will say it is “a love story between two very different species” (“Afterward” 20). In Pamela Maynard’s critical analysis “Lessons from Culture” she argues that “Bloodchild” cannot be considered a love story because of the undeniable theme of domination present throughout the story (Maynard 1). After reading “Bloodchild” and “Lessons from Culture” I agree with Maynard’s statement that this story is not about love, but about the slavey and manipulation of the Terrans by the Tlics. This theme can be seen when analyzing the interactions that both Lien and Gan have with T’Gatoi. In Maynard’s essay she discusses how humans naturally feel like the dominant species and that all other species are inferior to humans (Maynard 2). She then begins to discuss a character is Butler’s story who reflects this same belief “Butler creates Gan’s brother Qui to represent his conventional culture and thought. Qui views his family’s state under non-human domination as ‘unnatural’, and sees Terrans as little more than slaves.” (Maynard 2) While I do agree with Maynard when she states that Qui feels humans should be superior and feels like a slave with the Tlics. I do not agree that Qui is the only character Butler has created that is rejecting the Terrans relationship with the Tlics. While Qui is the only character to specifically state his opinion...

If it is implied, state the thesis in your own words. In my opinion the thesis of Lou’s Place is implied. It does imply that Lou and his customers have an unspoken bond and fondness for one another, even though they belittle each other and the customer pays to pour their own coffee. Lou’s Place is not that place where the service is perfect or the conversation is polite. It is that place where you can be yourself; cook your own eggs and where service is not at all prompt. It is almost as if you are at home with family and friends. You will be criticized before you even find a complement. 2. Which statement would best serve as a topic sentence for paragraph 13? Ethics

...Lisa O’Neil Ethics and Genetic Engineering Essay Ethics are part of our everyday decisions, in order to be ethical we need to firstly understand the basis of ethics. The word ‘Ethics’ comes from the greek word ‘ethikos’ which relates to the customary way to behave in society. Ethics is a branch of philosophy dates back to before 367 b.c. Famously in the history of ethics and philosophy were ‘’The Three Wise Greek Men’’ Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Socrates was a teacher of philosophy and Plato was Socrates student for approximately ten years, and when Socrates died, Aristophanes became Plato's student. Aristotle views were that ‘’ethics is a virtue of happiness, and that the pursuit of virtue is the highest and noblest aim for a human being’’ . Aristotle can be seen as saying ‘’ Nobody would choose to live without friends even if they had everything else they desired ‘’ (quoted from The Puzzle of Ethics- Peter Vardy pg 31). Socrates took a practical view on ethics, he was concerned with ‘’how an individual would live in order to achieve happiness’’. Socrates can be seem as saying; ‘’Think hard enough and you will always find that doing the right thing is best for you ‘’ ( quoted in Peter singers A companion to Ethics, Blackwell p. 125 ). Plato's view was much more in depth and most famously contradicts Socrates work. Plato believes ethics is ‘’ knowledge is the virtue of happiness ‘’ . Plato can be seen as saying ‘’ If you believe something is right than its right...

Should Vaccines Be Required for Children?

...Should Vaccines Be Required for Children? Terry J. Vervenne DeVry University Should Vaccines Be Required for Children? Shots, inoculations, vaccines, do children need them? This is the issue that needs to be discussed. Why are vaccines a necessity of current times? Even though vaccines may have some side effects, they have saved many lives as everyone already knows. They prevent many types of diseases and stop the spread of others. Just image having to send your children to school that’s filled with other children carrying diseases and viruses. Viruses such as small pox, measles, and mumps that could invade your child’s body which in most circumstances will then be brought home and spread to other family members. Therefore, every child in America needs to be vaccinated before beginning school because vaccines can prevent disease, save lives, and alleviate sick days at school. Firstly, many of these contagious diseases in children are preventable. Many of the viruses that cause diseases such as measles, mumps, or small pox are very dangerous. Sometimes the symptoms are very mild or not even noticed. While other times the symptoms can be severe, possibly even leaving a residual effect. For example, as everyone knows, if an adult male contracts mumps, this may cause sterility. Another example is polio, although preventable, once this disease is contracted it can lead to permanent muscle weakness. Once someone contracts one of these types of disease, it can possibly be fatal...

