How Did Jimi Hendrix Influence The Development Of Electric Guitar

...(Heck). Structurally influenced by the lute, the first guitar was rudimentary compared to what would follow. As is the case with any development, the invention of the modern day electric guitar took time. In the 19th century, steel strings were introduced and contributed greater volume. During the 1920s, big band music and commercial radio demanded the expansion of sound. In order to keep up with rapid innovation, guitars makers began the quest for guitar amplification. Around 1931, George Beauchamp and Adolf Rickenbacker successfully invented the first electromagnetic pickup (Smith). Musicians quickly realized that the common hollow-body wooden guitar produced too much distortion and feedback when paired with a pickup. This discovery resulted in the exploration of solid guitar bodies and foreshadowed to the invention of the electric guitar. Around 1940, guitarist and inventor Les Paul mounted strings and pickups on a solid block of pine and dubbed his creation, “the Log” (Smithsonian). This became the first prototype for a solid body, electric guitar. As skilled musicians, such as Muddy Waters, began exploring the tonal and harmonic possibilities of this new instrument, it took over numerous different music styles over the course of several decades. In light of the perpetual evolution of human expression, the electric guitar has greatly influenced the progression of music from jazz, to blues, and ultimately rock and roll. Even before the electric guitar could make an impact...

Kudler Fine Foods Website Recommendation

...Kudler Fine Foods Web Site Recommendations Keith Urban, Troy Good, Tina Cox, Sara Jones University of Phoenix WEB/410 November 20, 2006 The design of a web site is the combination of graphical art design and the logical flow of the information the web site will provide. This can be seen in many web sites that have high quality photos and graphics and easy to use menu structures. The photos and graphics are designed to appeal to the target viewer and the menu structure makes the viewer want to return to the site or stay on the site longer. When the graphics on a web site are plan and ordinary or the menu structure is difficult to follow then the person viewing the site losses interest quickly and has little reason to want to return to the web site. Kudler Fine Foods has asked LINC (Logistical Information Networking Consultants) to prepare a report of some recommended changes to their web site. Kudler is looking for ways to increase the number of people visiting their site as well as making it more appealing for visitors to return to the site to learn about new products and recipes. Kudler also wants the new web site to be easy to maintain and offer many new features that some of their competitors already have. This report will first review Kudler Fine Food’s current web site and compare it to what other companies have now. The report will then discuss some recommendations of how to improve Kudler’s current site. The report will explain some of the maintenance...

Visit a Cultrulal Event

...For the assignment I decided to visit the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. My trip to the Museum took place on a Cool September day, the fourteenth day of September 2012. In order to make the trip possible I had to play hooky from my job. This was not difficult because I am a remote worker for my employer and as long as my phone has a signal they are not sure of my location. Accompanying me on my trip was my eldest son, Manny. I had planned my day so I only had a few routine items to do for my job and I was able to complete these tasks quickly, however we ran into a snag with our timing because my middle Son, Joseph had taken our pickup to go to work and was not planning on returning till after five o’clock. This created a problem because although we have three cars to accommodate our six member family we were not able to meet all the scheduling requirements for the day. After doing some finagling we were able to depart for the Museum by approximately 10:30 am. During our hour long drive to the museum I was very apprehensive about the visit because I really thought I would not enjoy the Fine Arts. Other museums I had attended, The Air and Space Museum and the Museum of Natural History actually had exhibits which were interesting and not just “cultural”. However my opinion changed after our arrival and we started our self guided tour. We manage to find parking and pay our five dollar parking charge, which was our only fee we had to pay since admission to the museum...

Walmart established a “satellite system” in 1983 that connected its entire stores, headquarters, distribution centers and suppliers which acted as a just-in-time processing system to keep up with the control of inventory. In other words, as an item is purchased from the store, the supplier receives a message alerting them to include that item in the next day’s shipment to the closest distribution center. This system allowed the various stores to have control over their inventory and not have excessive inventory on hand. Another major investment made by Walmart was in the area of distribution technology. Walmart created a network that involved a state of the art hub which utilized “cross-docking” to reduce the inventory at the distribution centers and to...

Edward Gein Research Paper

...Edward Gein roamed the earth from 1906 to 1984, he once said, “When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things. One part wants me to be real nice and sweet, and the other part wonders what her head would look like on a stick.” According to a recent study, five percent of Crane High school students have heard of this psychopath. This paper is based solely on the unbelievable yet intriguing crimes Ed Gein had committed when he was alive. He was a very unusual human, born on a farm and raised by a mother who was rather intimidating. In forty years his mother passed and he was left to take care of the farm all by himself. In the next few years he was to become a grave robber, a cannibal, a necrophiliac, and he took up arts and crafts in body parts. He is seen as probably the most weird and bizarre serial killer of the twentieth century, and probably...
