In this scenario I would tell her she did well, with plans to approach her later to discourage her from making a career of it. I arrived at this conclusion using the five P’s.
Purpose- The purpose or object I would be striving for, would be to tell my friend the truth but in a way that would not hurt her feelings. Telling her to keep her day job would be very harsh. Yet telling her that she sounded terrific would be a lie. That leaves the last option of telling her that is was pretty good and discourage her later from making a career of it. This would allow her to bask in the glory of her performance, while later telling her the truth.
Pride – This approach is one I can take pride in, it would be the best way to let my friend down easily. Telling her to keep her day job would be hurtful. Telling her that she sounded terrific would make her feel good, but I would lying to her. Trying to get out of it by giving her the Victor Borge line would also be hurtful.
Patience – Taking the time to think through the possible approaches would be the best way to tell my friend the truth, without ruining her night.
Persistence – This solution is the most fair and balanced, of all the possible solutions. This is the one I would follow through with.
Perspective – This solution is one that fits in with my ideals and beliefs. In the big picture telling her that she was pretty good, and later discouraging her from making a career of it, is the best solution. I would be able to tell her the truth without hurting her feelings in front of others.

Mintzberg 5 Ps of Strategy

...The Strategy Concept I: Five Ps for Strategy* Human nature insists on a definition for every concept. The field of strategic management cannot afford to rely on a single definition of strategy, indeed the word has long been used implicitly in different ways even if it has traditionally been defined formally in only one. Explicit recognition of multiple definitions can help practitioners and researchers alike to maneuver through this difficult field. Accordingly, this article presents five definitions of strategy-as plan, ploy, pattern, position, and perspective-and considers some of their interrelationships. To almost anyone you care to ask, strategy is a plan-some sort of consciously intended course of action, a guideline (or set of guidelines) to deal with a situation. A kid has a "strategy" to get over a fence, a corporation has one to capture a market. By this definition, strategies have two essential characteristics: they are made in advance of the actions to which they apply, and they are developed consciously and purposefully. (They may, in addition, be stated explicitly, sometimes in formal documents known as "plans," although it need not be taken here as a necessary condition for "strategy as plan.") To Drucker, strategy is "purposeful action"', to Moore "design for action," in essence, "conception preceding actionn2 A host of definitions in a variety of fields reinforce this view. For example: in the military: Strategy is concerned with "draft[ing] the plan of war...

Mechanical Properties of Ps Injected Parts Under Surface-Active Substances

...Mechanical properties of PS injected parts under surface-active substances Journal: Manuscript ID: Division or Special Interest Group: Presentation Preference: Paper Type: Date Submitted by the Author: Complete List of Authors: Page 1 of 5 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF PS INJECTED PARTS UNDER SURFACEACTIVE SUBSTANCES (1) The main objective of this work was to develop the influence of surface-active substances in the mechanical properties of injected plastic parts in presence of cracks, a tension test and a constant load. The material used was Polystyrene and the surface-active substances were olive oil and corporal sweat. This study was conducted because it was observed that the surface-active substances affects the mechanical properties of the resin as well as the presence of cracks, and actually is not reported any methodology for conducting this study. Experimental Part For this study, there were injected 110.5*85.5*1 mm plates in a REED-Prentice 100 TE (Clamp Force = 100 ton) injection machine with an injection mold with two similar cavities, but with a different located entrance. The used material was a Polystyrene PS-2820 from Estirenos del Zulia (Table 1). In table 2 are showed the used optimal process conditions. Notches were mechanized in each plate with a saw. The normalized tensile test specimens were cut with a milling machine. It was used a Galdabini 2500 universal test machine to make mechanical tests, and a Starrett Sigma VB300 stereoscopic magnifying...

The purposes of the meeting are to elect directors for the ensuing year, ratify the appointment of auditors for 2015, to approve, in a non-binding advisory vote, the compensation of the Company’s named executive officers and conduct other business that may properly come before the meeting. Net sales for the year ended December 31, 2014 were $1.167 billion, while net income for the year was $37.1 million, with fully diluted net earnings per common share of $1.78. Unit volume, measured in copper pounds contained in the wire sold increased 3.6% in 2014 versus 2013. Our new aluminum building wire plant finished its second full year of operations, during which we sold $103.4 million of aluminum building wire. We believe that our ability to sell aluminum wire has resulted in increased copper wire sales as customers prefer to “one-stop shop” and order enough pounds to get free freight. Aluminum demand is so strong that we are expanding the current 200,000 square foot aluminum plant with a 250,000 square foot addition. We believe that our costs are as low, or lower, than our competitors. We believe our superior order fill rates continue to enhance our competitive position, as our electrical ...
