Abstract The focus of this paper is on the topic of team leadership. Team leadership is a successful leadership style to use in any organization to be more focused and accomplish more. The next few pages addresses several attributes that can make this style of leadership successful or unsuccessful.

Leadership is an important topic in todays world as many search to follow a great leader, we study to be great leaders and many strive to write what defines a great leader. The book stores are always filled with current leadership books and just one search on the internet you will find hundreds of opinions on current leadership strategies and styles. What does leadership need to look like in 2012? Leadership is going to have to be bigger than one person. “Scholars suggested that the shared leadership approach potentially provides a more suitable solution to team management than the classical, hierarchical, or vertical leadership, as represented by the solo leader approach” (Day et al., 2006; Gronn, 2000, 2002; Hoch, 2007). The definition of team leadership does not need to get lost some complex translation. Team leadership can be seen simply on the basketball court. On the court you can see 5 different size men, different talents, different abilities but all are focused on one thing. Each player is contributing their part in different ways. At the end of the game their are different stats for different players but there is a team score. That score defines if the team was successful in working together for the goal.
