The article,"Teens are in no rush to drive” by Donna St. George, explains how teenagers are not as eager to drive as much as in the past because of new technologies allowing for easier interactions among friends and the higher requirements needed to obtain a driver’s license. According to Federal data, a smaller proportion of 16-year-olds were getting their driver’s licenses in 2008 compared to 16-year-olds in 1988 (George 2). Social media, such as Facebook and other forms of digital communication allow for teenagers to interact with their friends without having to meet them in person; therefore, teenagers in today’s digital age no longer feel the need to obtain a driver’s license (George 4). Marriage and Guidance Counselling Mgg 201

...Marriage Guidance – Summary MGG201W MGG201W – Marriage Guidance – facilitative couples counselling Theme ONE – Understanding couples Intimacy involves: love, affection and caring, deep attachment to another person. The TRIPOD of couple relationships An intimate relationship consists of three factors that form a tripod on which the relationship rests. 1. Passionate attraction (PA) 2. Mutual expectations (ME) 3. Personal intentions (PI) Passionate attractions (PA) → Individual experiences intensely pleasurable sensations when thinking about or being with a new partner. → Blushing, trembling, breathlessness, high sexual desire → Referred to as infatuation = passing love “a foolish and unreasoning love’ → Infatuation is not a realistic / accurate appraisal of the relationship / idealisation → Negative / flaws in the idealised beloved may be intellectually recognised, but disregarded as endearingly special. Person chooses to ignore the negatives → Normal phase in the process of relationships → Infatuation can lead to a lasting relationship – but it mostly fades away and relationship based on infatuation alone will fail. Love → Involves physical attraction - deeper → Love encompasses PA, ME and PI → People rely mostly on life experiences to guide them to their own unique way of demonstrating love. → Eric Fromm “love is active concern for the life and growth of the person we love” → Love is deep, unselfish, caring, deep respect Hauck’s basic principles about love • It is not just...

The zip code community of 53218 is no exception. Some of those positive features of the 53218 community has prospective features such as its existing available clinics, multipurpose community centers, such as the Silver Spring Community Center, and numerous outreach programs through organizations including Growing Power and the Milwaukee Outreach Center. Unfortunately, it is still considered one of ten zip codes in the Milwaukee County designated in the “lower socioeconomic status” group as reported in the Milwaukee Health Report (Chen, et al., 2011). The lower SES group, including 53218, as a whole is at risk for (1) a growing rate of obesity related to a poor nutritional lifestyle, (2) a continually decreasing gynecological health among the female population between ages 12 and 19 related to a lack of enforced education and rising teen pregnancy-related issues, and (3) a consistently low level of neighborhood safety related to motor vehicle accidents and rising crime rates. Community Strengths The community of 53218 has three main areas of strength: (1) several available clinics, (2) an abundance...

Executive Summary Why have three decades of intensive national effort to reduce teen pregnancy not been more successful? Largely because for three decades, we have framed the problem falsely. What we have called our “teen pregnancy” crisis is not really about teenagers. Nor is it really about pregnancy. It is about the decline of marriage. What has changed most in recent decades is not who gets pregnant, but who gets married. Demographically, our “teen pregnancy” problem is inseparable from the disconnect between marriage and childbearing that increasingly...

It covers these topics: • Choosing Safety First • Driver Factors • Everyday Driving Skills • Special Circumstances and Emergencies CHOOSING SAFETY FIRST You have important choices to make – sometimes even before you start your vehicle – that will affect your safety when you are behind the wheel. Begin by making sure you and your vehicle are “fit to drive.” VEHICLE CHECKS: PREPARING TO DRIVE 1. Adjust the driver’s seat – You must be able to easily reach the pedals and other controls and have a clear view out the windshield. Your owner’s manual provides information about how to adjust your vehicle’s equipment. 2. Fasten your seat belt – Fasten both your lap and shoulder belts on every trip. Pay attention to the information about Pennsylvania’s seat belt law, child restraint law and airbag safety information found in Chapter 5. WEARING YOUR SEAT BELT is the single most effective thing you can do to reduce the risk of death or injury! DID YOU KNOW? In 2011, 78 percent of people involved in crashes in Pennsylvania were wearing seat belts. Drivers, ages 16 to 24, had the highest number of unbuckled injuries and fatalities of any age group and the lowest seat belt use. 3. Secure loose items in the passenger compartment – In a crash, loose items in your vehicle become projectiles that continue to travel the same speed your...