Health Ethics

...on whether or not abortion should be legalized. In Mary Pluski's case, I do not think it is morally wrong for her to want to have the abortion. She wants to have the abortion, because she's not ready to have any children. She was not having sex for the pleasure of it, she was raped and that is believed to be the cause of the pregnancy. I personally feel that a women should be allowed to choose if she wants to have an abortion or if she wants to keep the baby. I believe in pro-choice, which means that a woman should have complete control of her decision to either continue with the pregnancy or terminate the pregnancy. In the Mary Pluski Case, she was raped, became pregnant and does not want to have a baby. She is not ready to take care of a baby and she does not want to bring a baby into the world while she is not ready to make that change into her life. In some cases of rape, abortion can be seen as a method to free the woman of the pain and trauma the victim may have received. For plenty women, giving birth to a child that resulted from a rape can be just as brutal as the rape itself. I believe the ethical theory my argument reflects would be Act Utilitarianism. The person that may or may not have the abortion is making a decision for a certain reason. The decision may not be a right or wrong decision, because of the outcome or consequence of the decision. We all have freedom and it is that person's decision on what they decide to do. It is their body and...

Scientific Frauds

...Introduction Scientific frauds could be also called as knowledgeable deception and they are high on rise, some of them stayed within the scientific community making headlines and some them have reached the public who have paid the price of such frauds such as in the case of Autism linked MMR vaccine, which had caused a stir and people still remain to be affected by it and then there is the case of Woo-Suk Hwang,an stem cell researcher who rose to fame however soon it was known that the data was fabricated and the papers were retracted. The general public wasnt affected by it however it does involve and time and money to replicate such results and which is never acheived. So it actually a fraud or a human error, the only difference between a fraud and an error is intention. It could be argued that is there any room for scientists to make errors and yes we all are capable of making errors, they can make errors too however they have the chance to correct such errors before publishing such data instead such papers do see the light of the day, a lot is dependent on these scientific researchers then why is the data tampered and results are achieved per the own needs, a research shouldn’t driven as per the needs of an individual or for any sector [1]. It is based on any actual data which may eventually lead to saving lives or aiming for a better world or better resources or a better environment. Development Through the Life Stages Unit 4 P1 M1 D1 Health and Social Care Level 3

...Introduction In this essay I will be explaining the development throughout the life stages. This is including conception, pregnancy (1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters), birth and infancy (0-3years), childhood (4-9years), adolescence (10-18years), adulthood (19-65years), older adulthood (65+) and the final stages of life. This will include physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. I will further this by discussing nature versus nurture, and conclude by evaluating how this will affect the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. * Conception Each month a group of eggs in the ovaries grow in small sacks named follicles. Eventually one of these eggs leaves, this is ovulation. This typically takes places 2 weeks before the next period is due. Once the egg leaves the follicle it develops into the corpus luteum, releasing a hormone to thicken the uterus lining, preparing for the egg. Once released the egg travels to the fallopian tube, where it remains for 24hrs waiting for sperm to fertilize it. This takes around 2 weeks after the period. If there is no sperm to fertilize the egg, it travels through the uterus and falls apart. The hormone levels return to normal, and the uterus sheds the lining, starting the period. If a sperm does make its way into the egg, it fertilizes, no other sperm will be able to access the egg. As soon as fertilization happens the babies genes and sex are set. (Y chromosome being male, X chromosome being female). The egg remains in the...

Genetic Engineering

...Human Genetic Engineering: The Future of Mankind Human genetic engineering has been a controversial topic with religious leaders since before they even knew what it was. Right off the bat the majority of people are skeptical about this touchy topic just because of the way it sounds, and of course once they hear what it’s all about, they either become even more hesitant to accept it, or reject the idea of it entirely. Some think that the process of human genetic engineering is a bad thing because technically it takes life. The argument is that even though life is being created through fertilization of an embryo, the life cannot feel or understand pain yet, making the process of genetic engineering justifiable. Also, study and research through genetic engineering will ultimately help those who can feel pain. This procedure will cure thousands, and thousands more will be healthier and better off because of the advances we will make. Human genetic engineering is the process of genetically engineering people by modifying or changing their genotypes before they are born. A genotype is a genetic institution of an individual with respect to a particular characteristic; for example eye or hair color. So if a person’s genotype told you they have blue eyes, you could modify that genotype to make it so they would have green eyes. The cells in a person’s body contain encoded information about the body’s growth, structure, and functioning in the form of genes. Human genetic engineering...
