The Ad Campaign: Teen Bullying Prevention

Submitted By

Teen Bullying Prevention The Ad campaign is about shedding light on teen bullying and ways to prevent it. The campaign ad indicates that about ninety percent of teens get bullied at least once in their lifetime. In the campaign video, a bunch of celebrities read mean comments that they have received and at the end conclude that it is not okay for someone to bully another person and that it has to come to an end. The sad and somber music in the background does an amazing job of making the viewer feel what the victim of bullying may be feeling. Despite bullying's overwhelming toll on a person's mental health and how bullying may affect how one may perceive oneself. Taking a stand against bullying is something that needs to be done …show more content…
It kind of took forever to explain what the campaign was really about. It reused already mentioned problems many times. I think if they had made a thirty second video it would have been a lot more effective. Also I don’t think people have the time to go through and watch a almost three minute video, when they could’ve gotten the point across in a much shorter video. Although thirty seconds is really hard and difficult to tell a story, creatively though it could have been really easy to come up with a plot, they could have figured something out. Especially with the average human attention span being eight seconds (Google). So a three minute video is kind of a drag in terms of “will it get across completely to the …show more content…
It got the point across and made you think and feel. The ad made me want to take a stand on bullying and to actually join the fight, to become “a witness”. If I were the target audience for this advertisement I would find this ad very convincing because it showed true emotion. I felt as if I was bullied and watched this video I would definitely stand up for myself and not allow myself to be bullied. Also the use of celebrities in their advertisement was a smart idea, because of the youtubers large following, the ad would then attract more people and make more kids take a stand because the person they “admire” is telling them to. So for example if a bully watched this ad and saw his favorite youtuber get affected by bullying maybe he'll stop bullying because he's seen how it has affected his favorite youtuber. Vice versa, if a kid sees his favorite youtuber get affected by bullying and taking a stand maybe they'll take a stand as

Teen Dating Violence

...What is Teen Dating Violence? Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported experiencing TDV between the ages of 11-17 (CDC, 2014). Also, black students experience TDV (14%) at a significantly higher rate than their white peers (8.9%) (Rothman, 2013). TDV is a very important issue to address because as teens mature mentally and emotionally, they are heavily influenced by previous relational experiences. If they do not cultivate positive, healthy relationships, TDV can be a dangerous precursor to experiencing IPV as adults. Victims of TDV are more likely to do poorly in school, binge drink, commit suicide, and engage in physical altercations (CDC, 2014). There are several risk factors involved with TDV. There is an increased risk for toxic relationships for teens who believe that physical violence is a constructive way to express anger in a relationship, use alcohol or drugs, have violent friends, have multiple sex partners, are depressed or anxious...

Obesity Marketing Campaign

...marketing campaign; people who may have only slightly let themselves go recently are easy targets for behaviour change. Understanding that everyone has their own reasons for their behaviour is the key to changing it (Strand, 2008). Catching people in a transitional point in their lives can make it much easier to effect change in behaviour. For example a person who has had a rough few months at work, started eating poorly and stopped exercising will be more likely to notice and respond quickly to a social marketing campaign like measure up as they still have some link to their healthy behaviour. This makes it easier to effect change as these people still have a predisposition to act healthy, although not the target audience overall this group is easily effected by such a campaign and would help prevent them from falling deeper into negative behaviours leading to future health issues such as obesity. It is mostly about appealing to peoples values. Those who have strong egoistic values are the easiest to facilitate change in behaviour, these people are motivated to remove harm and suffering from oneself and will be more likely to behave a certain way if the results serve their needs (Paul C. Stern, 2000). Targeting a message that outlines self-harm and gives suggestions on ways to remove said harm will be very successful as majority of people have some form of egoistic values. These values can be reached by providing a level of education within a social marketing campaign, education...

...Bullying November 17, 2017 DACC What is bullying? Before getting into the various definitions that describe different types of bullies, it is essential to understand the basic definition of what is bullying. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, bullying is defined as “to treat abusively” or “to affect by means of force or coercion.” When you look deeper into the meaning of bullying, you will see that these definitions shine through in the meaning of all these types, giving them a common thread that ties them together. In no sense of the word is bullying ever an appropriate behavior, whether among children or adults. There are still people who think that bullies only hurt others physically, this is not true. As a matter of fact there are several types of bullying that i will be discussing with you shortly. The most common type of bullying is physical bullying. Physical bullying can be anything from hitting, pushing, kicking, spitting, and even stealing. Most of this type of bullying occurs in and around schools. Physical bullying is a serious problem, affecting not only the bully and the victim, but also the other students who witness the bullying. Parents, teachers, and other concerned adults and young people should be aware of what physical bullying is and some of the ways to handle it. Physical bullying can start at any age, although it is most common around the middle school age. Males are more likely to be involved with bullying than girls. However, girls can...

