Before you proceed, the faucet handles will need to be removed. Begin by prying off the handle inserts (plastic coverings) with a pocket knife or similar gadget. 4. Removing the inserts will reveal screws in the handles. Remove them with a screwdriver. 5. Disconnect the handles from the stems. If they are stuck together due to corrosion, try using a handle puller (a tool created for this very task). If the handle puller does not do the trick, you may need to call a plumber. 6. Once the handles are disconnected, the next step is to replace the washer.
