The definition of peace is different for each and every individual. According to Johan Galtung, with the agreement of any other peace theorists, peace is not just the absence of war. Peace is obtained through justice in all forms. Peace is different for a country of great power to the developing countries, “’…peace to the people in developing countries means not only the absence of disorder and injustice from the society… but also nonintervention in domestic affairs by big powers and unhampered economic development’” (Diokno 6-7). The Philippines belongs to these developing countries, and a region in this country, Mindanao, has been on pursuit for lasting peace. This is the kind of peace the people in Mindanao called the Bangsamoro people, has been longing for.

The conflict in Mindanao between the Government and the Bangsamoro people is the second longest-running in the world. It started more than four hundred years ago during the Spanish occupation. It was then continued by the Americans when Mindanao was not granted independence (Diokno 4). Even after the entire Philippines was granted independence, there were still problems that generated conflict. It carried on over the years through different administrations, including the present one, and it has not yet been resolved. There are still many which seemed as endless counts of infringement of the Bangsamoro that could be heard over the news along with countless reports of hostilities.

It is important to identify the root of the conflict itself to know what solutions to the problem are necessary and which steps are needed to take. One of the problems common heard is the Mindanao’s pursuit for autonomy. Although autonomy has already been established by law and granted to the Bangsamoro (we now call the region Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao), some groups claim that the spirit of autonomy is not yet there

Temporary Foreign Workers

...Temporary foreign worker program – Tim Hortons Introduced in 2002 and modified in 2007, this program allows employers to hire employees in occupations that usually require at most a high school diploma or a maximum of 2 years of job specific training. Visas maybe issued for 24 months. Employers are required to cover recruitment and return airfare costs, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available, to provide medical coverage until the employee is covered under a provincial plan and to sign an employee/employer contract. The work permit is issued with reference to a specific employer. Employees generally work in sectors such as cleaning, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas and construction. (Elgersma, 2007) Tim Hortons "is a company that a lot of Canadians identify with and it is very proudly a Canadian brand," says Howard Ramos, an associate professor of sociology at Dalhousie University in Halifax. "But it's also a company that is a pioneer in hiring temporary foreign workers and so for this reason I think it's important to highlight Tim Hortons as an exemplar of how the temporary foreign worker program has changed and expanded. (Davison, 2012) The temporary foreign worker program has man is a resort companies use to hiring as they will have exhausted all other avenues for finding employees locally. It is a great program mainly for foreign workers who come and work in Canada and if they like it here they can apply for permanent residency. Unlike immigrants...

A Temporary Matter

...In the story, “A Temporary Matter”, Shoba, the wife, reveals to her husband, Shukumar, at the climax of the story that she was planning on moving out. The loss of their child is a key factor in this decision but it is no where near the only factor, and I argue that it is not the main one. One cause of the relationship deteriorating the way it did was the fact that Shukumar was missing in action through most of the day. Shoba and Shukumar had difficulty spending time together because he was always working and Shoba was always distant. While this did not in any way cause the death of the unborn child, Shukumar not being there during the birth was what I believe, a key factor in the decision that Shoba made to move on from the relationship. Despite Shoba letting Shukumar go on his business trip, I believe he should have stayed and help Shoba which is what most believe people in healthy relationships do. This was a bad move on Shukumar’s because it is eventually what caused Shoba’s mother and most readers to dislike the character. He was not there to console and comfort Shoba over the loss of their child. One of the other key factors that caused the relationship to crumble is that even after the death of their child, they both became isolated from the world and more importantly from each other. The lack of communication between both of them made it extremely difficult for the two to simply move on. I believe In order for a relationship to grow and work, there needs to be communication...

A Temporary Matter

...Ann, is struggling for inner satisfaction and happiness in her marriage. Her name is used only once in the literary work illustrating that she has very little individuality; she feels she is simply an extension of her husband, John. Her motivation is caused by her selfish attitude and propensity to focus on John's flaws; this derives from her desire for John to change. As a farmer's wife she feels an increasing isolation, especially during winter months with "the silence weighing upon her" (Ross 139) and "the clock [that] tick[s] on like a glib little idiot" (166). Ann's perception of John and her isolation motivates her decision to sleep with Steven. In the story “A Temporary Matter” we see a couple that has lost the spark in their relationship after Shoba gave birth to a still borne, ultimately leading to her ending the relationship with Shukumar. Both of these stories show how any relationship, if not kept healthy, honest, and maintained can lead to a lack of trust or in severe cases, a breakup. Both Shukumar and Waythorn experience a sense of isolation in their marriages, yet Shukumar is the character who has to endure more by the ending of the story, due to a broken heart, the dependence on his wife and the time he invested in their relationship. 1) What does the darkness symbolize for Shoba and Shukumar and how does it affect their relationship? For Shoba and Shukumar, the darkness represents an opportunity for them to reconnect and avoid the troubles and grief of the day...

Temporary Performance Management

At the moment, it is vitally important to make sure the client will have all deliverables by the agreed upon date. ...It is now time for my closing statements. As you already know my defendant is pleading for temporary insanity. Members of the jury I propose there where three factors that caused this temporary insanity. It was a combination of the socking news Mrs Maloney had herd; the hormones that heightened hormones Mrs Maloney had due to being pregnant. Finally the alcohol that Mrs Maloney consumed effected Mrs Maloney’s decision and thought making ability. I think everyone hates shocking news. This is very true for my defendant. My client, Mrs Maloney a sweet stay at home lady that took good care of her husband, heard news that no one should ever hear. Whilst being 6 months pregnant Mrs Maloney found out her husband of 5 years wanted a divorce, leaving her by herself as a single mother. This obviously shocked Mrs Maloney and people can do strange things while in shock. Some people go into shock and shut down, some go into a deep depression and some go temporarily insane and hit their husband with a giant piece if lamb. Mrs Maloney obviously went temporarily insane, being that she has no past criminal charges. The shocking news is one factor of the temporary insanity the next part is hormones. ...accomplish to meet organizational goals. Discussion question #1 page 205. An organization can temporarily increase the size of their workforce in a number of ways. The organization can outsource work or production to vendors which would increase their potential workforce by the use of outside labor resources. In this way, an organization can expand the quantity of products it is physically capable of producing. An organization can also outsource other tasks that may be unimportant or less technical such as janitorial work which would also temporarily increase their workforce.