Bullying

...Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively impose domination over others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets. Justifications and rationalizations for such behavior sometimes include differences of class, race, religion, gender, sexuality, appearance, behavior, strength, size or ability. If bullying is done by a group, it is called mobbing. "Targets" of bullying are also sometimes referred to as "victims" of bullying. Bullying can be defined in many different ways. The UK currently has no legal definition of bullying, while some U.S. states, including Oklahoma have laws against it. Bullying consists of four basic types of abuse - emotional, verbal, physical, and cyber. It typically involves subtle methods of coercion such as intimidation. Bullying has become such a problem in many places. How can we solve this problem? Bullying ranges from simple one-on-one bullying to more complex bullying in which the bully may have one or more "lieutenants" who may seem to be willing to assist the primary bully in his or her bullying activities. Bullying in school and the workplace is also referred to as peer abuse. Robert W. Fuller has analyzed...

Mister

...Barack Obama Copyright Prologue IT’S BEEN ALMOST ten years since I first ran for political office. I was thirty-five at the time, four years out of law school, recently married, and generally impatient with life. A seat in the Illinois legislature had opened up, and several friends suggested that I run, thinking that my work as a civil rights lawyer, and contacts from my days as a community organizer, would make me a viable candidate. After discussing it with my wife, I entered the race and proceeded to do what every first-time candidate does: I talked to anyone who would listen. I went to block club meetings and church socials, beauty shops and barbershops. If two guys were standing on a corner, I would cross the street to hand them campaign literature. And everywhere I went, I’d get some version of the same two questions. “Where’d you get that funny name?” And then: “You seem like a nice enough guy. Why do you want to go into something dirty and nasty like politics?” I was familiar with the question, a variant on the questions asked of me years earlier, when I’d first arrived in Chicago to work in low-income neighborhoods. It signaled a cynicism not simply with politics but with the very notion of a public life, a cynicism that—at least in the South Side neighborhoods I sought to represent—had been nourished by a generation of broken promises. In response, I would usually smile and nod and say that I understood the skepticism, but that there was—and always had been—another...

Living History

...___________________________ LIVING HISTORY Hillary Rodham Clinton Simon & Schuster New York • London • Toronto • Sydney • Singapore To my parents, my husband, my daughter and all the good souls around the world whose inspiration, prayers, support and love blessed my heart and sustained me in the years of living history. AUTHOR’S NOTE In 1959, I wrote my autobiography for an assignment in sixth grade. In twenty-nine pages, most half-filled with earnest scrawl, I described my parents, brothers, pets, house, hobbies, school, sports and plans for the future. Forty-two years later, I began writing another memoir, this one about the eight years I spent in the White House living history with Bill Clinton. I quickly realized that I couldn’t explain my life as First Lady without going back to the beginning―how I became the woman I was that first day I walked into the White House on January 20, 1993, to take on a new role and experiences that would test and transform me in unexpected ways. By the time I crossed the threshold of the White House, I had been shaped by my family upbringing, education, religious faith and all that I had learned before―as the daughter of a staunch conservative father and a more liberal mother, a student activist, an advocate for children, a lawyer, Bill’s wife and Chelsea’s mom. For each chapter, there were more ideas I wanted to discuss than space allowed; more people to include than could be named; more places visited than could be described...

...U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation 2012 The Strategic Information and Operations Center at FBI Headquarters is the 24/7 command post that monitors FBI operations and law enforcement activities around the globe. An FBI agent examines a potentially contaminated letter during a white powder training exercise. 2012 The FBI Story I A Message from FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III For the FBI and its partners, 2012 was a year that reminded us once again of the seriousness of the security threats facing our nation. During the year, extremists plotted to attack—unsuccessfully, thanks to the work of our Joint Terrorism Task Forces—the U.S. Capitol, the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and other landmarks on U.S. soil. Tragically, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11, a hateful attack in Benghazi took the lives of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. In the cyber realm, a rising tide of hackers took electronic aim at global cyber infrastructure, causing untold damages. High-dollar white-collar crimes of all kinds also continued to siphon significant sums from the pocketbooks of consumers. And in Newtown, Connecticut, 20 young children and six adults lost their lives in one of the worst mass shootings in American history, ending a year of violence that saw similar tragedies around the country. Working with its colleagues around the globe, the FBI is committed to taking a leadership role in protecting the nation. As you can see from...
