OLS is not available, but I wanted to send you some feedback and will post your grade at a later time. This will include your APA, paper formatting, and the rest of the content. The assignment is well written, and I want to tell you that you really did not put it in a context that would help you in your Week 5 assignment. I will also cut and paste this exact same message in your OLS and feedback when it is available. What I mean by that is the fact you did not really show me you work in an enviornment that utilizes IT, you have experience working with informatics, and you may not be as strong in information techology. This is part of the evolution in Healthcare in the next 3 - 5 years. My comments are straightforward because you will not do well in Week 5 if you continue on the same path. You are effective in research, but not effective in really integrating your experience as a nurse with your experience working with information technology. Technology Decision Making Paper

...Technology and Decision-Making Paper Allie Timbo Health Care Informatics HCS482 November 8, 2010 Richard Ong, MBA, FACHE Technology and Decision-Making Paper More than ever before, information technology is helping clinicians and health care systems improve the collection and management of data along with the ability to aid in decision–making for clinical and business issues. Information technology has led to significant improvements in quality of care, patient safety, and communication between clinicians. The key to information technology and decision-making is to develop relationships between information technology and the users to make effective decisions. Systems that support decision-making assist the user’s ability to make short and long-term decisions by providing information to make decisions concerning particular situations. Health care informatics “incorporates theories from information, science, computer science, and cognitive sciences” (Englebardt & Nelson, 2002, p. 5). Health care informatics specialists use theories, and the Data, Information, and Knowledge (DIK) Model to guide their practice, which in turn supports clinical practice and optimizes health care delivery. Systems and Informatics Theories Theories are useful in several ways. Theories form a reference point for information technology and users. Without theories users would spend time condensing information and data from empirical sources. According to John Holmes, chairperson of the American...

To provide context for the analysis, a history of DSS is presented which focuses on the evolution of a number of sub-groupings of research and practice: personal DSS, group support systems, negotiation support systems, intelligent DSS, knowledge management-based DSS, executive information systems/business intelligence, and data warehousing. To understand the state of DSS research an empirical investigation of published DSS research is presented. This investigation is based on the detailed analysis of 1,020 DSS articles published in 14 major journals from 1990 to 2003. The analysis found that DSS publication has been falling steadily since its peak in 1994 and the current publication rate is at early 1990s levels. Other findings include that personal DSS and group support systems dominate research activity and data warehousing is the least published type of DSS...

R&D Project Selection Using the Ahp

...Laura M. Meade and Adrien Presley Abstract—The analytic network process (ANP) is presented as a potentially valuable method to support the selection of projects in a research and development (R&D) environment. This paper first discusses the requirements of the R&D project selection problem, which requires the allocation of resources to a set of competing and often disparate project proposals. Among the factors complicating this task is the need to make the decision within the framework of an enterprise’s strategic objectives and organizational structure while considering and integrating financial and strategic benefits of each project. The paper discusses the use of the ANP, a general form of Saaty’s analytic hierarchy process, as a model to evaluate the value of competing R&D project proposals. A generic ANP model developed by the authors, which includes in its decision levels the actors involved in the decision, the stages of research, categories of metrics, and individual metrics, is presented. The paper concludes with a case study describing the implementation of this model at a small high-tech company, including data based on the actual use of the decision making model. Index Terms—Analytic hierarchy process, analytic network process, multicriteria decision making, project selection, R&D management, R&D projects. I. INTRODUCTION OR MANY firms, especially those that depend on innovation to stay in business, the key to continued competitiveness lies in their ability to develop...

Bigdata

...BIG DATA - THE MANAGEMENT REVOLUTION Summary The general theme of the article is to proof how data-driven decisions are better for businesses as data enables the managers to base their decision on evidence rather than intuition. The idea behind big data is to collect all kinds of data from various sources and to effectively utilize this data to improve the financial and operational aspects of the business. Companies that operate on digital platforms like Amazon are already experts at big data and are using the predictions based on data in a deft manner. The practice of big data should not be confined to companies that operate digitally but should be implied by other businesses as well, as big data is a revolutionary practice that provides data in larger volumes with higher velocity with which data is complied and entailed and the variety in which data is available. Furthermore, modifying a company to be data-driven is not only technologically challenging but poses a copious amount of managerial challenges as well. The decision is usually based on the senior manager who has to know how to answer questions and how to embrace evidence based decision. For a company to re-organize itself to become data-driven, the manager should concentrate on improvising five areas that include, leadership, talent management, technology, decision making and company culture. The author cities instances of big data using examples of airports where PASSUR Aerospace provided a service called...

...society and life expectancy rising there is great need for the integration of health enabling technologies into health information systems. The use of health enabling technologies is thought to help in the mission of improving the need for care and quality through the enhancement of sensor-enhanced health information systems. The greatest areas of importance for health enabling technologies are data security, patient centered care, diagnostic analysis, and system connectivity standards which will help focus on improving care, quality, and disease research. The transition from a system that is institutional focused to patient focus will not be immediate, for health enabling technologies is still fairly new and growing so it will be a slow process before patients and organizations reap the benefits of this new technology. Creating self-sufficiency is an important capability for patients and care givers especially for those living with chronic illnesses. Health enabling technologies will aid in managing illnesses through relevant information and communication, which is key for individuals to actively participate and have some control over their healthcare needs. The health enabling technology of sensor-enhanced health information systems will, in hopes, allow a patient to review and make decisions from the privacy of their homes through the access of health records, decision support from providers, access to relevant information, and ease for system users. Analysis

...Solomon is an analysis of Russell Belk’s seminal paper on the extended self, particularly focusing on how the virtual world has affected the self of the consumers. The authors did not conduct any experiments or studies themselves, thus most of the paper is based of external research that adheres to the main subject. The authors found that three boundaries that used to exist in Belk’s paper have fused over the years with the advancement of networking technologies. They claim that there is no more boundary between the producer and the consumer that existed before, and that the consumer is more active in the decision making of the producer. Another view of the authors is that there is no more distinction between an online and an offline self, since people tend to exhibit the same social behavior in both worlds, as well as trying to unite the two worlds either through cosplaying or through virtual reality technologies. Lastly, as medical technology advances, more and more people undergo modifications of their bodies. The numerous surgeries that can replace missing limbs with robotic ones shatters the boundary that once existed between technology and body. Through all these changes, the modern consumer takes an active role in the creation of the product or service, and demands greater personalization than before. It has become far easier for the consumer to compare his or her choices and thus it affected their decision making. Lastly, since the consumers tend to share their...
