Project planning in teams is an essential part of team dynamics. At the University of Phoenix on line collage the students are placed in groups of three to six members. After being placed in these groups team members are required to fill out a team charter.
Team chartering is the procedure by which a team meets at the beginning of its process (in this case, a University of Phoenix course) to describe its mission or task, set its goals, secure commitment by members to the achievement of those goals, make its plans, and allocate its resources. It is a competency that is as important to ensuring the success of workplace teams as it is for your University of Phoenix Learning Team. By learning this valuable skill, you [SIC] greatly increase the likelihood that your team will reach its objectives in an effective and an efficient manner (University of Phoenix, 2002).
After team members finish there team charter they are put to work planning there project. Most of the time, the project that the team will be working on is laid out. This is so the team knows what they are writing about. The team then divides the work up it to sections so that everyone in the team has some responsibility. Even though project planning in teams students have different opinion , project planning in teams is an essential part of team dynamics because teams are able to split the work up into sections so that one person does not do the whole paper and teams are able to work together to form a stronger

Impact of Complexity and Uncertainty on Project Planning Process

...Uncertainty on Project Planning Process Project across most industries face huge uncertainty as regard to complex, ambiguous and dynamic environment (external environment) which can have impact on the project planning process. Similarly, projects are becoming larger and more ambiguous which make the execution and realisation of project complexity to be on the increase therefore increase our internal complexity. Project Management

...Project Management Jo Anne Bishop Ashford University Project Planning and Management BUS611 Dr. Caroline Howard October 14, 2012 Project Management Effective project management is crucial to the success of any project regardless of the size or complexity. Project management experts Karen Tate and Paula Martin said, “Trying to manage a project without project management is like trying to play football without a game plan” (Martin & Tate, 2001, pg 9). Project managers have a difficult job. Their jobs are often times made more difficult by the dynamic environment in which they must work. Project managers must take a project through the entire project management life-cycle, from an idea to a fully developed deliverable. While the job is difficult, there are many tools and processes that have been developed to assist in project management. While they are responsible for the leadership of the project, they have many, such as the project sponsor and project team members, who are there to assist them in ensuring the job gets done. In addition to the personnel who will help him, there are many different project management tools as well. Project scope, work breakdown structures, contingency plans and project management software are all tools that, if used properly, can ensure that a project can be completed within time and budget. Project management is not an easy job but if a project manager understands his project and his roles and responsibilities along with the...

Project Success

...1. Project success is determined by a set of various conditions including proper planning, and execution of the project. Usually project’s success is determined by the SMART criteria which stand for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely. In other words for the project to become a success, it has to be well defined, with set deadlines, and done by people who can actually get the job done (achievable). Whenever the project does not meet the SMART criteria, there is a great chance that the project will be of no use to the company that initiates it. The reason why a large number of projects fail to meet their stated objectives, i.e. schedule, cost, scope and performance objectives is because it is rather hard for the project managers to precisely predict the future to which a given project relates. Although, everyone understands that project should meet the SMART criteria, in practice it is rather hard to achieve especially when the corporate resources are scarce (Martin, 232). 2. Effective project manager possesses the attributes applicable to a regular manager (ability to plan, organize, direct and control) as well as specific knowledge/skills related to the projects of a certain industry. The project manager must be able to define the project well and have enough skills to motivate the employees to commit to the project and get it done. 3. There exist a difference between management and leadership. Leadership is the ability to organize and lead people,...

Positive Influance Plan

... Positive Influence Plan Different personalities of team members influence team dynamics and performance. A working knowledge of how these factors can influence a team’s performance is an immense asset for managers and team leaders to understand. This plan of positive influence emphasizes the prospect of increasing team performance by means of identifying how these factors are associated with individual personal attitudes, emotions, and values. Assignment 2 Project Motorcycle

...Assignment #2: “Project Motorcycles” Jesse Fontanez BUS 375 – Project Management Professor Lodge November 2, 2014 New, Improved, Faster, Motorcycle Project Plan The implementation stages of motorcycles larger than 1100 cc project is a true display of the defining moments that make a project a success or a failure. The implementation stage is defined as "motorcycle modifications being installed and made operational in a production environment. The phase is initiated after the motorcycles has been tested and accepted. This phase continues until the system is operating in production in accordance with the defined motorcycle requirements”. While all of the planning that takes place in preparation of the implementation phase is critical, I am of the opinion that the implementation itself is equally as important. When working through the process of defining the motorcycle and selecting the organizational personnel to create this motorcycle systems, the beginning stages become the most important part of the motorcycle project for this organization. A tremendous effort has to be exuded in planning and preparation for the motorcycle development and deployment. The start of the motorcycle implementation phase is indication that progress was being made and the motorcycles are well underway. Before analyzing the process of project planning in teams it is necessary to identify the differences between such terms as a group of people and a team. A group...
