Technology is the need of the day. The technological advancements have made society take a leap towards success. Every technological reform is a small step towards advancement. Therefore, the central thesis of this presentation is to state four modern technologies and explain how they can be useful in school management. It will commence by defining the key concepts which are technology and school management. Thereafter the main body will follow after which a comprehensive conclusion based on the main body will be drawn.
Technology may be defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science .
Management is the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals, working together in groups, efficiently accomplish selected aims . School management may therefore be defined as the process of designing and maintaining a school environment in which individuals, working together in groups or students in a school setting efficiently accomplish selected aims (Ibid). It refers to the development of bureaucracy that derives its importance from the need for strategic planning, co-ordination, directing and controlling of large and complex decision-making process. Essentially, therefore, school management entails the acquisition of managerial competence, and effectiveness in the following key areas: problem solving, administration, human resource management, and organizational leadership .

In the current age we live in, technology has become an important component. Every day there is some new gadget or software that makes lives easier and improves on the technology and software that already exists. Different modern technologies are employed in school management.

The organization recently launched a new quarterly professional journals; • Enterprise & Society • Economic and Business Historical Society. Vision with action can change the world!”  I have always been fascinated by the application of technology for the betterment of our lives. Shaping it into a reality requires skills and combined knowledge of engineering as well as management. Hence I believe that technology in combination with management is what it takes for a vision to excel. I believe engineering management will define a way to my dreams and goal of a career of being an entrepreneur in the field of technology back in my country where the use of technology for betterment is not at its maximum.  Surrounding of a child plays a very important role in carving the interest of a child. In my early school days I used to listen to audio cassettes played in a stereo tape recorder. Having understood the difference between Mono & Stereo recording, I tried my hands on converting two cassettes of Stereo recordings into one cassette of Mono recording by using LEFT & RIGHT channels as a separate channel. Various such experiments in my childhood inclined me towards technical things. Consistent good scores in science and mathematics along with the curious and analytical aptitude, I chose science as my higher school studies. The reason for opting electronics and telecommunication as undergraduate studies is its vast interdisciplinary course outline. Resistance to Change, Annotated Bib

...Resistance to Change John Caudill Webster University MNGT 5590 Dr. Kevin Henson Abstract The topic I researched was organizational change. My search criteria were limited to ABI/Inform, for peer-reviewed, full text documents, and scholarly journals. I didn’t have a specific time frame. However, most of the articles are within the last 5 years. Some of the search keywords used was organizational change, organizational behavior, and resistance to change. The results of the article analysis found that organizational change is a very complex process. Leaders, managers, change managers and employees have a lot of factors to consider and find solutions for in order for a change to be successful. Some of the common reasons that caused changes to fail are; employee’s attitudes, lack of employee empowerment, forcing employees to change the status quo, employees felt threatened by the change, perceived loss of jobs, new boss, new responsibilities, employees don’t understand the intent of the change, change doesn’t make sense, past experiences and group dynamics play a part. Resistance can be overt or covert. The differences in value congruence and organizational culture of small working groups, the individual and the organization as a whole must also be considered. In order for the change to be a success the leaders must study, analyze, and develop the plan around these conditions. The plan has to be well thought out, the intent and goals understood by the employees...

Introduction Management theories have evolved over a number of centuries. According to (Koontz and Weihrich 1990, p 4), management is the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals, working together in groups, efficiently accomplish selected aims. Theories are perspectives with which people make sense of their world experiences (Stoner et.al 1995, p 31-32). Theory is a systematic grouping of interdependent concepts and principles that give a significant area of knowledge. Theory is in its lowest form a classification, a set of pigeon holes, a filing cabinet in which fact can accumulate. Nothing is more lost than a loose fact, (Homans 1958, p 5). Management theories are the set of general rules that guide the managers to manage an organization. Management theories are implemented to help increase...

...picture; it is data with relevance and purpose. It may convey a trend in the environment, or perhaps indicate a pattern of sales for a given period of time. Data, information and knowledge can all be viewed as assets of organizations. Many organizations realize they own a huge amount of knowledge and that this knowledge needs to be managed in order to be useful. There are two types of knowledge: namely explicit and tacit knowledge (Nonaka & Takeuchi, 1995). Tacit knowledge was originally defined by Polanyi in 1966. It is sometimes referred to as know-how (Brown & Duguid, 1998) and refers to intuitive, hard to define knowledge that is largely experience based. Tacit knowledge tends to reside within the head of the knowers, whereas explicit knowledge is formalized and codified, and is sometimes referred to as know-what (Brown & Duguid, 1998). It is therefore fairly easy to identify, store and retrieve (Wellman 2009). This type of knowledge most easily handled by Knowledge Management System, which are very effective at facilitating the storage, retrieval, and modification of documents and texts. Knowledge management develops system and processes to acquire and...

Classical School of Management

... 400 COURSE TITLE: MANAGEMENT THEORY COURSE CODE: BUS 413 ASSIGNMENT: Write about the Classical school of thought in Management in 2 pages. DATE: 26th of March 2014. CLASSICAL SCHOOL OF THOUGHT IN MANAGEMENT The classical school is the oldest formal school of management thought. Its roots predate the twentieth century. The classical school of thought generally concerns ways to manage work and organisations efficiently. Three areas of study that can be grouped under the classical school are scientific management, administrative management and bureaucratic management. The classical school (of management) has sought to define the essence of management in the form of universal fundamental functions. These, it was hoped, would form the cognitive basis for a set of relevant skills to be acquired, by all would-be managers through formal education. The classical school’s management thought was based on the belief that employees have only economical and physical needs, and that social needs and need for job satisfaction either don’t exist or are unimportant. Accordingly, this school advocates high specialization of labour, centralized decision-making and profit maximization. Weaknesses of the Classical Management Theories. Classical theories and the...
